Topic: Drive Club Official Thread

This game does a terrible job easing in casual racing fans in to things like drifting. I miss arcade racing games. I guess we aren't getting any of those this gen.

Honestly I haven't played a good arcade style racing game in years unless you count Mario Kart. It's sad really game genres like racing and sports are becoming to sim like the last few years and it drives me nuts. I just want a sports game that I can pick up and play. If I want to analyze plays and pitching into the sweet spot I wouldn't be playing a video game. Well I guess if I want that I will have to stick with my Genesis and SNES.

Ok slowly getting a bit better but I want to ask a few questions. When drifting do I want to keep tapping the ebreak throughout the turn and then gas or do I just tap it once when entering the turn.

Also I am guessing the higher a cars drift rating the easier it is to drift in said car?

@Tasuki: I just press circle once and depending on the severity of the corner hold it in. Also watch your speed when facing different corners as sonetimes you can drift at full pelt whilst others you have to slow down.

The servers are off, does anyone know why. My inets on but the servers are down.

I'm not sure why, but I double tap circle to drift and then just manage the regular brakes and throttle. Seems to work and I have been grinding drift events for what seems like an age. Damn accolade trophy -_-

@Shellcore: Haha you will get it. I managed to get that platinum through drafting the cars in front. Reminds me of the way my wife drives. India on the track with the most turns 2nd easiest difficulty in hot hatch cars soyou dont fall out of the slip stream. You get 5-6 miles drafting in a 4 lap race.

@themcnoisy: Finally got it. Your way definitely sounds more efficient. Another plat in the chest. Now, time for Bastion. Been waiting to play it since I got it on sale.

What do we think of Bikes? I was pretty surprised to see it on the store today. Downloaded and had a few races, it's good. The lack of bikes is a shame but some what expected. I would have liked 250cc and 600cc classes. Maybe 125cc 2 strokes too.

I do like the fact it seems to have replaced my disc copy of DC. Didn't actually load any car races but everything looked to be there. Will test it then trade in the disc. Always wanted DC ready to go on my hard drive

Well I was wrong about being able to get rid of the disc, says I gotta buy the base game when I try to load a race. Doh. Hopefully I can reinstall the disc version and it'll recognise that I've purchased the bikes add on :S

Does pushsquare have a club in drive club?

@Mega-Gazz: Yes and no - the clubs are only 6 members altogether. So there's 2 pushsquare clubs and loads of off shoots.

@kyleforrester87: are there many / any new tracks added?

@SteveButler2210: euuuugh tough for me to say as I didn't play the original to completion and it seems there were regular content drops over the past year so I'm not sure if any new tracks came through then. All I can say is the 5-6 races i played last night weren't on new tracks.

It does feel quite different to the cars, very unrealistic but still fun.

The bikes are great, a little unrealistic but very fun, still need to take corners at proper apex as opposed to the cars being able to slide but said sliding does happen so you can get away with a bit...

@kyleforrester87: @dellyrascal: It's a shame you can't download a fixed period demo for the bikes to see if you like it. Oh well it does sound decent, so I reckon I'll probably get it!

@iDangerMouse_: depends on how you look at it, from what I can tell it also came with new tracks and a whole new trophy set (incl plat), making it pretty much a small game in its own right rather than bog standard DLC - I reckon that's pretty reasonable! And it's DriveClub, so based on previous form I doubt what's currently included in the bikes pack is all you'll get either. I reckon people that buy it will have some extra bits and bobs thrown in over the next couple months

They've already confirmed there's a couple of free bikes on the way!

I haven't actually had a chance to play it yet but I bought it as soon as I could, because Evolution have done absolute wonders with Driveclub. It's been completely turned around and is now comfortably one of the best PS4 exclusives, I'd say.

Can't wait to try the bikes out tonight!

I want to check out the bikes but I don't have anymore room on my hardrive for games I need to finish some so I can delete them to make room.

I had to make some room on my hard drive recently too. Think it may be worth investing in a 1TB or 2TB drive at some point!
