While we may question how good Final Fantasy XV's gameplay looks, there's one thing that we simply can't deny: the game is very, very pretty - and we're not just talking about its stereotypical pretty boy cast. Square Enix has released a huge pile of fresh screenshots that showcase everything from environments to character and monster models, and it all just looks bloody lovely.
Without question, the developer's managed to put together a visually striking title, blending a lot of fine detail with some luxurious lighting and a load of flamboyant particle effects. We do think that the HUD is perhaps a little too busy in places, but aside from than that minor gripe, we could happily look at these pictures all day.
Take a look at the screens for yourself - remember, you can click on them to get a better view - and then let us know if you're feeling the hype in the comments section below.

It looks beautiful but there is something about this game that just looks boring...
@mrobinson91 Hmmm, I suppose it is a bit too neat and tidy maybe?
"New Final Fantasy XV Screenshots Prove It's a Preposterously Pretty PS4 Game"
I would even wanna go as far as saying its a preposterously pretty game on all platforms!
@ShogunRok You want more browns and grays?
@ShogunRok I can't put my finger on it! I'll probably get it because I'm intrigued by what it's going to offer, but so far the combat and controls have really put me off. Not overly sold on the looks either...although that Venice looking city looked bloody amazing!
Pretty! This is aiming for 30 fps and 1080p on Ps4, pretty amazing...
Everything looks great about this game except those boring a** characters. I mean seriously, couldn't they come up with something more interesting than a bunch of Japanese clichés of masculinity and style? Horrible. Their hair is almost as stupid as the one guys tattoos. ... Otherwise, yeah, can't wait to play.
The problem is the framerate, the game's demos doesn't play smoothly on ps4.
@Riririn Don't think neat and tidy necessarily means it needs more gritty colours, but I do think it looks incredibly clean, like everything's been polished to a shine. Not saying it's a bad thing, either, just thought it was worth a debate.
Very pretty.
Shame about the frame rate, the characters, and the gameplay...
I never thought I would say this but it looks even more boring than XIII
I think The Witcher 3's Blood & Wine looks prettier.
@sketchturner Maybe it's not for you, then. Anyway, the frame rate on ps4 was an almost fixed 30fps for the E3 demo...that is much more of what we can say for game the don't ever get maligned about like The Witcher 3 or Zelda Breath of the Wild.
@Feena I think you meant to say "almost never fixed" and nothing gameplay wise comes close to matching Witcher 3 thus far. As for Zelda, I'm just gutted it's Nintendo only, could be amazing, concentrating on new (to Zelda) gameplay and systems. Almost close to buying the console for that one game!
I liked the gameplay and the visual is just perfect, that said, the cast is uninspiring to me.
@ApostateMage Yeah, I like less photo-realism in my fantasy games. UC:4 was amazing, too. I'm just not a fan of this art style graphics. It looks great, though!
@stevejcrow hello, facts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZnmCmAkN54
If the gameplay is not your style I can comprehend it, I have very strong doubts about it myself. Just saying this game gets more trash talking for the frame rate than games that have a way worst performance.
@mrobinson91
Maybe because it takes its inspiration for wide open fields and long highway stretches from the U.S.? As someone from the U.S., I can attest that yes, long highway stretches get really boring, especially when all you have to see are fields or mountains. (T_T ) (the city looks better, but that's because Venice> Highway any day).
I'm looking forward to the game but I'm not happy that your party is practically a sausage fest. But I'm willing to still give it a try because I really like Ignis.
@Feena I've got both demos and thought both had their moments frame rate wise, so don't need to watch a video of the E3 Xbox demo thanks. I'm under no illusion that other games have and still have problems in this area, I can't bear to watch just cause 3 never mind play it some times, but gameplay compensates. The time I've had with FF demos hasn't put my mind at rest and will wait for reviews.
I've got a 1TB hard drive that was recommended performance wise, maybe I've just been unlucky?
@NintendoFan4Lyf I've tried to convince myself to buy a Wii u on numerous occasions, Nintendo have been my "team" since the 90's but money is always the stumbling block unfortunately and they don't seem to lose their value, presumably because the first party games are so good. Went with PS4 this generation (already persuading sensible me that a Neo is more important than food) but still miss the big N magic!
@stevejcrow no it's fair, the demos had frame rate issues and they seem to really have worked on that - that is very good thing IMHO. The video I linked is a technical analysis and it's a pretty consistent 30fps on xbox one, it runs even better on ps4. I can totally understand and respect our decision to put the game on hold after platinum demo though, it was discomforting.
Wow I feel like push square is the only place where we can have different opinions on story , graphics n gamplay an not get blast and turn into salty flame war. Great people on here really.
Im liking the gamplay really kingdom heartish, and it looks good , just worried about plot and pacing. If the characters are repersented like they were in brotherhood, Then Im onboard with the cast, just wish they varied more in color. All black clothing on each one is a bit much. Here is hoping I didnt spend 250 in a crap game lol.
@Boerewors I believe Ps4 was added for alliteration.
Pretty, yes. But it seems weak for now...will see in the future
HD diner hype!
It's Final Fantasy, of COURSE it is going to look exceptional. No matter the failings of the recent FF entries they are ALWAYS some of the best looking games out there, been that way since 7 really. My gripe is with the combat, I am hoping the demo just wasn't long enough for the combat to really find its groove and get fun.
Looks absolutely stunning. I got an unusual optimism that this entry will restore ff to glory.When Sept 30 comes around this will be all I play for months. I'm still looking forward to this way more than is normal.
Husbando collector: the game <3 <3
@AyeHaley
I know, right? this is total fujoshi material.
(゚ ロ、゚; ) w-w-what? Me?!
of course I'm not talking about myself! baka!
Final Fantast XV?? Isn't it time someone sued Square Enix for selling products with misleading labels.
