Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is finished, and if you believe industry gossip, series creator Hideo Kojima is soon to be a free agent. This photograph of the legend posing with PlayStation 4 architect Mark Cerny was certain to draw attention, then. The picture was posted on Twitter earlier today, though the meeting does seem pretty informal.
But what does it all mean? Well, in truth, nothing. Despite his strong ties to PlayStation, Cerny's not actually a Sony employee – he designed the PS4 under contract. There is obviously speculation about what Kojima will do next, though, and we've no doubt that he could find a home under the Japanese giant's Worldwide Studios umbrella. The question is: would the platform holder want to spend $50 million or so on a title that may not emerge for five or six years?
