@Th3solution@colonelkilgore@antdickens@Kidfried Yeah, I know there's a few users who have blocked me for differing opinions some of whom are quite active so things are pretty confusing for me in a lot of threads and articles on this site and Nintendo Life...There was a user on Nintendo Life that wrote a few articles and I could only see the comments as the article itself was blank. Is this a known issue if a staff member blocks a regular member @antdickens ???
@WiiWareWave there is no way for the article itself to be blank. None of our staff or contributors are using the block feature, sounds like an unrelated bug — send me the details or a screenshot if you ever encounter it again.
For what it's worth I'd say get rid of the block feature too, or find a way to tone it down as suggested in the last few posts. I've had a couple of people block me and yeah it does stop you from wanting to bother to contribute so much, and it is annoying when you can't follow exchanges properly.
@antdickens Chiming in with the others to say that the Ignore feature is ok but the block feature is too much, and it is actually disruptive, and it is used without much thought or consideration.
If people do not like someone or their opinions the ignore function is enough. Also, they can't see replies anyway.
A simple fix (which you seem to have already tossed around): leave the ignore function the way it is, but require the intervention of a moderator or administrator if you want to block someone from seeing your posts. If you can demonstrate a compelling reason to prevent someone else from seeing your posts, then so be it, but normal users shouldn't have free rein to ruin the user experience of others without justification.
This isn't the first time a user has been driven off one of the sister websites due to this happening. It's time to address the issue.
The idea of Block function was actually from user Ryu_Niiyama idea from what i remembered.
He / she really want to block whoever doesn't fit with him / her or found somebody harassed him / her and he / she was really really desperate asked Mr Anthony as the moderator to apply the Block feature so he/ she really enjoy his / her solitary since nobody can interact with him / her nor even read his / her comment and only want to interact with specific users.
I'm just saying.

Well I suppose today has been a wake up call for me. There’s a message I sent in chit chat that provides further context, I hope you can find it. I won’t deny this is discouraging me from browsing the threads.
A user whom I consider a good friend and one of the people responsible for easing me into these threads when I first started a few months ago has seemingly blocked me out of nowhere, despite all our interactions being friendly to each other.
Since he can’t see this message, whatever I may have said, I definitely apologize in advance, and will also go ahead and apologize if anything I said in these threads has particularly bothered anybody here I consider a friend.
If this is a sign from the sky to take a break then I’m ok with that. I am admittedly, a bit hyper-active even late into my adulthood.
I’ll be back (read this with Terminator voice) on the 20th of October, which is the third Sunday of the month to do my game club ping as per the guidelines of it.
The one real downside is that I do actually use these threads to receive helpful gaming information from the likes of Ralizah, Ravix, JohnnyShoulder, Colonelkilgore and Th3Solution so deriving myself from that would be a downside.
Is this an overreaction? Maybe. But being blocked by someone you’ve only had nothing but the nicest interactions with can feel like a backstab, and keep in mind, I genuinely don’t dislike them for this. I really hope that user is doing ok and isn’t depressed or anything, but I still feel like I’m being told to shoo away. Maybe this is what Fullbringichigo felt.
If anyone curiosa about me, I’m playing DBZ Sparking Zero.
As a final note, I found all this out exactly as I was about to head to bed and wanted to send a quick message talking about DBZ. I guess I just want to get this out of my system since it was quite upsetting to find out so suddenly. I won’t lie that this was a pretty difficult thing to write and send. I spent a solid couple minutes just mindlessly staring at the send button haha, I guess it’s social anxiety. But I definitely need my shut-eye so I’ll stop being anxious and hit send already and go to bed.
I’ll log out and turn off all notifications.
