Ace Combat 7 looks every inch the cheesy dogfighting successor that you've been dreaming of, and now it's bagged an equally camp Skies Unknown subtitle. The game – which will release later this year with PlayStation VR features – was announced at PlayStation Experience a while back, and now has received an extended trailer hinting at some of the story elements.
We're really loving the look of this; visually the cloud technology is really impressive, but the cut-scenes look suitably stupid as well. It's being written by the dude behind Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies, which is always a win as far as we're concerned.
We actually got a chance to interview the game's producer Kazutoki Kono a few months back, and you can read what he had to say through here. Are you liking the look of this high-flyer? Do a barrel roll in the comments section below.

So dumb!
Will it be playable without VR or is it VR only?
Man, that cheese stinks. Love it! This and RE7 are making me seriously consider diving into VR.
Just want to remember you guys, the game is also coming to the XBO and PC, which is weird because at during PSX 2015 and 2016, they said that it was a PS4 exclusive.
@Bonito You can play without. It's only extra levels and stuff that are in VR.
@SoulsBourne128 They never said it was exclusive. They just only announced it for PS4 (as you'd expect at a PlayStation event).
@get2sammyb I see. However, Dualshockers always mentioned the game as a PS4 exclusive. It was even mentioned on Gamespot's list of upcoming PS4 exclusives of 2017.
@SoulsBourne128 They were both wrong, then.
@get2sammyb This and Ni no kuni 2. Why dont they say it straight out of the gate. For me exclusives are the only reason for buying a console. I would not buy a PlayStation if everything can be played on Pc. That frustrates me sometimes. The closure of guerrilla cambridge and other Sony studios means its going that direction in the future...
@Sanquine Both games were announced for PS4. It's up to the publishers to say what other systems they're coming to. Sony's not going to go up on stage and say anything other than PS4, for obvious reasons.
@get2sammyb But why on an event called PlayStation Experience.. -_-
I mean they could also publish an extra trailer for their own games.
@Sanquine Maybe the publishers weren't sure what platforms to bring the game to before they were announced.
The first Ace Combat I played was Squadron Leader (5 I think?) and, to my surprise, it became one of my favourite PS2 games. The next one I played was Assault Horizon on PS3, which was far worse.
It certainly looks like Skies Unknown is leaning more towards the former, so I'm 100% in. Love the cheesy story and dialogue.
