Astro’s Playroom was probably my fav game this generation- which would make you think I would be extra excited for this one. However I’ve held off because I generally like to experience completely new games as I don’t have a lot of gaming time these days.
So my question for anyone is if this feels very samey, or is it different enough from playroom to evoke a strong reaction (like if playroom was my goty back then, then would I really feel this way again?)
I thought it was well done for what it was - agree that it's definitely a mash up of a decent award show and promos/announcements (which I enjoy for the most part).
My only advice to Geoff would be to avoid statements like "thank you for continuing to believe in me" etc...
It came off strange for me...and I feel like it you want to make it "not about you" then avoid talking about it as "your show" and just talk about it as the "Game Awards", as if it's a natural thing to have.
Wow. Very curious as to what this update is about.
Was recently thinking about doing a second playthrough with the female V.
Perfect timing...I actually don't find many games to be engaging these days. Playing through RDR2 finally and my only wishlisted games for me are Astro Bot, Indiana Jones, and GTA6.
I'm without a console at the moment (sold my PS5 a while ago to pursue other hobbies).
Thinking about diving back in, but would also have to purchase a new TV in addition to the PS5 pro. The only saving grace of this option is that my Amazon card lets me pay interest free equal payments on both over the next 12 months.
The other option (in Canada) is wait for the digital PS5 to likely drop from $579 to $499 for Black Friday. Also - new TV not needed!
Any recommendations for TVs if I do go the PS5 Pro route?
Sorry if this isn't the thread for this question - but seeing this article is spurring my desire to pick up a PS5 pro since I sold my PS5 about a year ago when I got a Steam Deck.
My only hesitation (besides the price) is whether or not my TV is good enough for it. It's a 2016 LG OLED. So it's quite old, but at the time I remember it was CNETs TV of the year I think. Anyways, obviously a 4K TV, but am I needing other things like HDMI 2.1 ports? Will the refresh rates be poor compared to today's tvs? Just not sure how much things have evolved since then!
When the first trailer dropped at the game awards (?) I was very intrigued by this game...never new much about the series mind you.
Like some of you though, this trailer didn't do it for me at all. I'm sure there will be some fun action and over the top story telling, but something about it just wasn't clicking for me.
Also not a fan of the visuals - all very grey? Not interesting to me from an artistic perspective.
Obviously not game breaking news - but to me, at least it signals that they are active and trying to improve their situation.
Who knows if the new PES will feel "next-gen". I still remember the disappointment when booting up the first PS3 version of PES.
That being said - I do hope they try and carry over the in-year improvements they seem to be making via patches. PES is known for having a wide fluctuation between their demos all the way through the cycle until the next version is released. Just keep building on it!
Having only played Yakuza 0, I'm not sure what to play next - this or Like a Dragon on my PS5.....I guess it's a choice between real time and turn-based. Both games seem to be at the same level in terms of writing quality/presentation/etc...
Great interview! I loved launch day with my PS5 - booting this up and jumping straight into the GPU Jungle area. The music was a huge factor in my love of this game and console.
Will be interested to see if they do enough to pull me back in again. On one hand, it's nice timing because it comes near the launch of the PS5, where isn't a huge library to choose from, but on the other hand it feels weird to buy a PS5 and then dive into a PS3 trilogy!
Looking forward to Yakuza and Resident Evil the most between now and May, so maybe this will fit nicely in line with those. Playing Final Fantasy VII remake for the first time (first FF game ever)...wow, so good.
I played about a dozen hours of the original. Since I was new to JRPGs, I set the difficulty down to "safe" mode. However, I soon realized that the massive amount of hours spent outside of the dungeons are sort of pointless if battles are super easy and impossible to lose in this mode.
Because of this, I stopped playing the game. I really loved it, but didn't feel motivated enough to restart immediately on normal difficulty (or even "easy").
Now that this is coming out - should I splurge on the new version or just replay with the current one that I already own? Playing the best version appeals to me, but not sure the $80CDN is justified!
Have this game waiting for me to start on my home screen. Glad I waited for all the updates! That being said, what does everyone think of "Creative" mode in NMS? I'm sort of intrigued by it, considering I don't have a lot of free time for gaming anymore and want something I can just jump into and explore/enjoy.
What are you guys thinking about the difficulty level? I'm new to JRPGs and thinking that safety mode might allow me to go through the game without frustration and just enjoy the story and style. Do you think it will take the fun out of the gameplay?
@kyleforrester87 I think they made the right choice in choosing a high drama section of gameplay that's apparently from the around the middle of the game. No fluff or intro type stuff - just meant to let you experience a high point in the game.
Well, after stepping out of the gaming world for a while, I decided to pick up a PS4 Pro the other day. 2017 was just looking too good to pass up.
One of my first tasks when booting it up was to head to the store and see what demos were available. I remember thinking "Hmmm, I think I've heard about this Nier game but don't really know anything about it - why not try it?". Little did I know that the demo would completely win me over and have me wanting this game more than anything else on the horizon right now.
The controls, art style, music, etc...are really exquisite. The pacing is also perfect - they seem like they know how to switch things up just enough so that it stays fresh and exciting.

Re: Hands On: PS Plus Cloud Streaming Is a Game Changer for PS Portal
@SleeplessKnight
lol yes there are definitely differences between the portal and switch lite
Re: Hands On: PS Plus Cloud Streaming Is a Game Changer for PS Portal
This is not a bad standalone option at all. Same price as a switch lite (here in Canada) and then all you need is the PSN sub

You obviously haven't played Kirby and the Forgotten Land. This is the apocalypitic palette I was hoping for LOL

Re: Lost Judgment Unveils Its Dramatic Opening Movie
Played Yakuza Like a Dragon for the first time last night and it re-kindled my excitement for these games.
I've only played Yakuza 0, which is one of my all-time favs.
Never played the first Judgment, but this one is a "day one" for me!
Re: Feature: The 10 Most Anticipated PS5, PS4 Games for the Rest of 2021
Life is Strange is also a game I'm really looking forward to.

Favourite series of all time...
Will be interested to see if they do enough to pull me back in again. On one hand, it's nice timing because it comes near the launch of the PS5, where isn't a huge library to choose from, but on the other hand it feels weird to buy a PS5 and then dive into a PS3 trilogy!

Re: PS5 PlayStation Store Finally Has a Deals Section
My main wish: The ability to remove items from the library on the PS5 home screen.
At the moment, it's filled with demos, games I no longer wish to download, etc...
It would be great to see only the PS4/PS5 games that I love in one big inventory!

@Elodin Ha! I knew I was clever. Totally intentional (I wish).

Nice review - I could definitely see myself playing this. If only to see my wife's reaction to the goriest parts.
