@DonJorginho well said. Ps5 pro is not needed right now, what’s needed is devs to stop screwing around with optimization. It would also help to go the square Enix route and release demos for everything, since that’s proven to be lucrative in terms of feedback as well as sales generation. For whatever reason, games are regularly reeking of poor optimization. If it was small studios, sure I get it, but Capcom is obviously not small. Time will tell and it’s still a day one buy for me because I’m not too hooked on fps, Pokémon scarlet was the one that really drove me crazy and nothing else has since.
In the event they did get acquired, as it currently stands helldivers is doing just fine. So long as they don’t go full bungie (love Destiny but good god, that company is weird) and stop making effort post acquisition, I don’t think there’d be much incentive for Sony to meddle.
@breakneck completely agreed. The rumours of it having proprietary upscaling tech would absolutely justify a purchase, however to do so it would need to be universal. If it’s once again a “developers need to enable it” then it’s moot, as the current issue with performance and specs is that games are just either not well optimized or the developers simply don’t care. Some games like Salt and Sacrifice don’t need to optimize too much, because graphically they’re not intended to be intense. But games like Wild Hearts, which still looks rough as hell despite being a joy to play, perfectly showcase how badly there needs to be standard to hold devs to.
@MrGilly69 everyone except Zaslav sees it. Compared to other studios, WB game releases have been fewer in number every year and sell fewer copies. Hogwarts Legacy is an anomaly. Mismanagement on a catastrophic scale.
@solocapers the scary thing is this comment, as unhinged as it is, is Zaslav at his most sane. The guy has a knack for creating weird narratives to justify whatever he wants to do. Most of the time it loses money, so I’m banking on him being pushed out before too long. Ridiculous.
@HeavymetalGordon Going on 34 here and I refused to buy Spiderman 2 after selling my initial copy without a steep discount. Snagged it for 39.99, but waiting to see if New game+ is any good before breaking the seal.
@breakneck There's also no incentive to make an upgraded variant of the console when there are still plenty of people happy to stick with PS4. If you know your current console is a hard sell, albeit easier than it was at launch, why double down? Don't get me wrong, I could switch to PC but I'm going on 34 this year. I am no longer willing to plunk down a huge amount solely for gaming, especially when I already have a machine that does that well enough. A PS5 Pro would absolutely sell, but not enough to truly break even. With scalpers as well, a lack of an increase in software sales to accompany it would be unhealthy at best.
@Dusk_Actual would support this 110%. Don’t know about previous management and how many are still there, but every time bungie is ‘acquired’ it’s looked like self sabotage where they then cry foul play. I remember that classic “fois gras” story they told that made them seem afraid of activision, when in reality they were happily embracing bad decisions.
@UltimateOtaku91 the recent comments by Totoki indicate he echoes community sentiment that management is just horrendous and the devs are doing just fine. While it may be wishful thinking, only time will tell, but it does seem that management is allowing these things to happen only because their jobs are at a greater risk of getting destroyed than their subordinates are. That’s kinda funny to be honest.
@atthegates the more I see the less I’m interested. KT has been running off possibly the ugliest and jankiest engine I’ve ever seen, and has been for over a decade. It’s the one thing holding their games back, and it’s showing. As we see more it becomes apparent they’re reluctant to show too much, so I’ll wait for reviews for this one. Same with a sale, to be honest, DD2 is looking better. Tired of the floaty combat, it was a big issue with Nioh 2 for me and if it’s no better here it’s a pass.
@Kienda I found that hilarious honestly. Plenty of games just have Platinum Trophy as the platinum trophy name. But somehow happens on a game from a competitor (or perhaps one time competitor now) and it’s seen as a way for Microsoft to be annoying? Gamers are funny. I know I am.
@DrClayman shouldn’t need to take pay cuts in the first place. That happens when business decisions are being made that have little foresight or are poorly thought out and implemented. Aka mismanagement. Many gaming companies have doubled down on stupidity. Make bad decisions and then lay off employees who had nothing to do with it.
@LifeGirl it’s not normal at all. It’s due to a ridiculous amount of over hiring and executives blindly assuming the pandemic growth would continue indefinitely. Anyone with a brain would know it wouldn’t, because people have lives and aren’t sitting at home gaming as much since we aren’t locked down. It’s taken them way too long to figure that out.
The sad part is had the folks at corporate not been so stupid and weren’t pushing garbage that gamers didn’t want, these employees would still have jobs. The losses from garbage products like suicide squad, Jim’s push for live services etc wasted resources that could’ve paid wages for these same employees.
@8bit4Life more dads need to have those conversations. Mid 30s without kids but I live right across from a high school. Mind boggling how parents are genuinely ok with their kids dressing like that, it’s worse than when I was in high school and that made me uncomfortable.
@Sequel no problem! Glad to hear you got it sorted. Pretty sure any customer service that is privy to BBB stuff is domestic, so they genuinely focus on following their policies and ensuring quality control. It’s the outsourced stuff that’s a nightmare.
@breakneck yep agreed. I went from being uninterested to being interested but still not sold as I don’t feel I’ve seen enough to warrant a day one purchase. Usually games are showing too much, but this one is almost afraid to look good.
I’m shocked. But not really. Any chance it had at launch was ruined by the sheer incompetence on display. Each patch, which are basically hot fixes by the way, adds up to 10-30 gigabytes and breaks the game more. Even people who enjoyed it are giving it the finger.
@Sequel no problem! Just be sure to keep your complain calm, concise and professional. They do and have closed complaints of people who lose their minds.
@Sequel I just made a complaint on the BBB website, saying the goods were defective and that under PlayStation refund policy defective goods are refundable. I attached a screenshot of their return policy, screenshots of purchase emails and said this is a blatant inability to follow their own policy. One day later Sony responded saying “we acknowledge no wrongdoing and it may be your problem but we’ll be nice and make a one time exception, etc”. Both were funded to my bank this morning.
If the servers are unable to ensure the game works as intended, then it’s defective. Period.
@Sequel they did for me after contacting the BBB. Also refunded suicide squad. I’m ok with small devs working through stuff, but this month really ticked me off. Cancelled my ps plus and boxed my ps5. Dunno if I’ll come back, what a garbage month for games.
@Marquez agreed entirely. Jim was the wrong guy for a job that’s about software more than anything else, but he’s not an idiot like some people claim. He just wasn’t a good pick. Definitely a hardware guy. Go work on some TVs or something Jim.
It’s not a sign of the times, unless you mean a sign that the New York Times is a dump nowadays. In that case you’re correct. Look at the other articles: Ukraine is dying! Run for your lives! Give Denathor a clubbing!”
News outlets are lacking in dignity and professionalism because clicks are more important than anything. Don’t even make me mention CBC.
@nomither6 I’d disagree in that the issue isn’t ps5 but games chasing trends or taking the J Allen Brack route and going “you think you want quality story and replayability but you don’t.”
@get2sammyb just give me folders, I shouldn’t have to uninstall games to remove it from the Home Screen. Ridiculous. Otherwise, yeah I would rather see games that people are super engaged with as opposed to “hey this sold well!”.
@Americansamurai1 a smart choice too. Demons souls was lost because it was a three way agreement between atlus and Sony, and Sony struggled to get atlus to let go of it. Bloodborne is too much of a classic (more so than demons souls without a doubt) to allow it to fester.
Fromsoftware has its issues, but never with creativity or art direction. I’ll take a game like Elden ring or armored core 6 that has occasionally janky gameplay or performance over another hyper realistic game that has no legs or value for money. Less remakes please!
@Nepp67 I don’t disagree, I still hate it with a passion. Having summons makes it worse because 90% of the time there’s at least one leech and that combined with her likelihood of randomly switching targets is a disaster waiting to happen. Such a strange choice for sure.
@Nepp67 Easy to avoid if you don't panic roll. Distance yourself, let her swing twice, roll towards her and eat the last hit. Worst thing about it is when you die to it she repeats herself, just in case you haven't heard that she's Malenia, Blade of Miquella.
@Gamer83 Wasn't just mattrick, Spencer and co continued the same exact practices. They just aren't stupid enough to cause a nightmare like Mattrick did at e3. @itsfoz this would honestly be the only way to keep me on the higher tiers. Either that or making ps3 games run natively as the cloud streaming options runs like trash on a wired 3gb/s connection. My premium lapses on the 28th and I’m downgrading all the way to essential, but that’s mainly because the games on extra I’ve either already played extensively, bought day one (most of them are several years old), or just don’t care for. Extra is still a good value for many people, just not me. If premium streaming is improved, then I’d rethink it.
@UltimateOtaku91 Threw in the towel on xbox last month, I just don't see the return for my investment in a separate ecosystem than the one I prefer. This reads to me as "We aren't giving up, but we are seeking a way out."

@gymratAmarillo I'm with you there. The issue isn't Sony, and believe me as a huge playstation buff I love dishing on how anti consumer they are, but with KT as these comments should have been vetted much better. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up ousted, though I hope not. He screwed up, but a slip of the tongue happens to everyone at some point. Just issue an apology, say "hey, what happened was horrible" and let it be. Sony isn't losing sleep over this move, especially with their drive to work with Korea directly.
@Ravix Very well said. I doubt he's condoning their actions in that period, but it created a firestorm where there really shouldn't have been any. The game centres around these figures and always has, so it's not like Korea doesn't want them present at all. His comment just came across as very "he was a man of action" which, given what many of these crimes consisted of is pretty bad. I'd imagine this will get smoothed over behind the scenes after launch, but he really needs to clarify sooner rather than later because ouch. He made a big error.
@Tecinthebrain My girlfriend is Korean and I'll say right now, there's major bad blood between Korea and Japan. Not a pure unrelenting hatred, but there's a lot of tension. Just a general fear of Japan, as they never exactly backed off. They ceased the occupation but seem to be of the mindset that bygones are bygones, when there's children born as a result of what happened.
@Th3solution Even if it doesn't, it's a very dumb comment and poorly thought out. Usually best to have a translator because dear lord, that came off really really horrible. For those who aren't aware, much of what Japan did in Korea was akin to what the settlers did to the native Americans. They did their best to, and I don't know what words are bannable here, but they worked very hard to remove the korean from Koreans. So the "insisted on taking action" comment could very well be perceived as agreeing with some very horrible horrible acts.
I highly doubt that was the intention but it's a bad look, like really bad.
Would have given it a 9 on release, but servers have been a dumpster fire since leaving early access. Devs are not even listening, arguing with people on Twitter and nerfing mechanics instead of fixing what’s utterly broken for many.

Re: Rise of the Ronin's Korean Release Cancelled Following Commentary Controversy
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?
Would have given it a 9 on release, but servers have been a dumpster fire since leaving early access. Devs are not even listening, arguing with people on Twitter and nerfing mechanics instead of fixing what’s utterly broken for many.
