Nath, I'm a 'bumper view' driver using mostly a Sony 5.1 system (but also tv (Bravia) speakers), I haven't actually tried it with the Pulse cans yet.
The sound is very clever. All completely positional and as you point out, also dependant on where your view is.
I'm not a fan of any of the in car views, but, like in an actual car, it lessens the external sounds massively. I haven't unlocked any of the single sweaters yet, but it would be interesting to see how they compare.
The bumper view gets lots of sounds. Your own engine is big and that of other cars is perfectly delivered for me.

I am hoping that the PS+ version is still in the works. I want to check this game out but I really can't see me paying $60 for it. I guess I will wait till the PS+ version comes out or it hits the bargain bins.

They wouldn't dare go back on the PS+ version. I just hope we don't have to wait for November for it to come out.
I tried the first races online tonight.... Wow! it's incredibly funny.... even if sometimes the whole race turns into a demolition derby.... love how the cars differently behave and the tension of both online and offline races.... I really hope they are gonna fix the problems soon cos it is a great game.... not too much frustrating as simulators but not too arcadey as NFS.... great balance imho

So I have to ask is this game worth getting now that they had all the patches and updates? Been itching for a racing game lately.
It's been working fine for me these past few days - smooth as butter. I think the game's really good myself - weather really takes it to the next level - but you have to have a penchant for track racing to get the most out of it. If you like open world racing games and stuff, well, you're not going to get that here.
