@SoulsBourne128 The last JoJo game didn't do so hot in Japan, selling around 43k units at launch between the PS4 & PS3, whereas Hollow Realization (and all the SAO games at that) consistently did 140k units at launch between all platforms. Bandai probably thought JoJo games aren't worth their time and went with the SAO milking instead

@naruball Just out of curiosity (since I don't follow the Vita all that much), what are some Vita games released recently that did particularly well? I know Compile Heart is a pretty big developer for it, and on top of my head I think their Vita games only sell around 20k copies at launch.

Also, one game released for both 3DS and Vita that did better on the Vita is Zero Time Dilemma (5k vs 3k units iirc, not that different tbh)

@Ralizah Agreed. I didn't really get the fuss about portable gaming until last year, despite having both a 3DS and a Vita. Decided to be a complete tryhard in senior year of high school with schedules going from 7 to 6 at the earliest, sometimes going till 11pm, not even counting homework. Then I made the awful decision to stay up till 2am to beat P5 and SMT4A, and completely f'd up my sleeping pattern the entirety of May.

Would love to see this on the Switch eventually, even if they have to make downgrades. I ain't gonna put in 200 hours like I did for 4U when I'm entering college that's for sure

Re: Poll: Is Persona 5 the Best Persona Game?

triforcehero

In the graphics/gameplay department? Yep. The UI is the best in the entire MegaTen franchise, with all the style that they have going on. Really glad they put some classic MegaTen elements in the game too. I didn't like the generic shadows and the card shuffle hing in the last 2.

In the story department? P2 takes the cake for that. And P3 after. The story was overall pretty nice as I played it, but there aren't as many memorable parts as 2 and 3. One thing I also don't like about 4 and 5 is they put character development for the main cast behind social links/confidants. 2 and 3 did it well by having the playable cast always dealing with their personal issues as part of the main story, and have even more stuff for social links in 3. For 4 and 5 they kind of just have their badass moment in their respective dungeons, and just kind of there afterwards, so if you didn't have the required stats to continue their social link/confidant then uhh sorry, gonna have to drop another 100 hours for a second playthrough.

Overall it's a solid Persona game, just not the best imo. P2 takes that title for me.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Dragon Quest XI Keeps Slime Time Alive

@naruball If they decide to bring the 3DS version over I could see Nintendo offering to publish it while SE takes care of PS4/Switch, since Nintendo already did the publishing for VII and VIII on 3DS. While the PS4/Switch versions will look shiny and all, I can see some retro fans wanting that pixel art style that the 3DS version has to offer

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Dragon Quest XI Keeps Slime Time Alive

The PS4 version is around 8000 yen, and the 3DS version is around 6500 yen. Therefore from the sales the 3DS earned SE roughly 10,224,500,000 yen, while the PS4 earned 9,936,000,000 yen. (woohoo math)

Therefore I would wager when they said "stronger" sales on PS4 they mean higher attach rate, as the PS4 has a an attach rate of 1:5 versus the 3DS's 1:22. Or that digital sales is more on PS4, but knowing Japan it usually doesn't make much of a difference.

Still, kudos to SE for an awesome game. Hopefully the Switch also does as well as these two versions, and that we'll get all 3 when it goes West.
