T'is that time of the month yet again where we ask you to ponder which PlayStation Plus freebies you want in May 2017. We're expecting the lineup to be revealed this coming Wednesday (26th April) ahead of a 2nd May roll out. Unfortunately the release schedule's currently looking quite barren on that day, so your guess is as good as ours.
Could it be another month of Sony dipping into its archives? Consumer satisfaction is at an all-time low with the Instant Game Collection right now, but is the selection really as bad people make it out to be, or are expectations completely misaligned? The likes of Tearaway Unfolded and LittleBigPlanet 3, for example – both recent giveaways – are critical darlings.
We suppose the question is: what would make you happy in May 2017? Are there any games in particular that you'd be delighted with? Try to keep things relatively reasonable in the comments section below, and we'll obviously bring you the full official lineup the second that it breaks. Stay tuned for that.

Amnesia Collection? Dishonored: Definitive Edition? The Turing Test? Toukiden: Kiwami?
Destiny
@robjewitt Ahh yes, very realistic.
Perhaps it's time for killzone or knack to shine. Third party wise I'm thinking far cry 4 or Assassin's creed IV? Feel like that happened already no?
@get2sammyb Ha! Well, it is at the end of it's shelf life with D2 around the corner
I just want Mekazoo, which seems like a reasonable request. It's an indie that flew under the radar.
Lego Avengers on Vita
Shadow of Mordor, Sniper Elite 3, and Guardians of the Galaxy on PS4
Gimme vaccine.
I'm sure a lot of people would like to see more games from major third party studios such as Ubisoft, EA, and 2K. But I personally want to see the God of War Collection mainly since it has been discontinued for some time now and some PS2 classics on PSplus.
I gave up years ago thinking I may actually get a game on PS+ that I would actually want or play. Games that I would have predicted or even thought might have been offered by now have not and as I have no idea what indie/arcade games are out and couldn't care less about them anyway.
Que Sera, Sera... If it happens to be of interest to me - bonus! If not, no different from normal...
Games that are actually good and attracts both the casual and/or hardcore audience, and not just simple indie games (with low replayability) and mediocre third party titles.
I'm guessing inFamous 2nd Son as I'll probably finish it this weekend and that's the way the world works.
They'll probably save Knack for closer to Knack 2.
Xbox Live Gold is getting a couple of Star Wars games - Lego SW Saga Complete and Force Unleashed 2 (which I've never played so that's nice) - probably due to May 4th, so I'll guess a couple of Star Wars games here as well.
Whatever games they are, I'm guessing mostly lackluster and unappealing to most commenters on this site.
"Bad IGC" is as subjective as always. Lovers In a Dangerous Spacetime has been a hit in me and my friend's hangout sessions, really a gem of local co-op. 10 Second Ninja has proved a lot more addictive than I expected. On the other hand, I'm running out of familiar indies to fancy in future giveaways (there are many I'd have wished for if they hadn't already been featured). Wait, I'm not - there are titles like Shovel Knight, Crypt of the Necrodancer and Another World (not an indie but in the same price category as the aforelisted ones), all conveniently cross-buy titles. Among PS4-only titles, maybe something like The Little Acre?
Otherwise, I might as well reiterate my wish for some JRPGs, animesque fighters (we got one recently, but I mean something beyond PS3), racing games - and revisiting the retro library PSN is already sitting on. Among first-party Vita titles, LittleBigPlanet might not be likely so soon after 3, but wishful thinking is a free action.
Something thats not a platformer/puzzle/arcade game. Also tearaway and lb3 are so similar that they both cater to the exact same audience (not me, sadly)
I want either over cooked or grow up
Honestly don't care now. I buy any games I want, and sales mean that you can pick up releases for pennies anyway. It would be nice to get something good but I'm past caring now.
The order? Just cause 3? To much?
I want PaRappaThrRapper and not a demo!
I want Everything
To be honest with the current backlog and quality of releases it would have to be bloody spectacular for me to even take a look. I hope Amnesia or Gravity Rush Remastered but it will be something I already have no doubt. Would love a psvr game that.
Considering that most of the games I tend to wish for never end up on ps+, I wish for indie games this time. Doesn't matter how good or bad. I want an indiefest!
Abzu, Firewatch, Inside or The Witness. Something like that please.
Need for Speed
no doubt its somethink ive already bought
Might be just where I'm at with gaming but I honestly can't remember the last PS+ game I regularly played or even played at all. Maybe Journey actually when it came to PS4.
@Eternallover21 Stories is still one of my favourite PS4 games so far. So much charm, so much comical and tragical blended together, and even collecting the endings doesn't feel tedious since the levels have surprisingly flexible length. This War of Mine was an exciting discovery for me, too. Vita treated me to VVVVVV and I got dragged in so much, I've even V-ranked three time trials by now - and I usually suck at this stuff! Color Guardians, Tiny Troopers, The Swindle - there have been many games I could have missed out on if not for PS+. So while getting desired stuff like LittleBigPlanet or Severed is sweet, I appreciate IGC for expanding my library and scope. It's like a monthly excursion into video games (especially as every month tends to offer a distinct variety of genres within one offering). Considering that I mainly subscribed for the cloud storage, the deal's quite a bargain between all this stuff and the often impressive discounts. If/when we get a bigger caliber (like Resident Evil, LBP3 or Tearaway), that's just extra neat.
@naruball
Cue Witcher 3
Cue Final Fantasy XV
...cue the accursed alarm clock.
Do you think they will ever add dlc to the free monthly list for plus? It could bring back an audience for some older games.
@get2sammyb Amnesia Collection would be great.
For me Life IS Strange would be nice on PS4. I purchased the 1st 2 episodes on the PS3 but not the remaining episodes.
Minecraft, Grow Home, anything from Assassin's Creed, or LittleBigPlanet3
I haven't been displeased with resent igc. This month 10 second ninja is really a fun game. I would like to see the order, I've been wanting to check it out but after mixed reviews I haven't bought it. I kinda like the selection they offer, games I would of never even gave a thought about. Oh, risk if rain would be a good one. I own it already but that is a good game people should check out.
Inside would be great!
Fairy Fencer F and maybe Dragon Fin Soup for PS3 would be nice!
@pistonmix Wasn't LittleBigPlanet 3 one of the offerings in January? ö
I want inside but i know that's not going to happen
Something that isn't another bland 8-bit indie game that I'll get bored of after a couple of hours.
I would echo the call for Life Is Strange which is at least deemed to be good
Thumper or Hitman Season One would be excellent, though I doubt either of those will happen.
To be honest, I don't really mind what the games will be, as I have enough to be getting on with already
Darksiders warmastered edition would be nice.
@Quintumply Yes great picks. I want these too!
Ps Plus is great for games I almost buy. Would love to see Her Majesty's Spiffing, The Turing Test and Tales From Borderlands
The Last of Us Remastered has been super cheap lately and I've just been cash strapped, wouldn't mind that.
Anything I don't already own is a bonus. I let my humble monthly lapse for next month, same with Gold. Just too many games i either already own or won't have time for.
I'd like Portal Knights but that's not going to happen... Or something Star Wars like the PS2 emulation as I have Battlefront already.
My wish list: Abzû, Rory mcilroy PGA tour, I am setsuna and Trackmania Turbo
After Drawn to Death anything would be a step up! xD
Does it almost seem to others that we got a bunch of Media Molecule games because they need to finance their game Dreams more? I hope it comes out...
I want Phantom Breaker Battleground (PS4/Vita)
Some english translated visual novels
I know its been bad, but No Man's Sky wouldn't hurt for free games (i havent played it at all)
Back in the days, when PS Plus not mandatory for PS4 Multiplayer, they really gave neat games, hope they will give cool old games again.
@robjewitt Still its Activision. Remaster DLC more expensive then its original counterpart.
@ShadowForks Is that not a Sony studio?
@pistonmix LBP 3 was last wasnt it?
Nicky-Knack-y-Noo!
I doubt we'll see it but it would make sense to make Star Wars Battlefront one of the games for May. With Microsoft getting other Star Wars games, this would be Sony's chance to one-up them again. Also, it would be great advertisement for EA and the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront game.
@Kyroki Think I may crack and buy it this month
Gravity Rush Remastered would be lovely please Sony.
Id like to see something akin to Devil May Cry 4 on there.
It would be a pretty solid change of pace.
We should be finding out May's IGC titles sometime tomorrow morning. Next Tuesday could be awesome? Who knows, but the last couple months, especially March were really good for PS3 PS+ members!
