Re: Reaction: The PS5 Discourse Around State of Plays Is Becoming Draining

justemu

I thought it was okay. A few games looked cool and that’s enough for me. But ironically the biggest defenders of current Sony and this SOP come off as the biggest crybabies rather than the critics. Every critic I see is pretty much “yeah mid lol, where was x game?”.

Everyone else who says they loved it can’t help but be passive aggressive towards anyone who would hypothetically think differently. All these comments including this article just comes off as insecure like you all can’t enjoy it truly because you NEED everyone else to agree. Who cares? If you like it go like it and voice your enjoyment and move on. Complaining that people don’t share the same perspective is just brat behavior.

Re: Naughty Dog Turns Off Intergalactic PS5 Trailer's Comments As Discourse Turns Nasty

justemu

1: As others have stated this article is misleading. The comments were disabled right when the trailer was uploaded, and comments on other channels aren’t these psycho hateful dens that others are trying to say they are. Most were concord and bald jokes. Is that “nice”? No, but it’s not hateful or harassment either. People can give criticism whether it’s professional or crude and to say otherwise is toxic positivity which does exist.

2: People need to understand that making things beautiful or appealing is a basic intuitive rule of visual arts that’s only being subverted recently. Does that mean Jordan has to be a bombshell model with her sexual parts hanging out that inspires lust? No. But devs going out of their way to beat a character with the ugly stick is gonna rub people the wrong way on an instinctive level and that doesn’t make them bad or sexist either.

3: For me personally the character design alone isn’t a dealbreaker. However I and many others think that it’s a red flag of a broader design philosophy that many of us detest that doesn’t start nor end with how the character looks. A character that seems to made intentionally and spitefully ugly both in design and performance (her looking at the planet from the chair, literally looks like she’s drugged out or has a mental disability) also implies a spiteful narrative in the name of transgressive values, and gameplay/mechanics that appeal to their core progressive audience, which is to say dumbed down with no depth out of fear of being labeled “gatekeeping”.

Having said that, I will still buy the game because who knows maybe I’m wrong and I hope I am xD

Re: Poll: Would You Buy PS5 Pro If It Was Cheaper?

justemu

I would say tempted only because we still don’t know how games like dragons dogma or ff7 will benefit. Can those games achieve 60fps through brute force or are we essentially just getting a slightly sharper background image in performance mode?

600 is what I would pay for it and if they just swapped the 2tb ssd (totally unnecessary) with a 1TB ssd I think that would be achievable.

Re: Despite Price Point, Analyst Firm Expects PS5 Pro to Sell Like PS4 Pro

justemu

I don’t think it’s going to flop, but I can’t see this selling like the ps4 pro either. Yes this is for enthusiasts, the same enthusiasts who comment on this site, follow PlayStation channels and news sites, browse the ps5 subreddit etc. and all of these communities hate this console so what does that say? Or are we going to pretend that everyone here are casuals?

Re: Talking Point: Can PS5, PC Shooter Concord Be Saved?

justemu

As someone who does like the game it does sadden me that it’s failing and I agree with everything in this article. Realistically I don’t think it can be saved but crazier things have happened. In my opinion there’s a couple of things they can do.

  • Change up the marketing. Emphasize that this isn’t a live service game that you have to treat as a 2nd job and how the game won’t nickel and dime you. It’s an old school multiplayer game you buy once and enjoy. Be adversarial about it too even when it comes to their competitors and draw eyes. They can even poke fun at themselves about this horrific launch. It would be unorthodox but it could gain attention and curiosity for sure.
  • New characters going forward NEED to be cool and attractive looking. And even bizarre. Add new cosmetics that’ll do the same for existing characters.
  • New game modes similar to Fortnite that makes the whole thing feel like an amusement park and community, with potential for big collabs

I don’t think F2P can fix it. Many failed live service games have tried and it only delayed the inevitable, and if that’s the case for concord, you might as well try to offer and capitalize off a model that your players already like which many hero shooters don’t have.

Re: Poll: Years Later, How Do You Feel About PlayStation's PC Strategy?

justemu

Their PC strategy as it stands now is fine I think. But it’s clear that day and date is inevitable, probably gonna start happening when the ps6 launches. And when that happens the console will objectively be devalued and I think a lot of people including myself will switch to PC.

And I don’t say that as some angry entitled console warrior, just out of practicality. Why own a console when I can spend a little extra on PC and get the same great games with much better performance, NO PS PLUS, and access to a bunch of other games not available on PS including older gen classics that makes ps plus premium even more pitiful.

I would feel a bit sad if that happened. I do care about the console, but Sony and console gamers can’t have it both ways. If the console is a priority and you want it to thrive, exclusivity even if timed does matter. If you think exclusivity is a bad thing or you want Sony to make more money in the publishing arena, that’s fine, but don’t expect ps consoles to flourish like we’re accustomed to. Sony has to pick one.

Re: Sony Establishes PlayStation PC Label to Spearhead Porting Push

justemu

@IonMagi That's what bugs me the most. It's not about being mad that others get to enjoy these games like others here try to frame it. It's that Sony wants to charge me $70 for cross gen games and then will charge me $70 for a "director's cut" of a ps4 game, and if I already own it then it will just be a $10 tax . PC players are getting a way better deal, cheaper games with better and reworked features. If Sony wants to go in on PC, at least do it the Xbox way where all things are equal and it's just a matter of what machine you want to play the games on. I'd be much more chill with that. Right now though I feel like I'm getting the short end of the stick, with Jim Ryan seeing console owners as nothing but paypigs.

Re: Rumour: Sackboy: A Big Adventure Is Making the Jump to PC

justemu

Yeah I think the PS5 is going to be my last console (except maybe nintendo). If it weren't for the nickel and dimeing Sony has been doing I'd be more satisfied considering the price for performance of console but I just don't like the direction they're going. It's disappointing.

Re: PS4 Exclusive God of War Releasing on PC in January

justemu

I didn't care with Horizon and Days Gone, but with this, Uncharted, the Geforce Now leaks, and the Jim Ryan interview it clearly seems less like "Sony wants to give PC players a taste of what PS5/4 has to offer" and more like the Xbox model being the endgame or something similar. I'm sad that will be the case since I liked and grew up with the traditional model of making unique exclusives to sell unique hardware and I feel the consoles will have less value. What really irritates me though is if that's the case, I can't believe Sony is going to charge me $70 for their new games when PC will get them for like $50 in 2 years (at the latest) with better performance and features(DLSS, Ultrawidescreen). That's gonna cause me to sell my PS5 and go PC if anything.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want to Know About PS5?

justemu

1. Is there a quick resume function like the Xbox has shown off?
2. Can the picture in picture function be used with media apps like Netflix and Youtube? In other words can I watch Youtube in the corner of my TV screen while playing a game at the same time?
3. Can PS4 headphones, wired or wireless, work with PS5?

Re: The Last of Us 2 Petition Demands Dramatic Story Alterations

justemu

This is pretty cringe. While I do have issues with the story myself regarding its super bleak tone/events and don't consider it by any means a 10/10, it's pretty entitled and petty to DEMAND a complete retcon until they get the safe predictable story they want. What's done is done, ND didn't betray anyone. They just wanted to make a unique dark game like the first one. If you don't like it, cool. Just consider it non canon and play the first game. It's all fiction anyway. I hated the sequel trilogy of Star Wars for example but I wouldn't demand that they remake it and get rid of the other films. I just keep them out of sight and out of mind and focus on something I actually enjoy rather than hate.
