Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, an 8-bit spin-off to the Castlevania-inspired Kickstarter title Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, will whip its way onto the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita next week. Available for $9.99, the old-school Inti Creates platformer will see you assume the role of a demon slayer named Zangetsu, who’ll partner with three other characters as you progress. You’ll be able to toggle between these heroes on the fly, unlocking access to new moves and abilities.
Those of you who backed the original Kickstarter campaign beyond the $28 tier will get the game for your platform of choice for free, which is a nice touch – although it was always promised. As far as we’re concerned, this actually looks better than Ritual of the Night – but we’re sure not everyone will agree in the comments section.

Nice.i love those 8 bit games.its crazy now those 8 bit games are call indies now.back in the 1980s and early 1990s.those 8 bit games.were in stores.and people were buying them in retail.at toys r us and other big name store.haha.times does change.word up son
ritual of the night sounds cooler than curse of the moon, the new title sounds like a werewolf game than a vampire one.
@Lekzie1 it's a different game, they haven't renamed the old game
Awesome - I'd forgotten I was getting this
@FullbringIchigo oops sorry forgot that ritual of the night is not an 8bit game but more like 2.5d sidescroller
Not sure if I want to get this on PS4 or the console that shall not be named. Might go with the the console that shall not be named so that way I can play it in bed at night.
Got to love some old school Castlevania action, can't wait for this and of course its bigger brother as we'll never get another true entry in the series, so bring on these and **** Konami

Aesthetically? Gameplay-wise? Price? Or are you just trying to rile up the comments section
Got email from ks a couple of days ago, I didn't know backing this game will get me another free games, nice
I don't have the email yet but I have backed 3 digital versions (PS4,Vita,Wii U) and I am looking forward to it.
Ooh I'll get this on the Vita. The pixel art is nicer than the "2.5D" in Ritual of the Night.
Ill get this on my vita. It looks ace and perfectly suited to the platform.
Vita?
Now you have my attention! Looks great!
@GraveLordXD I believe it's the same day. Either that or next Thursday, when they release all their new eShop games.
Looks like a great game for the Vita. Definitely has my interest. Loved Symphony of the Night but it's a huge ask to expect either game to match that. Fingers crossed!
You know, I've been meaning to ask this. How come it is voodoo mention a Nintendo product like the Switch or 3DS, but it's NOT voodoo to mention a Microsoft product like the Xbox One?
P.S: Please don't attack me. I know this is a PlayStation centric site, but if you're gonna do that, you might as well not talk about anything Xbox related either.
P.P.S: You can correct me if I'm wrong.
Whudda nice surprise! But...I backed this game at $28 (not above), so I don't get it for free then? Also, I wonder if this is cross-buy (PSVita + PS4)...otherwise, I'm definitely getting it for the Vita.
@Slasher If you're talking about "console that shall not be named" in the comments above...I think they were talking about the PSVita!
@smelly_jr In the 28$ pledge you are eligible for the 8bit game. It is not cross-buy though.
Usually, I don't give a damn about 0-bit games, but the nostalgia is strong with this one. Can't say no, really. Definitely getting it on psvita.
@smelly_jr @Slasher We can discuss other consoles here whether it be Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft or many of the others. The whole console that showed not be named is just a running gag that's all. The only time that we don't like it is when people start console begging or derailing comment section discussing the Switch version or how the Nintendo version got screwed over with an inferior version, things like that.
Hmmm, Vita or the-console-that-shall-not-be-named? It's a good fit for both, honestly. I might go for the Vita version just to have trophies and the better D-Pad.
@Slasher It's a joke. Admins were getting annoyed when people wouldn't shut up about the Switch in the comment sections of articles unrelated to it.
Switch is a good console with some drawbacks.
PS4 is a good console with some drawbacks.
Xbone is a good console with some drawbacks.
There we go. That's all you need to be aware of.
Now on topic this looks like a blast! I used to love the old NES castlevania games so I'll definitely be picking this up.
The important question is will the Pro be native 4k or use checkerboard?
I like a good retro game, but the question will be can it live up to the likes of to the likes of Axiom Verge, Hollow Knight and Dead Cells? The Metroidvania scene is pretty strong and well represented at the moment.
I prefer 16 bit but this one looks very good anyway! And I agree that it looks better than Ritual of the night!
