With many of us waiting for the big games of February before we purchase that big new game, besides dipping into our backlog of games I was wondering maybe there is some great dlc that I missed. What is some of the best dlc for ps5 or ps4 games? I am currently playing AC Valhalla and while far from getting to dlc, it has made me think I should maybe pick up Odyssey dlc and jump into those legends. Excuse my verbal garbage of a paragraph and pre-thanks to those who respond.
I don't buy DLC very often (usually the problem is that I've moved onto other games long before the DLC is released and I don't really feel like going back) but in recent history I really enjoyed all the DLC for Immortals: Fenyx Rising.
Also, the Iki Island for Ghost Of Tsushima was very good.
I really enjoyed the Iki Island expansion for GoT, that was excellent and introduced some new things into the game as well. I also enjoyed both bits of DLC for Control even playing them the second time round with the Ultimate Edition. I'm currently debating whether to buy the DLC for RE7 so still need to look at if it's worth it as it's 25 GBP at the mo.
If there's one game that I'd love some DLC for it's Returnal. I'd happily pay some money for that even though I bought the game at full price but I don't think it's going to happen.
Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep. I loved how the story was unique and refreshing yet it wrapped up the story of Borderlands 2 nicely. I recently played the stand alone version but I could have seen me playing the original DLC if my copy of the Handsome Collection wasn't in storage. If you enjoyed the Borderlands series then you will definitely enjoy Tiny Tina's.

Bloodborne’s DLC is absolutely a million times better than the base game, it fixes a lot of my issues with it. The Dark Souls 2 DLCs are also miles better than the base game. The AC Odyssey DLCs are really good actually, mostly just because Kassandra is a great protagonist. The Sims has had some great and some rubbish ones over the years. Best probably has to go to The Witcher 3’s expansions though.
All of the dlc from the Souls games and Bloodborne are probably my favourite ones I can remember.
The Shivering Isles for Elder Scrolls Oblivion was top too, and had some genuinely funny moments.
I have a bad history with purchasing dlc and never playing it, so have stayed well clear of it recently unless I'm ready to play it or it part of a GOTY edition or something.
It's been quite a long while since I played a DLC that was really really good. Bloodborne, The Witcher 3 (both!) and probably The Sims 4 come to mind as being pretty good (though often in a rough state). I also really appreciated Bioshock's DLC's, but those were released over a generation ago. I think the winner might be Shovel Knight, that game's DLC is just so top notch; always brings something new to the table that is very replayable and always still true to the core game.
Most DLC that gets released is for games I don't really need more of (Horizon, Assassin's Creed). And when there finally is a game that I really want more of, for some reason the devs don't make any DLC. Examples: Yoku's Express (!), Hades (!), Amplitude (!), Astro's Playroom (!), Red Dead Redemption 2 (!), Thronebreaker (!)... I can go on. Thinking about it, I really feel robbed that so many games I loved, didn't get any DLC.
P.S. The exclamation marks are for emphasis, one for every game felt fair.
Hearts of stone for witcher 3 for me. All of the depth and variety of witcher 3 with tight story telling, great variety in missions and the best villain, Gaunter O'Dimm. Technically a ps3 dlc but last of us left behind on the remastered is pretty good too.
The Witcher 3 - Both excellent pieces of DLC that put many games to shame with their size. They were both incredibly well written, as you'd expect from the main game, but I particularly loved Blood & Wine for it's send up of medieval tropes and Geralt's complete disdain for pretty much everything.
Borderlands 2 DLC - A great game with some really fun and varied DLC. The Tiny Tina one mentioned above was a highlight as a clever twist on table top RPGs.
Ghost of Tsushima - The Iki island DLC was a good addition with a solid separate storyline but one that built on the main character really well. It was also a beautiful location too.
Some others;
Bioshock Infinite - Burial at Sea was a clever revisit to the world of Bioshock and the second episode was particularly clever in the way it bought the different games together.
XCOM 2 - The War of the Chosen DLC completely overhauls the game in so many ways that it makes the game feel like XCOM 2.5. Especially good if, like me, you'd played the game a few times before as it made it feel so fresh again. The Chosen themselves were also really good boss fights.
Civilization - Civ 5 and Civ 6 have both had really good DLC which, similar to what I said about XCOM2, introduce new mechanics which allow you to have a fresh approach to the game.
So for me, great DLC either gives a single player game a short but well written isolated campaign with some new features or give a strategy game a new lease of life with new mechanics.
Great recommendations all! So many that I now have a dlc backlog I want to get into! I think I'll start with Witcher 3 dlc since I believe I own them. Ill look for the others as well and see if any are on sale.
@Elodin I know folks weren't blown away by it, but I really liked the Season Pass content for Marvel's Spider-Man, and reckon it's gonna be pretty important to the sequel's ongoing story. Just mentioning it because nobody else did, although they've given you plenty of great suggestions to be getting on with already!
"We want different things, Crosshair. That doesn't mean that we have to be enemies."
@RogerRoger ahh yes Spider-Man. Thanks for reminding me about the dlc, truly one of the great games. Knowing the dlc is good is a definite buy for me now.
