Super Meat Boy will stick like glue to the PlayStation 4 and Vita next month, after developer Team Meat once hinted that the title would never arrive on Sony hardware. Contractual issues famously prevented the legendary platformer from testing your patience on the PlayStation 3, but you'll finally be able to get your teeth stuck in to the meaty release from 6th October according to a PlayStation.com product page.
When it was announced for the PS4 and Vita earlier in the year, the developer confirmed that the cross-buy title will be given away as a PlayStation Plus freebie, and the aforementioned date certainly tallies with when we expect the Instant Game Collection to update. The question is: will you be happy to receive this release without charge, or is the abundance of indie outings on the service starting to wear you out?

Great news. Been waiting a while for this... Now to decide- play on avita or Ps4?
Very happy. Popular and well received indie games are usually worth playing in my experience. And on the Vita too ,woohoo!
Speaking of Vita.
I got one a few months ago and after playing and enjoying Uncharted Golden Abyss,Killzone Mercenary and Rogue Legacy I have barely touched it.
I feel like 90% of the Vita's library is anime-ish games. Which I have no interest in. I might give this a shot.
There are very few indie games I'd like to see on PS Plus, one being Shovel Knight. A platformer in which you have to die over and over to learn how to get past the level is not my cup of tea.
Sounds good to me! I still play Binding of Issac so anything from Team Meat is good news.
Super meat boy is overrated (saying that alot recently) its fun for an hour, that's it.
Crap. If this is the pillar of next months ps plus Sony are gonna get hammered.
@Kea83
Vita: makes the game even harder with those twitchy thumbsticks!
I dunno what it is, but I hate playing indies on my home consoles or PC, but once I see them on my vita screen I can sink hours and hours in games I'd normally skip.
@Splat
Lumines... That's all I'm saying.
Wooooo, can't wait to burst a couple blood vessels on this!
I can't say this type of game interests me at all so probably won't bother. Hopefully though it will be with a game I don't have and want...
I must admit to being disappointed by the game offerings on PS+ for PS4 but in fairness, the games are not the reason I bought my PS+ subscription anyway...
Not a big fan but to be honest i think 95% of the games i have had since ps plus started on ps4 have personally been awful. I have tried them all seeing as they are there, however they mostly do nothing for me at all.
I don't look forward to the PS Plus updates anymore. The PS3 and Vita games have really fallen off a cliff as well; it's not just the PS4's offerings.
I picked this up back on the XB360 when it first released. Its a really good game if you like hard platform games. I doubt I'll bother downloading it to my PS4 but I think it will be a great fit for my Vita.
No interest, other than the odd indie and JRPG the Vita is pretty much 6 feet under.
@Mrskinner 95% is being a little harsh, don't you think? I agree that their has been a fair few, but nowhere near 95%.
@WARDIE i meant personally for me, not making a general assessment.
It's a decent game but I've had it on PC for years and the N series is better so I can't say I'm excited to get a PSN version.
thought so
well I have it on my 360 and although I loved the style (graphics and music) and the gameplay (really fast, very precise and spot on controls) I never even got halfway through it and stopped playin out of frustration
and for everyone thats interested one advice: the game is really really tough
Been ages since I played this and I'm sure they will have added some stuff for this release (playable characters etc) and it's free so why not. That being said surely it is time that Sony shook things up a little. If they can sell Killzone for £11.99 surely they could give it away on PS+ to silence the naysayers followed by Knack and LBP 3 (already £15.99 on PSN) down the stretch. Perhaps one every two months. Oh and Escape Goat 2. The great lost Indie game. Never discounted, unplayed and unreviewed . Don't want it for £8 but for free? Sign me up.
I played it what feels like about 5 years ago on the 360, and again on Steam. I mean, the indie thing is partly justifiable if they're new or recent games. This is kind of like Valve giving Half-Life 2 away for free.
Honestly this game has an artstyle that isn't retro indie pixels and has gameplay I'll take it, although I could do without ripped of jokes from the internet.
Yawn
Im good thanks.
It makes a change seeing a platformer on the IGC though…
