Yesterday’s big PlayStation 3 v4.50 firmware update wasn’t the best in the console’s history, but it certainly brought with it a handful of nifty improvements – including the ability to transfer data between the console and the PlayStation Vita without having to plug in a pesky cord. Unfortunately, many of you have struggled to get the wireless functionality working – and that’s because it’s not quite ready to go yet.

Asked about the feature on Twitter, omnipresent Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that the handheld will need to be refreshed before the cable-free option can actually be used. “A future Vita update is needed,” he explained. “There’s no date as of yet. Please stand by.” It seems like the platform holder would have been better off not confirming the functionality until all of the pieces were in place. Still, it’s something to look forward to.
