We're all expecting Mass Effect Legendary Edition to release at some point within the next couple of months or so — a recent leak had it down for the 12th March. But if that really is the case, then we're going to need to see this remastered trilogy in action. Fortunately, it sounds like the big reveal could be heading our way this week.
Wushu Studios' Nate Najda — AKA Shinobi602 — has always had the inside scoop on BioWare's upcoming projects, and he's been teasing that news is imminent. What's more, Game Informer's Liana Ruppert tweeted over the weekend: "You're going to want to keep it tuned into Game Informer on Tuesday. We've got some exclusive content to reveal and an entire month of additional celebratory content that I think you'll LOVE. You're not going to want to miss it." Said tweet was then retweeted by Shinobi.
But if that's not enough to convince you, then TheGamer is about to kick off a full week of Mass Effect "news, interviews, and more". Curious timing.
We think it's happening, then. But what do you hope to see from Mass Effect Legendary Edition? Grab your Mattock and take cover in the comments section below.

Hope so been waiting years for this Mass Effect 2 being my favourite but love the trilogy.Will be interesting too see what improvements Mass Effect 1 has with it being 14 years old.
I have never played any of these games. Do you think I should still play this even if I originally didn't play them??
I hope that this is an indication that they've done more than just port the games over. I really hope they've tinkered with the gameplay of the first one because DAMN. That thing felt ancient when it launched.
@Tigerhoodman definitely. Three of the finest games ever made. Yes, even the third one, don't listen to the haters. But Mass Effect 2 is a true stunner. I remember completing it in 2 days then as soon as I finished it, started it again for an Achievement mop up. Then completed it again and again ! Mass Effect 3 has the best slice of DLC ever ( The Citadel ) and all 3 games are brilliantly written. Play them !
@Tigerhoodman oh hells yeah!
@Tigerhoodman Yes! Absolutely one of the greatest game trilogies of all time. There's nothing else quite like the setting or story you build, and the characters are fantastic.
🤔 are they gona change the ending to make it canon with direct sequel thats been hinted?... im gona marinate in this legendary edition for months!!!! ( been playing the originals for years trying to experience different story lines 😂 some corkers in it 🤣😂
cant state it enough I WANT THIS VERSION! of mass effect near and dear to my heart!
Played the third one on PS3. Best part was mining the planets. Other than that, didn't care for it, and won't be bothering with this.
Got a mate who's nuts about them, but they don't do anything for me.
Back in the day I bought a 360 just to play this series. I will buy this again even if it's just a straightforward port. Here's hoping they plan on doing the same for the Dragon Age trilogy.
Also three Platinum trophies or I riot. Just me. One man riot.
@johncalmc The rumor on the street is that ME1 has been overhauled a fair bit. We shall see.
@Th3solution well you cant really sell it unless they made a few changes to...well everything really...man that game is clunky lol
@Th3solution @johncalmc Yeah, I've read that it's "more than a simple remaster". We'll obviously have to wait and see what qualifies as "more" but it's got me hopeful.
Can't wait! I missed out on the first one when it was originally released, but played ME2 and 3 to death. I hope they put in some extra effort on the character models. Miranda's face still gives me nightmares to this very day .
That, and I still think the Normandy SR-2 is the coolest starhip in a video game ever.
@ShogunRok Honestly I can feel it in my bones that it's just going to be a bog standard remaster and I'm still going to be absolutely livid.
Very excited to to play the Trilogy again as its been years since i last played them.
@johncalmc I wouldn't bet against it, put it that way.
Favourite series of all time...
Will be interested to see if they do enough to pull me back in again. On one hand, it's nice timing because it comes near the launch of the PS5, where isn't a huge library to choose from, but on the other hand it feels weird to buy a PS5 and then dive into a PS3 trilogy!
Looking forward to Yakuza and Resident Evil the most between now and May, so maybe this will fit nicely in line with those. Playing Final Fantasy VII remake for the first time (first FF game ever)...wow, so good.
@ApostateMage same! I would really love a re-release for Dragon Age as well, even if I already own all the expansions for those games, they could really tinker with Origins a bit - it wasn’t running that well on ps3.
Agree with some of the statements above. 4k res, updated textures and 60fps goes without saying (especially on PS5) but I'd love to see gameplay improvements (such as making the first game feel more like 2 & 3, though I understand that would be quite an undertaking) and general quality of life improvements.
Still, I can't wait to get back into its universe after all this time, especially as I went through it with male Shepherd; FemShep here I come!
I’ve never played Mass Effect. I may have to
@Tigerhoodman play up until the third game, then drop it. And I’m not saying that as someone bitter because of the ending. The series was like GoT, where the final stretch is just a shadow of everything before (dialogue is worse, quests are simplified etc). Worth playing 1 and 2 in their remastered forms though. 2 is one of my favourites games.
@Tigerhoodman Short answer: Yes, they're awesome (OK ME3's ending is...not perfect,but still play it) Long answer: Yes and why on Earth would not playing the originals mean you can't play the remasters?! The whole point of stuff like this is to introduce new people.
@Tigerhoodman definitely. If you like sci fi RPGs with a deep lore then you will love it
I actually gave the second game a standing ovation upon completion...I was the only one in the room...bit weird really but it was that good!
"Hold the line".
Never played it still have number 3 in seal. 🤪
@The_Real_JMK sorry really? i have played this on ps3 , xbox360, pc , Xbox one and now the series X , me and a mate takes a level each when i was visiting before this pandemic, i enjoy each game i don't pick one just one game , the complete story. once you complete the long haul on console , fire it up on steam with a trainer and experience the game with max paragon and renegade from the first game and experience the whole thing opens up more dialogue early , i hope they do add newgame+ , and john shepherd is funny. only played the female version once or twice.
@JB_Whiting buzz words no such thing as 4k to our eyes , scientifically proven our eyes cant see 4k. lol and i gamed on 14# crt tvs with nes and snes. im no fussed 1080p does me lol its all 1080p but shinier lol
@TopG1982 are they doing a remaster? or
@Mad001 that completely depends on the size of your television and your distance from it (and you're vision). But if you're not sitting more than 2,5 times the diagonal of your television from the screen the difference between 1080 and 4K t should be visible for all people with decent eyesight.
@Mad001
Untrue. On my LG OLED the difference between 1080p and 2160p (4K) is night and day. On smaller screens you can get away with it yeah. But as today's TV's get bigger and better, the crispness of the games need to keep up also.
I'm not saying 4K is a must, I'm perfectly happy with 1440p - it's a nice middle-ground - and suitable for 50 inch displays and above. But 1080p on larger screens is just too soft.
@JB_Whiting its shinier lol
