Topic: Moss is charming but throwaway

So I have restarted up my beloved PSVR (the one I put away last year after being so ill on far point).

Ive played Moss for 2 hours and had a bit of fun. It's an okay game but not very challenging, I cant really understand the acclaim tbh. Quill is a great character with his or her animations, very charming. The outstanding spots so far have been looking in the water to see yourself, stroking quill (did I just write that?) and the section with the Deer - I thought it was gonna eat Quill! Otherwise the gameplay is just boring.

What are everyone else's thoughts on Moss?

@themcnoisy Not played it. Watched a fair bit and the charming aesthetic and Quill's animations etc seem to be the biggest draw. Looks fairly standard in terms of gameplay.

For me it would fit alongside Unravel. Beautiful game with a great aesthetic but similarly simplistic gameplay - but, the charm really shines through and makes it quite compelling.

@KALofKRYPTON That pretty much sums it all up. Unlike a lot of my favourite games on PSVR this could be done on the TV (slightly compromised) which is a big no no as far as I'm concerned with VR games.

@get2sammyb I've got that too!

I fancied Moss since reading your review which is why I put it on first. It just didn't hit me in the same way as all the previous VR games I have played. I think the awe is in the atmosphere, the actually gameplay is pretty frustrating even when you know what to do.

Just started this up tonight (my first VR game!) and it's a good time, IMO.

Sure, it hasn't been difficult by any means in the roughly two hours I've played so far, but the mix of environmental puzzles, light combat, and light platforming make for a nicely well rounded gameplay loop. It looks absolutely stunning in VR (I really now understand those who say you really can't "get" it until you've experienced it for yourself), and I'd have to say it really gives off a Nintendo-ish/Zelda-ish quality in terms of vibe/charm.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

I may pick it up when it gets really cheap. Might be a fun used game.

The PSVR is the best VR system on the market today.
