Re: Astro Bot Raises the Bar for Sony's PS Studios Intros on PS5

moonswings20

I'm not being funny...

I'm all for a fun little romp but is this really worthy of an article? Like... Someone please explain.

Is the rest of the news that dry at the moment that we're getting hyped about what is essentially a Pixar lamp animation (I don't know what these are called but this is literally what we are doing here, lads. It's embarrassing)

Re: PSVR2's Anticipated PC Adaptor Appears Imminent

moonswings20

Hopefully this news dispells some of the awful fake stuff people were attempting to spread on twitter.

I dont know how many times I saw people trying to say this was Steam hitting PlayStation or some nonsense.

This was hinted at a while ago by some guy who worked on windows talking about drivers being worked on for VR2.

Its still not as competitive as a viable PC option as some others, but this will definitely have a good amount of purchases due to the build quality and the fact that the Valve Index is just... Ridiculously overpriced.

Re: Ubisoft Free-to-Play Shooter XDefiant Is Actually Off to a Strong Start

moonswings20

It's been weird for me. Was really enjoying it. But the net code is very iffy and the hit registers just seem a little bit off. Now for some reason after I finish one game I can't get back to the lobby and have to close the game down.

Pretty fun gameplay wise though. Movement is quite nice, guns all feel different (though there are some issues with certain weapons having literally zero recoil) and I prefer objective based shooters over simple kill kill durr durr ones. Just wish half the player base knew that to win you do actually have to play the objective 😂

Re: Ghost of Tsushima on PC Attracts 57K Player Peak on Launch Day

moonswings20

@MrBook I know I shouldn't, but it riles them up and it's a little bit funny to watch the inevitable meltdown when they can't think of why they made their point.

Its a problem with a lot of the comments I see on here. A lot of the users tend to edge into the more extreme category of ignorant and hateful.

You'd think this being a forum would mean that there'd be a level of understanding and genuine discussion. But unfortunately it's not. And this sometimes even comes through in the articles as well. You'd assume that people would actually have some clue as to gaming as an industry and have some inkling of understanding of other platforms and whatnot.

Turns out... No not really. It's just the people off the old 4chan threads 😂

Re: Ghost of Tsushima on PC Attracts 57K Player Peak on Launch Day

@GamingFan4Lyf I'm glad someone else understands this. I moved away from PC gaming so maybe it helps that I can see it through that lens as well as being someone who owned and still owns consoles throughout almost all of my life.

I think players from different avenues tend to only hear the worst about other players and then subsequently marginalises them to very specific extremes and it all becomes a mess of embellishment and exaggeration.

PC players, by and large, will gladly support games they enjoy. This was evident with Helldivers. And is evident in the plethora of other games that have thrived on PC that weren't available elsewhere that are still being upkept to this day. Last Epoch springs to mind.

They want innovation. And they will pay for it. They want fun. And they will pay for it. But they will also make their voices known if shady practices and underhanded acts from publishers trying to earn their money start appearing.

Again, they did this with Helldivers. And whilst many will still buy GoT, there will be a very small subsection of players who will pirate it because they want Sony to know that if they want to earn their money, they have to be respected first.

Sony are too used to cutting corners and forcing people's hands because that is literally the only option you have on a given console. Microsoft have done the exact same thing. It's not specific just to one user base.

But generalising the PC space as all pirates is disingenuous because they have time and time again shown they will support the hell out of devs who made something worthwhile and earned their money.

Re: Ghost of Tsushima on PC Attracts 57K Player Peak on Launch Day

@Damage99 this is just a weird comment. Nobody on PC is avoiding the game for having online. Primarily because online games thrive on PC and they don't pay to play online. I have no idea where you've pulled that supposed argument from because its not in line with PC trends in any way, shape or form.

People ARE avoiding it however, because of the practices of the publisher. Oh and... You know...not making it available in well over 150+ countries. So in that sense... It's not so much as "avoiding it" as much as it IS "literally not having access to it".

I don't know why you commented this or what research you did prior... But I would honestly urge you to try and do that next time. May save you the hassle of looking a little iffy in public.

Re: PS5, PC Live Service Concord Will Launch in 2024

moonswings20

I don't have high hopes for this whatsoever but would like to be proven wrong. Not so long ago though, people hated extraction shooters. Then I see someone on here saying PvE is boring but no doubt ate up Helldivers at launch so... Narrative changes again.

Let's see if Firewalk make good on it. Main worry stems from seeing absolutely no gameplay, only a vague and pointless CGI trailer and yet it's scheduled to release this year. That's not a good start by any metric.

Re: Poll: Years Later, How Do You Feel About PlayStation's PC Strategy?

moonswings20

Well this is going to be a fair, measured and not tribalistic comments section....

In all seriousness, with the current state of the market and the constant state of fear a lot of devs must feel - even with the backing of multimillion dollar publishers - it's important to have your games available. Whether it's an exclusive for console that is also on PC. Or if you just place it everywhere. The landscape of outright exclusives is changing. That's not to say exclusives aren't important because they are. But right now, financially, they aren't the most viable option. If it wasn't for what feels like the precipice of a market crash maybe we could be having a different conversation right now. And even with record high profits for certain publishers, we know that no developer is safe. Because once it's about profits... It becomes a case of "how do we lower operational costs?"

And at that point anyone could be considered collateral if they don't rake in absurdly high numbers based off projections made by people that don't understand the market they're attempting to evaluate.

Right now, I think PC is a good place for Playstation games to be. And those who think otherwise are either being too tribalistic or aren't considering what many developers need right now to stay in business.

Re: Founders, Long-Time Employees Reportedly Say Xbox Now Effectively Microsoft Gaming

moonswings20

Something I've noticed recently just from checking this site is that these Xbox posts by far have way more engagement from the PS players than literally any other form of article.

Even as a PS player...i honestly do question the intention of a lot of you flocking straight to this and not reading anything about new games, smaller studios, other things...

But Xbox? Let me get in on that. Like... Huh..

Re: 'Negative Sentiment' Prompts Helldivers 2 Dev to Put Releasing Polar Patriots to a Vote

moonswings20

Very classy to leave the decision in the hands of the community. Shows a good level of understanding on the devs part with public perception.

If only their publisher had a bit more decorum and thought more about how they were seen amongst all this.

That said though, fair play on attempting to amend things with the players. It's a good start being this open. Communication is the difference. Openness and the willingness to receive feedback. Props to Arrowhead.

Re: Helldivers Turn on Arrowhead Following Undemocratic Firing of Community Manager

moonswings20

Honestly I don't think I can faithfully side with anyone in this argument.

Was Spitz unprofessional to a degree that warranted not being associated with Arrowhead? Yes. But id like to believe he had the goodwill of at least a large part of the community at heart. I've made decisions at work that weren't the best for my company in terms of what they would like but ultimately kept client retention where it needed to be because the system itself was broken in places. I think that's at least partially the case with the avenues we are provided to give meaningful feedback to those with the power to make a difference in games. Sony were not listening whatsoever and that was clear until it became something even Arrowhead began to push back.

I think anyone blindly saying Sony needs to ignore the PC players are also wrong, despite having a fair-ish case. Can PC players be spoiled brats? Yes. But they also made the difference in an issue, that whilst on the surface seemed small to console players, was a lot bigger for the wider community who WERE actually affected by it.

In situations like this we often resort back to blind tribalism or we bend the knee. We shouldn't do either of those things. We should push back. In the right ways though, and understand the problems of those that we may not necessarily have ourselves.

The fact this is as big as it is, is in part thanks to Spitz and the PC community who made their voices loud. Do I agree with the way it was handled generally? No. But someone did need to speak out. And they did.

Take a step back, all. Stop casting blame and villainising. Maybe put your eyes towards why these things happened and question where the source of the problems lie. It boils down to one simple thing - WE ALL NEED a better way to communicate with the people in power. And if they don't take those qualms seriously they don't deserve our time. It's unfair on the devs in either scenario. And had we not allowed this dismissive behaviour to fester, we wouldn't be here. It starts from the top.

Whether you like it or not, with Helldivers, you are all a community. Act like it.

Re: Xbox Pondering PS5 Port of Ninja Theory's Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2

moonswings20

Likely will. Can't see a positive outcome sales wise for the exclusives MS are offering at this point due to backlash, which does inherently feed into the problem.

It begs the question though. If Xbox were concerned about the pitches made by Tango and Arkane Austin regarding resources and proposed length of development in relation to possible returns.... What's stopping Ninja Theory from being in the same boat here? Large game (relative to the others at least), high development cost and a VERY long dev time. If it doesn't make the money... Are they going to fare the same fate even with the game releasing on other platforms? Are they going to take the hit? And if so, how does that affect morale for those burned from the closures?

Xbox have zero clue what they're doing and they're on the verge of having similar optics in the eyes of the people and even within their own company as Embracer.

Re: Tango Gameworks, Arkane Austin, More Closed in Brutal Bethesda Restructure

moonswings20

@Danloaded yeah exactly. Like... Why would I want credit to put back into your company when you've proved you don't care about the studios that ensure you bring it in to begin with. If they hadn't focused on pointless acquisitions they couldn't manage it'd be different. Maybe.

And yeah, Limited Run announced they would be doing a HiFi Rush physical a few months back. Though, to date, nothing else has come out about this. It's not on the Coming Soon tab. If it's dead in the water now then I honestly hope whoever greenlit the decision to close these studios chokes on their water next board meeting.

Re: Tango Gameworks, Arkane Austin, More Closed in Brutal Bethesda Restructure

moonswings20

@Danloaded yeah I just saw that tweet that went up. Doesn't make it much better imo. Give us refunds on the damn game at that point. Yes, that's harsh as hell and I will admit I'm being petty. But companies that do this need harsh punishments.

I'll likely go for the credit regardless, but I have zero faith in MS to make it a pain free experience as they seem to love torturing the people that invest in them.

If the physical edition of HiFi Rush gets affected (I know it's through LRG but you never know honestly) I'm gonna be fuming even more.

Re: Tango Gameworks, Arkane Austin, More Closed in Brutal Bethesda Restructure

moonswings20

As awful as Redfall is, the DLC not being delivered on is something I sincerely hope MS get scolded to hell and back for. Not only that, but these people made Prey. Had they been managed better and not forced to make some live service garbage, they could've seriously had a second hit. Then Tango.... Like jesus. MS just don't want to succeed it seems. And you know what? I don't think anyone who really plays games will care if they go. My sincerest apologies to the devs affected. They deserved better. Screw these stupid owners.
