You could have made an argument that Dead or Alive 5: Last Round's downloadable content had gone too far months ago, but now it's really becoming difficult to defend its business model. Announced today on its official Twitter account, Koei Tecmo's releasing a second season pass for the brawler that'll be available on the 22nd July, and it'll come with an exclusive secret agent outfit for Honoka.
Now, we don't have any qualms with those who like to splash out on the game's many premium costumes. Last Round's a good looking title - especially on PlayStation 4 - and it must be nice to add a bit of variety to each match, but it's the sheer amount of available DLC that's slightly troubling - not to mention how expensive it all is. The release's first season pass, for example, currently costs a whopping £73.99. That said, it turns out to be considerably cheaper than buying whole sets individually, as they can range from £11.99 to £24.99.
Still, if you wanted access to every new costume, you'd be dishing out a huge amount of dosh either way - far more than the cost of the actual game. In that sense, it seems a bit unbelievable that the release is getting another season pass.
What do you make of all this? Are you sitting there shaking your head, or do you think that the title's DLC policy's not all that bad? Dress yourself up in the comments section below.

Of course, knowing myself, I'm gonna cave in, at least going by the European price, it is cheaper than the first one. I doubt the Halloween one for this year will be a part of it, last year, it was around $30.
So will there be a Last, Last Round will all DLC included in the future? Not even Capcom is this greedy, and that is saying much.
@sinalefa That's the thing: Last Round doesn't even include that much DLC to begin with - the vast majority of stuff could simply be carried over from previous editions if you'd already bought it.
When I am played the vita tv version there was no real difference, these guys are too funny
No extra characters either? blimey..
DOA 5 burned me hard especially after how well Dimensions was handled, just such an off putting way to do dlc.
this has become one of my favorite games ever but I waited until last round and not gonna spend on any DLC.. I'm still playing on PS3, if by the time I buy a PS4 there's a version of last round with everything included I'll get that...
I don't blame Team Ninja for this, I blame whoever keeps buying the costumes, they wouldn't be releasing so many of them unless someone were buying them
This makes Destiny look generous, and that's saying soemthig. I can't believe people actually buy this. Are they that eager for more fighter porn costumes?
@Jaz007 Lust can make people do terrible things.
I don't blame the company one bit. If there are people who will pay a ridiculous amount of money, then by all means take advantage.
Not for me, but more power to them if that's how they make money. I'm not really into cosmetic dlc, especially when it's that expensive, but I don't see any reason to be offended by it, you can take it or leave it and it won't affect gameplay anyway.
Yeah, this DLC is easily avoided and has no effect on the game whatsoever. It's like people crying over the fact you can pay for easy fatalities in MK X. When something should get people p*ssed, nobody says a damn thing, when it's something very, very small however, the gaming world is collapsing.
Erm... they are just costume... You can choose not to buy it...
I should complain why they making Fallout 4 because I don't like Fallout games....
If the game is i can understand they charge for cosmetics but not when the game is fullprice. And 2 seasonpasses is to much just make a new game with all the stuff at once.
To each their own.
Whilst some people will no doubt welcome this, others won't. Sure, you don't have to buy it, and that's the bottom line. What lurks beneath it all however is a continuing trend within the industry that shows publishers/devs feel it's fine to monetize every last pixel to within an inch of its life. It's sad that we as consumers have actually not only allowed it to be this way, but actually perpetuated the cycle by handing over our money without question.
Business is business, and they will forever work on the notion that a fool and his money are easily parted. Soon you'll have to buy a Season Pass in order to pre-order the Season Pass with which you can buy all the DLC to unlock the actual game.
I have got and played the past games but I refused to get this I want to get it again now as its on sale but one look at the dlc just confuses me I would like to buy the game and all the dlc for last round and the PS3 version but have got no clue what to buy to get that goal sorted
