graphics look amazing but gameplay looks a bit dull, i'm a gameplay guy so will give it a miss but i know a lot of PS4 gamers are big on cinematics so this should still do well.
this game tipped me over the edge to buy a PS4, although I haven't played as much of it as I thought I would, it will take a long time for quality games to release on it. just hoping for some really good 3D platformers!
So if we add the +1 point for Pushsquare routinely harsh scores this is actually a solid 8/10? Glad as I preordered it anyway having loved DKC and Rare.
having great fun with it, don't understand the negativity if you don't want it don't buy it! as someone who never had a ps before 4 this is spot on for me. particularly loving playing all the Sly and Ratchet games i missed out on.
can't see myself picking it up for a while, at least until the released on PS4 and PS5 crossover games stop, looks like a while yet before that happens.
Level creation is so accessible in Mario Maker though compared to Dreams, I love both games but I can see why they both exist and meet different needs for a lot of people.
@JamieO haha is that why you didn't review it? too much potential bias? i'm coming from a perspective of growing up on Nintendo and only getting my first ever Playstation (PS4) a couple of months ago. Bought it for my wife who loved it as kid, not really played the original myself but really liking this one!
@JamieO fair enough but I think it is hard to knock it for a lack innovation when it is a remaster and a very good one at that, captures the spirit of the original and enhances it big time, which is exactly what a remaster should be. Two games in one as well basically with sequels tracks included. Karts handle brilliantly in my opinion as well which was my main worry, a great alternative to Mario Kart.
This looks awesome to me! Defo lots of jet force Gemini vibes. Will wait for a good sale though as got so much to play through and this will be perfect for £10
this game reminds me of the early days of 3d gaming, where developers seemed to have a lot more creative freedom and fun, yes it's a bit clunky as the creators get to grips with this whole new world and we will have to wait for the masterpieces but the creativity is exciting just like it was back then!
Enjoying this a lot so far just playing some of the levels people have created. The fun in this is that it is like a indie developers playground, lots of short game experiences that are fun to play through. Once full games are made it will be amazing. If you are expecting some great 3D level design straight off the bat then you are off your rocker!
@Octane haha yes just a few so far all costing next to nothing! God of War, Wipeout, kingdom hearts the story so far, ni no kuni 2, persona 5, little big planet 3, ratchet and clank, tearaway, digimon story, journey and jak and daxter. Will get DQXI and Spider-Man when price drops a bit as got plenty to get on with. Any recommendation for me? I like Nintendo and Rareware single players style games as you can probably tell from the list! I also have Spyro Trilogy on Xbone.
The reason I bought a PS4 recently is this game! Tipped me over the edge and never had any PS before. This could be essentially unlimited gaming for the price of one game if the creations are anything like the media is suggesting they will be.

85% metacritic probably more relevant as seems like this review score marked down for using same tracks (which is the whole point of a remaster).

I don't get this whole 'It's difficult' as a con.
