Re: New Final Fantasy 9 CG Art Adorns Famitsu Magazine, Feels Like Remake Bait

DaniPooo

@CutchuSlow Why not? they have multiple dev teams at Square Enix so it's not like working on 9 will slow down dev time on 7 remake.

Also, if my suspicion is correct, FF9 remake will most likely be a very different game to FF7 Remake in terms of gameplay.

I would not at all be surprised if FF9 remake will be very faithful to the original down to the ATB system even if it's a complete visual remake with added cutscenes and voice acting and stuff.
And I don't think they'll make it a multi-part game.

So it will most likely not make a dent in FF7 Remake sales or dev time, and it will attract a slightly different audience. and it's probably almost done already since it should have been in development for quite a number of years already.

Re: Final Fantasy 9 Celebrates 25th Anniversary, But the Rumoured Remake Is Nowhere to Be Seen

DaniPooo

This game doesn't really need a remake, but some sort of new remaster would be welcome.

If they could make the game run at widescreen, 60fps, AI upscaled background and remade 3D models like the FF8 remaster. Then that's it, the game doesn't need more than that really. Just a touched up version that holds up in the modern age.

The memorial mod, and the number of decompilation ports like Ocarina of Time, proves that this is possible even if the source code is lost. But it's probably unlikely that Square Enix will even put such an effort into a remaster unfortunately.

Re: Talking Point: Is It Officially Game Over for PSVR2?

DaniPooo

I like the concept of VR, but there are a few things that I feel hold it back from being an experience that will hit the mainstream hard.

(no particular order)
1) Screen and lens problems, too low resolution, screendoor effects, some screens still use LCDs, fixed focus, too narrow field of view, color fringing, and other issues.

2) Most headsets are still too big and heavy. I think we all want some goggles that are light and comfortable, something that you can put on and forget that you are wearing.

3) Input and output, while many current controllers work decently (especially how moving your arms and hands and grabbing objects and such), I feel that the ways we are moving around/traversing the virtual worlds isn't really great yet.
Moving around in VR using analogue sticks almost makes it feel like you're standing on a Segway or something. There has been lots of research in this area with big rigs, but so far I don't think we have reached a good solution that is affordable and takes up a reasonable amount of space. It needs to be something that the average person can afford and fit neatly in the living room.

4) The games. I think a lot of people were dreaming about big-quality open-world VR games with great graphics, that you can lose yourself in and feel like you're living in, and we're just not there yet. I know Skyrim VR was a thing, but it lacked in the other points that I already mentioned. There is also No Man’s Sky, but it's such a lonely experience. I tried it on the PSVR2, but it just doesn't resonate with me. Most VR games are linear experiences or some sort of smaller experience or sports experience.

5) Many headsets are still quite expensive for a lot of people.

Conclusion: I think that VR has the potential to become the most popular way to play games in the future, but there are a lot of breakthroughs that need to happen in the technology department before that vision can be fully realized.
Only then can I see it being a massive mainstream hit.

Also, I would really like to see screen and sensor technology that allows your eyes to naturally focus like they can in the real world.
My eyes tend to feel a bit tired after a longer VR session because they are forced to focus in ways that are not really natural in real life. I know there's research in this area, so it may be commonplace in the future. Let’s wait and see.

That being said, I remain optimistic about VR in general, even if my PSVR2 is currently in a box gathering dust.

Re: Final Fantasy 9 Remake Talk Returns as Website Updates with New Character Profiles

DaniPooo

I am afraid that they will screw this one up for me.
I really don't want them to take it in the final Fantasy VII "Remake" direction. it would sort of destroy what Final Fantasy IX stands for.

Final Fantasy IX was a love letter to the franchise thus far, they took the best parts from the games before it and included so many easter eggs and nods to the previous games.
I always been saying, If you wanna try the best classic Final Fantasy game then you play 9 or 6.

In my opinion they should leave the gameplay systems alone for the most part, only making minor tweaks to them.

I rather them focusing on the presentation, cutscenes, voices, rearranged music, and maybe some new side quests.

Like.. I want them to remake each location in 3D and giving you camera control, but I wan't the same old ATB battles but with modern graphics and some tweaks to make them feel a bit more modern, as well as the same focus on equipment rather than skill trees.

Changing Final Fantasy IX to an actionRPG style game would just be wrong. Final Fantasy VII is one thing, but FFIX?.. No

Re: Oblivion PS5 Remaster Expected to Have Overhauled Gameplay, Based on Older Leaks

DaniPooo

@Oram77 Blandest!? The game is hilarious at times, did you even play the game or did you just try it a few minutes?

It's truly beloved game and a classic.

But I get it, it's not for everyone and it has not aged gracefully.
But when this game was new, it was unique, epic and graphically impressive.

There are issues with the game, but it's really not bland.

Re: Poll: 5 Years Later, How Do You Feel About Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

DaniPooo

I personally like rebirth more than Remake and that's because it felt like they brought back some more RPG elements as well as more of that Final Fantasy VII charm.

My hopes for the future is that once all parts have released and it's been out for a few years perhaps Square Enix can go back to the trilogy and rework it into one massive seamless games where levels and difficulty is rebalanced in such a way that you carry levels, items, materia, and so on from one part to the other without it feeling strange.

And I think it would need a new reworked battle system that works for all three parts to really make it feel like one massive seamless experience.

I don't know if this can be done, but it would be awesome.
It would essentially be the game we all (or most of us) wanted when they first announces the Final Fantasy VII remake.

If they were feeling generous they could even go in and tweak the turn based mode to work and feel more like an actual classic final fantasy ATB battle system. (Perhaps at the expense of letting you freely swap between modes, similar to the 2D mode in DQ11 DE, since it would require specific gameplay balancing to work well)

This will probably never happen but a guy can dream right

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Patch Fixes Game-Breaking Bug, No Word on Performance Improvements Yet

DaniPooo

I'm happy that I didn't encounter that bug. I finished the main story today and started the post game story. I played most of the game including the final monster battle in bed on my PS Portal.
The latency doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would and playing the game in performance mode on the Portal is totally fine since the resolution is 1080p and smaller than a TV.

When I played on the TV I played in balanced mode but then I noticed some uneven framerate and it kinda bothered me a bit. And performance mode was quite a downgrade in fidelity on my 4k 65" OLED TV.

However with the 120FPS mode and VRR enabled that's less of an issue.

Still I kinda actually prefer to play it on the Portal since I can play in bed, in the kitchen while eating breakfast or on the toilet

Re: Rumour: Oblivion Remake Isn't Just a Graphics Upgrade, It's a Full Gameplay Overhaul

DaniPooo

@MasterChiefWiggum Hahah, I doubt it.. However I was expecting Morrowind to get a remake before Oblivion to be honest. Or Even Daggerfall (But that game would require be more like a complete reboot to make sense in todays gaming landscape)

However I am pretty hyped for an Oblivion remake. Hopefully also making it to more consoles than just Xbox. I have sold my gaming PC and currently I only own a MacBook mini, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. So I can't really play Skyblivion and it's not even done yet anyway.

Re: Infinity Nikki (PS5) - Impeccably Presented Fashion Sim Is an Open World Essential

DaniPooo

@MaelysLeFleau Guess you scrolled straight to the bottom, too lazy to read? Here you go: "The cutscenes, while filled with proper nouns and other obnoxious lore nonsense, never overstay their welcome and make you feel like you’re waiting around for too long. Every few minutes of exploration, you’ll find something new to do."

Proper nouns:
"A proper noun is a noun that serves as the name for a specific place, person, or thing. To distinguish them from common nouns, proper nouns are always capitalized in English. Proper nouns include personal names, place names, names of companies and organizations, and the titles of books, films, songs, and other media."

My take: The reviewer is not a big fan of games heavy on lore where you need to add a lot to memory. Which is fair enough I suppose.

I love lore rich games. But I prefer cutscenes to be more straight to the point and not long and drained out with people talking if it's not absolutely necessary.

I think Skyrim for example managed a good balance where quest dialogues did not contain too much lore but more lore would be available for you by reading books or talking with NPC's just for the sake of talking. (which is all optional)

This makes the game very accessible and easy to get into, while still having a rich world and lore to explore (if you want to)

But it sounds like Infinity Nikky can become tedious for some players.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Want a Steam Deck-Like Portable PlayStation?

DaniPooo

@naruball

Handhelds weren't popular at the time?
I can't say that I agree.

I would say that the DS and 3DS sold very good (especially the DS) On top of that you have the PSP which also sold well (whether or not that was thx to piracy being easily achieved on it is a different question)

and before those you had the gameboys that also sold really really well. And SEGA had the GameGear and there were other handheld gaming devices in the 90's as well.

And before that you had the game & watch games

I'd say that by the time the Vita came to be, we all had a very good idea of what a handheld gaming system was. And they were popular as well.
Like I said, the Nintendo DS is one if not the best selling handheld of all time (has the Switch surpassed it in sales now?)
The NDS sold almost as many units as the PS2! Imagine that..
"154.02 million units worldwide"

So yeah we all knew very very well what handhelds were.

The 3DS struggled mainly for the same reason as the Wii U.
People thought it was just an upgraded DS.
But it only struggled in the beginning and after more games were released and the confusion was cleared up as well as it receiving a price drop it started selling really well.
(Yes for a long time the took a loss at hardware sales but it didn't stay that way, and also I believe most of their revenue comes from the games anyway)

The Vita however was way more expensive and had that expensive proprietary storage and I am pretty sure that's the main reason why it flopped, that was the reason I didn't get one until 5 years later. And at the time people online were bashing the thing for being too expensive to buy.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Want a Steam Deck-Like Portable PlayStation?

DaniPooo

I think the reason the Vita didn't take off was mainly due to the price of both console and proprietary storage solution.

I Sony made a handheld that didn't have these issues I think people would buy it.

But on the other hand, there's already many players on the handheld scene, especially if Microsoft is also planning on a handheld. It could be that the market will be way too over saturated with handheld, impacting sales for everyone.

Re: Hands On: PS Plus Cloud Streaming Is a Game Changer for PS Portal

DaniPooo

@get2sammyb However you could now buy the PS portal even if you don't have a PS5 and play 100s of games completely without owning a PS5.

Not sure you can still call it an accessory at this point as it currently work independently as a streaming handheld.

Yes sure you have to pay a monthly fee, but that is common right with streaming services.

If you still want to classify it as an accessory then what is it an accessory to? The PS5 that you no longer require? Or perhaps the Playstation Cloud streaming service?

I think it's easier to just call it a streaming device or a streaming handheld. "Accessory" simply raises too many issues with the definition of the word.

Re: Hands On: PS Plus Cloud Streaming Is a Game Changer for PS Portal

DaniPooo

@LavenderShroud Works really well for me so far, however I have not spent 100's of hours in cloud streaming.

Streaming from my PS5 though is nearly flawless as long as I have a good connection to the router. (which I have in most of my rooms)

I spent 100s of hours playing Final Fantasy XIV on the PS Portal and it's absolutely great once you have everything set up optimally.

Re: Hands On: PS Plus Cloud Streaming Is a Game Changer for PS Portal

DaniPooo

It works pretty well in may testing, just hoping they'll add the PS3 and PS4 games.

Also on that note, why the heck don't they add the Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy as streamable games? I mean unless Square Enix means to re-release them themselves I think it would be nice to have them added. The "ATB-system" lends itself well to cloud gaming as it doesn't require super precise inputs and super low latency.

Re: PS5 Pro Packaging Flaunts Its Disc-Free Nature

DaniPooo

@OG_Juice_87 "They don't need to have digital only consoles to grow or maintain their customer base, that's absolute nonsense."

I never said that.

But if they can get away with not producing a disc version then they save a lot of money on production costs, research cost and material cost. On top of that they can proudly say that this is a good thing for the environment as there's less plastic used.
If they can get away with it without the their customers leaving.

"They understand that giving people the convenience of not having to leave their homes to buy games and the B.S"

Well some people don't really care about the "not leaving home" part.

For me it's more about the convenience of not having to swap discs, getting scratched discs, having discs taking up space in my home, having to replace disc drives that break due to moving parts that add additional noise.

I don't care about browsing stores for great deals. Heck it's quite often that Sony have like 70-90% off discounts on the PS store. You can pretty much always find big discounts there.

It's the same with movies, I never buy blue-rays or DVD's anymore, I watch the movies I wanna watch on a stream service or at the cinema.

I don't want much physical media taking up space in my home if I can avoid it.

Re: PS5 Pro Will Reportedly Boost PS4 Games, and Reduce PSVR2 Motion Sickness

DaniPooo

@torquex

So ok I can see how you get annoyed with some of the points that you have pointed out. However this is more an issue with developers not doing a proper job updating their games for the PS5 Pro. We have some examples of games that do benefit quite a bit from being PS5 Pro enhanced. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth comes to mind.

This is not the best way to judge if the hardware is worth the money because it has just been released and developers are still figuring out how to make the most of it.

The only way to objectively judge wether the hardware is overpriced or not is to look at the specifications of the system and compare it with other systems of similar hardware specification and then ask the question, How is it priced compared to these systems?

It's ok if you say: "I don't wan't to spend that much money on a gaming system", "it's too expensive for me" or "I have other priorities".

I only react when you say that it's overpriced or a "rip-off" because that just isn't the case.

It's like if you would say that a gold wedding band with diamonds is a rip-off despite being the least expensive Gond and diamond wedding band on the market.

Sure there will be cheaper wedding bands if you can live without pure gold and diamond and that's totally fine for a lot of people.

But for those that are looking specifically for gold and diamond it's actually a great deal even though it might take them quite a while to save up money for it.

It's the same when you start talking about bespoke hardware fore raytracing and deep learning hardware for upscaling and such things. These things are still expensive. If you don't care for that stuff then you don't need to buy them.

But that doesn't mean that it's overpriced or that you are being ripped off..

Re: PS5 Pro Will Reportedly Boost PS4 Games, and Reduce PSVR2 Motion Sickness

DaniPooo

@torquex you are not per default being cheated, or paying excessive/unfairly high price, just because it's expensive.

Again, the PS5 Pro IS fairly priced, one might even argue that it's a generous offer, because it's the cheapest way to get that kind of gaming performance.

So yes, it's expensive, but you are not being cheated or swindled to pay more than what the hardware is worth.

It's an expensive machine that is worth the money.
the pricing makes sense..

And I am not saying that as a fanboy, it's an objective observation.

I would like to buy it, but I have other priorities, engagement coming up and a trip abroad so I will put my purchase on ice for now, and depending on my situation and so on, I might wait to see what the Switch 2 can do. That might be an even better purchase for me since I will start to travel more and spend less time at home.

But just because I can't afford it right now or have other priorities in my life it doesn't mean that the product is a rip-off.
It's not an unfair price. It's just expensive

Re: DOOM, Elder Scrolls, Fallout Devs Strike in Protest of Parent Company, Microsoft

DaniPooo

@Bagwag82 Sure, you are kind of correct.
But they don't want a poor reputation, and even if they see us as a number, they don't want that number to go down, they don't want us to be lazy and unproductive.

So it should very much be in their best interest to try keeping us happy. Because a happy employee is more likely to be productive and pursuing self development as well as staying.
That's value for money

Re: PS5 Pro Packaging Flaunts Its Disc-Free Nature

DaniPooo

@OG_Juice_87

If we go to an all digital future, it's because the people vote for it with our wallets. If digital only consoles are getting more popular than a more expensive disc drive system, then Sony might not see a reason to keep making a version with a disc drive.

That's all there is to it really.

Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo will always try to make as much money as they possibly can, but a big part of that is retaining or growing their customer base.

If Sony try an all digital generation and half of their user base move over to the competitors that still have physical medium for their games, then Sony will most likely bring the disc drive back.

However, should Sony still be successful, then it's likely that both Nintendo as well as Microsoft will go disc-less as well.
And by that point it's going to be the new norm.

That's pretty much all there is to it.

Re: PS5 Pro Will Reportedly Boost PS4 Games, and Reduce PSVR2 Motion Sickness

DaniPooo

@torquex It surprises me that you don't know what "rip off" means even though you are a native English speaker.

Otherwise, perhaps you could explain how this is a "rip off"..
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/rip-off

By "charging too much", they don't mean that the price is over your personal budget.

They mean that the price is higher than it should have to be. That you are overpaying, that you are being cheated..

I could be ripped off buying a hamburger even if I could afford 200 of them. If the hamburger is of the same quality as the competitors hamburgers but three times as expensive. then you can call it a "rip off". It's a price that you can't justify.
It's not so much about whether or not you have enough money to buy it.

So since the PS5 Pro IS fairly prices for what you get, it simply cannot be considered a "rip off".
Is it expensive? Sure! I never said it wasn't expensive.. But it's not a "rip off".
You are not being cheated into paying too much.

But I would be happy to hear your counter argument if you have any.

But saying "Yeah I can and yeah it is.", "that's your opinion" or "my opinion is" can't be considered proper arguments.
They are just baseless statements without factual weight.

Have a great day

Re: PS5 Pro Packaging Flaunts Its Disc-Free Nature

DaniPooo

discs are nasty anyway, they are slow, they make noise, they scratch, they rot, they take up space, they use plastics (which we all try to get rid of), they only serve as an installation medium and you can't play the game from it, if you want the full game you still need to download huge updates and buy DLC, The disc drive use moving parts and a laser head that is historically prone to break.

I mean I could go on.. What are the pro's for having a disc drive? Slightly cheaper games that you can look at on a shelf. and maybe resell??

Bah! I prefer "disc-free" any day of the week.

There was a time what I used to collect games and I can sort of get that. But I sold my game collection a long time ago.

I still have just as many games (if not more) available for me to play. It's not like I can take the games with me when I die anyway so what's the point collecting them?
I still have more games to play than what I have time for...
Just not on a piece of reflective plastic and metallic foil...

Re: PS5 Pro Will Reportedly Boost PS4 Games, and Reduce PSVR2 Motion Sickness

DaniPooo

@torquex How is it a rip off if it delivers the best graphics performance for the price?

The price is justified in this case. You cannot call it a rip off just because it's over your budget.
You have to look at it objectively, what do you get for the money and how are other products delivering a similar experience priced.

This is not my subjective opinion. The fact is that the PS5 Pro is priced pretty well for the performance it delivers. So it's really not a rip off.

A rip off would be if it's more expensive than it should have to be. Apples storage upgrades for example are a rip off.
Especially since you can get away with less of the super fast internal storage and instead using pretty fast external storage.
Most people would be totally fine with that.
And other competition offers much more affordable options.
That's a rip off.

With the PS5 Pro you can't make this argument. And that is not an opinion, that is fact. At least for now

In a year or two you will probably be able to make the argument that the PS5 Pro is a rip off as new products are released that can do what the PS5 Pro does for the same price or less.

But for now you can't make that argument.

Now stop talking about opinions, this is not about opinions..

Re: PS5 Pro Will Reportedly Boost PS4 Games, and Reduce PSVR2 Motion Sickness

DaniPooo

@torquex It's not an insult, it's a fact.
If you feel insulted as an adult about that, then you prove my point.

In some cases there's really no discussing opinions.
Would you discuss whether earth is flat or the moon is made out of cheese? I don't accept "opinions" that are completely ridiculous.

The fact is that in terms of gaming performance, the PS5 Pro gives you bang for your buck. You cannot get better gaming performance for that price.

Hmm, you say that it's too expensive for what it is.
I don't quite understand, there is the regular PS5 for you to buy, which is a more traditional console with a lower price.
The PS5 Pro is not a PS6, it's not the successor of the PS5.

The PS5 Pro is a premium console for the enthusiasts, it can be however expensive Sony wants it to be, it's not targeting the masses, it's targeting the people who are willing to pay extra for the performance. And people who already have large TV's with HDR, VRR and 120ghz.

It's ok if you don't wanna buy it, that means that you are not the target audience. Not the end of the world, you can still enjoy all the games on the regular PS5.

Re: PS5 Pro Will Reportedly Boost PS4 Games, and Reduce PSVR2 Motion Sickness

DaniPooo

@torquex Again, a high end graphics card is not more expensive because it contains more expensive materials. It's mostly more expensive because it's more powerful and people are willing to pay for that.

That being said, with the graphics card that cost like 3 PS5 Pro's you can't really do any gaming, unless you also buy the rest of the computer.

Don't forget to buy a blueray drive for your new expensive computer build! it seems like something people really forget a lot given how poorly blue-ray drives are selling these days. But apparently it's extremely important as people scream that they won't by a PS5 pro unless it comes with a Blu-ray drive...

So what is a gaming console? It's a gaming computer basically.

If you are ok buying a gaming PC without Blue-ray drive for way more than the PS5 Pro, how can you then criticise the PS5 Pro for not having a blue-ray drive while being less expensive and still being able to outperform some of those gaming computers?

Because you CANNOT get a PC that outperforms the PS5 Pro in terms of gaming at the price of a PS5 Pro. Not yet anyway.
And when you do, then it probably doesn't come with a blue-ray drive.

To say that the PS5 and PS5 Pro is of low quality is also incorrect.
The PS5 has quite high quality and well considered cooling and build. The plastic used is of high quality with a lot of attention to detail.

I really don't get your argument.
You actually get a lot of machine for the money with a PS5 Pro.
Is it expensive? Yes
Is the cost justified? Yes (because getting that kind of gaming performance and hardware anywhere else would be more expensive)

The materials used is not important.
The RTX4090 has the pretty much the same materials used as the PS5, but less materials.. Yet it's way more expensive..
And you can't do sh*t with an RTX4090 without buying a lot of other things as well.

So complaining that the PS5 Pro don't come with a Blue-Ray drive and that it's too expensive is childish.
The price is justified, but perhaps more than you are willing to pay for a home console connected to the TV.
Perhaps you are upset that it's not the same price ass the PS4 Pro, well that's fine I guess but Sony has only made one other "Pro" system so it's not like you can say that this pricing breaks "tradition". Plus.. it was a different time and different economy back then, keep that in mind.

Re: PS5 Pro Will Reportedly Boost PS4 Games, and Reduce PSVR2 Motion Sickness

DaniPooo

Devs are apparently loving the PS5 Pro, Digital foundry seems to approve of the improvements, Many news-sites have tried to build a PC with the same or similar performance for the same money, but they have all come to the conclusion that you can't.

Yet people here are kicking, crying and screaming and making fun of the PS5 Pro.

YES it's expensive! But apparently it's still the cheapest device you can get with that kind of performance.
It has Pro in the name, it's supposed to be a console for the absolute enthusiast, not a successor to the PS5.

Only reason I can see why you are upset, is that you can't afford it for that price, or can't justify paying that much for gaming.

On the PC side on the other hand, people pay the double, triple or even quadrupple without too much complaint.

Take it easy, the PS5 Pro might not be for you then, just get the regular PS5 all games will still work on it, and wait for the PS6.

Re: Watch Unreal 5's Seriously Impressive MegaLights Tech Demo, Running on a PS5

DaniPooo

Yeah this is great stuff, This engine keeps getting new killer features.

Still it's a heavy engine and while this demo works on PS5, it's a different story getting Nanite, Lumen and this Megalight working together in a game I imagine.

Especially more Open-World like games.

That being said, I am looking very much forward to next gen, even more after watching this.

Re: PS5 Gets a Staggering, Officially Licensed 8TB SSD

DaniPooo

@thefourfoldroot1 oh put a sock in it.
This started with: "Why? lol. Just delete and reinstall as needed. Nobody plays more than 20 games at a time surely."

And me explaining why that not everyone might want to do that.

Your opinion is obviously that you think 8TB is unnecessary and wasteful, probably because you can't afford it or you don't have that big digital library or you have other priorities in life, or a combination. That's fine, I don't care what your particular reasons are.

People are always crying online whenever something expensive is released, whether it's an Apple product or a high capacity storage medium. And I think people are crying mostly because it's something they wish they could have or something that they don't see the benefit in having

All I am saying is that this SSD might be worth it for some people.
And I outlined some reasons why already.

You don't have to buy it just because it exists, if it's not worth it for you then don't buy it.

I wouldn't mind buying if I could afford it. I am going to wait for the prices to drop as 8TB get's more common. but that's enough about me

Don't blame people for buying it at that price.
I won't blame people for not buying it.. Everyone has different priorities and different incomes.

Now you can get out of my hair

Re: PS5 Gets a Staggering, Officially Licensed 8TB SSD

DaniPooo

@thefourfoldroot1 No, I said that I don't care about your individual opinion. I care about different groups opinions. And I already know which group you belong to and you are already covered so your opinion is not very interesting.

Yeah I may be a bit rude, people tell me that I am blunt, don't take it personally.

Re: PS5 Gets a Staggering, Officially Licensed 8TB SSD

DaniPooo

@thefourfoldroot1 I don't care at all about your individual opinion. Of course this will not be for everyone. In fact, most people won't buy it. And that makes sense. It's expensive stuff..

But for the group of people who don't care about physical media but still want to keep their games in one place for the sake of clutter reduction and minimalism this could be worth it.
Especially knowing that you and your kids might be able to enjoy those games long after Sony shuts down their servers.

Options are a good thing!

Re: Feature: PS5 Pro's Been Clowned on By the Entire Internet, and the Memes Will Make You Laugh

DaniPooo

@NEStalgia There is however the possibility that they could push the CPU a bit harder with beefier cooling. This remains to be seen.
But yeah you are right, any game that don't have a 60 fps performance mode and that is already CPU limited at 30FPS will likely not be pushed to 60. (I doubt there's a lot of games that are CPU bottlenecked on the PS5)

However any game that has a 60fps performance mode can likely be visually improved a lot.

And by a lot I mean a LOT actually.

So take Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's performance mode as a start, Silky smooth 60FPS, but poor resolution and scaling.
So here they could push the internal resolution a bit with a more powerful GPU, All the way up to 4k? well maybe not.. and they don't need to, they have PSSR which they can apply for the last bit percieved resolution.
This could look very close to native 4k60fps on a TV in your living room.

But they don't need to stop there, if they have CPU headroom (Which they likely have, given that this game don't have a lot of physics simulations and thousands of NPC doing battle and stuff like that), then they could possibly enable raytracing in some capacity as well.

Now, it's down to the developers how much time they wan't to spend tuning the games to PS5 Pro, some devs are probably not going to do the best job at optimizing and enhancing their games.

But hey it's entirely possible that when the devs are working on PS5 Pro patches they realize that perhaps some games that don't currently have VRR support could benefit from it and even on the base PS5, perhaps they even find new ways to improve performance on the base PS5 while they are digging around in the code.
These are things I also would get excited for.
