Topic: Why do you love/hate the Vita?

I just bought a Vita 1000 back in the Spring, knowing that Sony has pretty much given up on it. I had trouble finding information on why some people loved the Vita while others absolutely hated it so here are my reasons for why I love/hate my Vita.
Love
1. Screen: the OLED screen on the 1000 model is absolutely beautiful.
2. Games: I never owned a PS2 and love the fact that I can play games like MGS HD Collection, Persona 4 Golden, and Final Fantasy X HD. These games are beautiful on the Vita's smaller screen compared to being stretched out on a larger screen via PSTV or the PS3 versions. Those little indie games that come to PS Plus are perfect for the Vita as they are usually playable in short bursts. Being able to play PSP games such as Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and MGS Peace Walker is just icing on the cake.
3. Controls: The Vita fits my hands much better than the 3DS and I find myself able to play it for much longer periods of time than I could my 3DS. The spacing of the buttons is more comfortable for me as well.
Hate
1. PSONE Classics: Why aren't all these available to download directly on the Vita Sony? I no longer have a PS3 so I have no way of getting certain ps1 games on my Vita (Metal Gear Solid).
2. Speakers: Could you have put the speakers anywhere besides behind your fingers while holding the Vita Sony?
3. Glossy: This is more a gripe about all glossy things that collect fingerprints. Fingerprints are the my mortal enemy and I wish every electronic device had a matte screen. (don't even with the screen protectors; the only thing worse than fingerprints is bubbles under a screen protector)
4. Memory: They are expensive. This has been covered before.

Love: Great selection of indies, jrpgs and some real gems such as Gravity Rush and Danganronpa. Love the access to ps one classics and psp games which greatly expands the library of games available on the vita. Love how you can play the first 10 final fantasy games plus tactics. Love how I can work through various series and classics that I missed before (Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania, Final Fantasy...)

Hate: Ridiculously expensive memory cards, no accessory to add extra triggers, lack of strategy games on the system (like Civilisation or Tropico) although it's rumoured X-com might be coming to the vita so that would help, no HDMi output.
Awesome System though, very underrated although I think a perquisite is a love of Indies and Jrpgs

Love: the insanely large selection of games, including old school classics as well as current stuff, is absolutely fantastic. And thanks to PS+ I've had a constant supply ever since the day I bought it and still not even close to running out! Remote Play is also great, even if the controls can be dodgy. I just love it for it's portability - it means I can be gaming all the time, wherever I go, and gives me so much more time to play games than I would have if I was restricted to just the home consoles!

Hate: memory card prices are a joke, and as @ShaneHego said it's a shame there's no accessory to add extra triggers to the original PCH-1000 model, like there is for the new slim models. Somebody needs to sort that out asap!

@T7L3RB: re MGS on the Vita, I am 99.99999% certain that I have successfully downloaded this direct to my Vita before, without transferring it from my PS3. Although it may not have it's own entry in the Vita store, you should still be able to do it from the download list if you own the game. If your DL list is anything like mine, finding it could take a while, but I am fairly confident you'll be able to do it this way. Have a try and let me know how you get on

@T7L3RB: I could be entirely wrong, but I am 99% certain I did it prior to going on holiday this time last year! From memory I've only hooked my vita up to the PS3 once and that was to transfer some FFVI save game data. Will double check this myself later on anyway as I've had a bit of a hankering to go back and re-play MGS1 anyway after smashing out MGS V!!

The only thing I hate is the excessive price of memory. It's somewhat set off by some good sales and no sales tax, but still it's outrageous. Then it appears that Sony has all but abandoned the console.

Pretty good selection of games. Nice screen. Good controls. PS Plus has been pretty cool. I like bluetooth for sound. It's just a nice impressive modern looking piece of hardware.

@T7L3RB: I had a look at this the other night, and for me MGS appears when I search for it in the store on Vita - what region are you in? I'm EU, so I wonder if maybe it's not in all regions native Vita stores.

@SteveButler2210: Yeah it's a US thing. MGS as of right now isn't available as a PSone Classic on the Vita. Not only does it not have a store page but it also says "cannot be downloaded using this device" on the download list as well.

There are a few issues to address with Vita love. I have had 2 Vitas, the first I ruined with a lousy controller/battery. My second is one from South America, and it works well, and it's still the 1000 model with the fabulous OLED screen. The chief complaint with Sony is the price of Vita memory cards. The fact of the matter is, that Sony needs to make money somewhere. They sell the Vita at a reduced price point that many phones would love to be at. It's physically capable to play HD games, and it's a beast of a system, but they sell it at a loss. They need to make money somewhere and the memory cards are that money maker, I bought a 32GB card and have had no reason to replace it. I am not anti-capitalist, nor am I a socialist, but a company needs money to survive and make more money to invest in other products. Does the 64GB card cost too much? Yes. But they need to make money to keep making things like the PS4.

@Hego: just stumbled across this article from a little while back http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/08/22/ps-vita-1000-l2r2-trig...

It's nothing concrete, but positive to know that a triggers accessory is being considered for the 1000 models. Would be a blessing for remote play!

It's an amazing piece of hardware, abandoned by it's parent company, found a new home with devs willing to appeal to a niche audience, while sacrificing the larger and more prominent handheld audience that is the 3DS.

In many ways I can relate to it, but It also has a great collection of games from PS1, PSP and the Vita, which I enjoy thoroughly and thus use my spare time playing them as I wait for greatness on the PS4.

I'll take the Vita to the grave with me, even if Sony won't.

@SteveButler2210: This would be amazing if they decide to put them into production, I'd order one in a heartbeat! It would just make things soooooo much easier thanks for the link! Let us pray to the gaming gods!

@SaiyanFury: Thats a good point I suppose, really when you think of it the Vita is pretty cheap considering how powerful a piece of hardware is plus the games aren't too expensive considering (and as someone mention theres so many sales on Vita games that you can build a good library pretty cheaply). Still it does sting a bit having to pay over €50 for a comfortable sized memory card although I guess it's understandable

Love the screen and some of the games like P4G, Tearaway and Soul Sacrifice.

Hate the tiny analog sticks and buttons, battery life as well as the cost of the memory cards.

The last time I charged my PS VITA was more than a month ago. Granted I've never played any games on it, is it odd that my PS VITA's battery power is still at 100%?

BlaBlaBla

No.
Sure it needs charging pretty fast when playing games, but on stand-by or off, it really amazes how long it takes before you need to charge it.

i never hated anything about the Vita, i thought it was a great little machine

i guess the only negative i have about it is the lack of support

still well worth the money though, in my opinion

@BlaBlaBla: Ah, cause it seemed to me that in the past the battery was draining eventhough my PS VITA was off.
