@Kidfried I would be inclined to agree. I don't think this is anything to be concerned about or for critics of the game to celebrate. Without knowing digital sales, which is how I and most of the people I know purchased the game or global numbers, I think it's a little early for any real determination of success. It did debut at number one and will only improve over time I think. For what it's worth, I have really been enjoying it and plenty of others too. Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics deserve a lot of well-deserved praise!
@Olmaz I think that it can be both things. Just because it has been labeled as a games for service doesn't mean it can't have an amazing single player campaign. I am enjoying the story so far and feel like I am getting my money's worth. My trust in the Marvel brand, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics has been well-placed. The fact that there is a free upgrade to PS5, as well as more free characters, story and missions to come is something that I am happy to support. I have never really enjoyed any game as service before and rarely preorder. Well worth the purchase in my opinion, but really love this game so far!!
@wiiware Me too. I didn't play RE7 because it was more horror than action-horror like the other games that I have enjoyed. But, I love the franchise and can't wait to see what they've done with RE8!
@nessisonett I already had preordered the game, but with the addition of Kate Bishop and a lot of other cool characters on the way, I am feeling better all the time about that decision!
While I certainly have Avengers as probably my most anticipated game of the the year, it's been a very good year for gaming and thankfully, it's not over yet. Cyberpunk 2077 and Miles Morales are quite high on my list. All of the big games I have purchased lately have lived up to the hype and I think these will too.
I got the beta, but ended up not playing it to be honest as I decided to go into the game spoiler free and with a fresh perspective. But, I did my research and decided to pre order the game. So far, I am loving it and hope this game will be successful so it can be supported for years to come.
@GeneJacket I agree. This hasn't changed my mind on the game. People shouldn't expect the developers to put in a lot of extra work creating new characters and then not get paid. But, the characters themselves are free - it's just some of the customizable options that might cost you. If you don't like them, don't pay for them. But to claim that they should continue to give you free content forever because you paid for the base game is a very entitled view and is actually toxic to the industry.
