The Last of Us: Part II was announced two years ago, and while we’ve seen a handful of trailers now, the game’s still very much shrouded in mystery. This reaction trailer is a curious upload on the PlayStation channel then. It marks the two year anniversary of the Naughty Dog sequel’s reveal, and shows various YouTubers responding to its debut.
But are we about to see more at The Game Awards 2018? We’re not sure. It’s clear that Sony wants to keep this game in the public conscience, but with no release date in sight, it really needs to execute its marketing plan expertly, because it can’t show too much. Our guess? There’s a 50/50 chance of it putting in an appearance this week. Fingers crossed, eh?

i can give you my reaction right now
i didn't think the first game was all that and the second game doesn't hold much interest for me either
@FullbringIchigo There's always one.
It was a great reveal trailer, to be fair.
I think we’ll see something at TGA tbh. Hopefully some more gameplay clips, as although I’m not keen on being a Debbie downer, E3s gameplay didn’t seem to make any bigger changes to the original. Even the HUD and sound cues seem like they were taken straight out of the first.
I understand it’s a sequel set in the same world etc etc, but I do feel that devs should innovate and evolve a lot more than just adding a deeper melee system along with the ability to hide under a car or squeeze between tight spaces.
I can’t help watching the demo and feeling like it is very much the same again SO FAR in gameplay, and that doesn’t excite me.
they might have more info on the game and a coming 2019 at the end
Who actually reacted to this trailer anything like those actors in the video? :/
But still.. 2 years ago! Madness!
@STLamy I dunno, it looked highly evolved to me. Much more dynamic. It's still going to be a stealth action game at its core — they're not going to turn it into a puzzle game.
@get2sammyb I would agree that it is a lot more dynamic, but I’d say that was down to AI improvements, which is a massive overall.
I dunno, I just can’t get excited for another game where I throw bottles at the ground and stab, rinse and repeat. They are giving you more space in the levels now, but how are they going to allow us to use this space?
Every time I watch it I just can’t help but think that’s it’s more TLOU as far as gameplay goes, I think the fact the sound cue for an enemy being close is the same, is annoying me most 😂
Oh well I’ll wait and see more, I’ll be getting it 100% for the story anyway!
Saw this yesterday and it got me hyped all over again. I usually hate fake youtubers reaction stream stuff but this was a great way to reuse that trailer.
Hoping we get something more soon..
@get2sammyb yep
but honestly i just found the first game rather boring although the characters were very well written i just didn't enjoy playing the game, which is strange as i love the Uncharted series which plays rather similar to it
@Quintumply
It was and I also preferred the Ellie in the trailer. I'm not sure why they changed her look. As if it's a different game now.
@STLamy Well it's going to be interesting to see how the Clickers work in this one because we haven't seen any of that yet. They experimented with you being able to pit Clickers against human enemies in the Left Behind DLC pack, so expect we'll see some cool stuff in that department as they continue to evolve it.
@get2sammyb True.
Different types and evolutions of infected could change it up nicely. Would be cool to see some difficult bosses, but I know that’s not ND’s way.
I actually haven't watched any trailer, except for the reveal trailer. Tryna keep the experience as fresh as possible, cause I know this game is going to be bananas 🍌🔥
@Shepherd_Tallon you just need to copy and paste the address of the gif inside the image tags [img.][/img.] (without the fullstops) so it should work
I've still not played TLOU because, frankly, that period in time was chock-full of zombie things and I'm kinda zombied out. It's never been my favourite genre and part of me just can't really be bothered. At least TLOU2 is finally going to have an LGBT main lead in a proper AAA game. It's a step forwards anyway.
@FullbringIchigo Same. Found the original to be a boring and fairly standard post-apocalyptic zombie narrative, and this one isn't looking to have improved on the original in any significant way. Hopefully there's more meaningful interactivity with the environment and less obnoxious busywork in the final release.
Wait, are people really not that excited about TLOU 2? TLOU isn’t in my top tier list of games but that E3 gameplay trailer was incredible. And it’s Naughty Dog.
@Shepherd_Tallon hey it's all in good fun, plus it's Christmas soon, goodwill to all you know
@get2sammyb that picture is Sammy and Taylor Swift.😂.word up son
@nessisonett you are not making any sense at all.because Ellie is a lesbian that's why you going to play the last of us 2.and you never play the first one because you was tired with zombie game.what zombie game that was realeased I in 2013.😒word up son
100% sure there will be new trailer for tga, but I think nd will surprise us by giving the release date too
@playstation1995 I wish.
@FullbringIchigo why don't you go play Mario..and zelda and play halo.word up son
The negative nancies always strike in full force on every article related to a Sony exclusive, unbelievable...
I don’t believe it will have a big revelation in the end of the year for The Last of Us 2.
Sony would make a PSX and a conference for the reveal alone.
@playstation1995 Actually i really like the Zelda series, been playing that since the original. on the NES
The first is one my favourite games I've ever played, but I don't want to be hit with disappointment so I'm steering clear of most trailers and news regarding the sequel.
The other girl's nose is mesmerisingly big.
@FullbringIchigo Ditto. The first game was good, but overrated. The narrative was top notch, but the gameplay was so poor.
@ztpayne7 Yep, we exist. I'm not interested at all. Might eventually get the GotY edition when it's super cheap.
@playstation1995 I don't think it was so much zombie games but The Walking Dead was massive back then and there were films like World War Z trying to do the same thing on the big screen. I'll probably get round to it at some point but at the time I just wasn't really interested. I also wasn't saying that I'd only play it because Ellie was a lesbian but it's more that I'm glad that ND are putting representation in their games because it might mean that other companies do the same
@FullbringIchigo never was a fan of Zelda.word up son
@FullbringIchigo you do realize theres a lot of people that says the legend of Zelda breath of the wild was trash right.word up son
I thought the first game was OK - nothing special and flawed in its game design - I expected more from ND. The story was predictable too. I think maybe because I disliked Joel as a main character, it made it difficult to get too engaged with the story and so I was more able to see the game-play for what it was. I much preferred Uncharted 3.
I am still looking forward to Last of Us 2 though. Some of the issues with the first were more down to the limitations of the hardware so I hope that ND can bring more to this from a game-play perspective. Whilst I thought the first was OK from a ND perspective, that still put it well above a lot of other games that released. An OK from ND is still better than what Bethesda are putting out lately. OK is compared to ND's excellent Uncharted games rather than OK compared to every game released on PS3.
Having a 2yr anniversary of its 'reveal' really shouldn't happen in my book. This just says to me that Sony were too premature in their announcements and why it seems we see the same 'few' games every year at E3, Gamescom etc. I don't know why Sony needed to reveal it so soon - maybe to make MS's exclusive line-up look even more bare bones because they have all these great games coming up in 2, 3 or even more years. A year, at most, is all that's necessary in my opinion - not too soon that you end up being bombarded by information as they try and hype it but not so long that it seems a lifetime (in gaming terms) away and see the same titles year after year.
@RainbowGazelle well of course you exist lol. Coming from someone who really dislikes every rockstar game (except RDR2), MGS 3, and thought Monster Hunter World was the worst game on 2018, I know everyone has different tastes. I’m just surprised there’s so many people who think meh on it.
@playstation1995 yep and i don't argue with them about it, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if they don't like something i do then that's fine not everyone is going to like what i do and i'm not going to like everything others do
I thought the first was brilliant and deserving of the praise it got, so I absolutely cannot wait to dive into this! Hopefully we see more!
@get2sammyb lolol, its true.... there is always one
They are not Zombies.
I love the bit near the beginning of the first game where Ellie impresses Joel and he subconsciously looks at his watch that Sarah gave him. It's a subtle way of telling you of the bond forming.
@playstation1995
“you do realize theres a lot of people that says the legend of Zelda breath of the wild was trash right.”
And…? I bet a handful of those people have even played the game.
Any acclaimed game is going to face some backlash. There are also a lot of people that “says” “The Last of Us” and “Horizon: Zero Dawn” and “God of War” are trash. They’re in a minority, but they do exist. I’m not sure why that’s relevant though—you like what you like, and it’s clear that a lot of people also love those games. Trying to hold up the existence of negative opinions as some sort of “proof” that a game is terrible is silly—especially in the case of games like “Breath of the Wild” or “God of War” which also received huge numbers of rave reviews.
Judging by reviews from both critics and general gamers, a lot more people—myself included—consider “Breath of the Wild” one of the best games of the current gen, rather than “trash.”
“why don’t you go play Mario..and Zelda and play halo.”
Your response is like a Nintendo fanboy spitefully declaring that someone who doesn’t like “Zelda” should go play “Uncharted” and “Red Dead Redemption 2,” as if playing those games is going to be considered a terrible fate by most gamers. It doesn’t really make any sense.
Naughty Dog just confirmed The Last of Us: Part II won't be at The Game Awards. =(
@Sondheimist god of war is one of the best game of all time.but you also have hypocrites.they say cod .or star wars.battlefield.is trash but they still buy the games anyway dawg.word up son
