With the Gamepass announcement, non-backers exclusive preorder items, and now shipping costs, it feels like the people who made this happen are getting the short straws. It's not unfair for backers to feel entitled in this case.
Overseas fans of Hololive Production know that international shipping logistics and costs can be a nightmare so this isn't a shock for me, but R&B Studio is clearly inexperienced at handling this or their shipping partners are taking liberties at the expense of the customers.
My only hope is when do announce it, it won't be 2 whole years of wait like last time! Crossing my fingers they've started working on the project already and only waiting for the right timing to announce it.
I vehemently believe Trails of Cold Steel is the best entry point to this massive series. There are good reasons why:
1. The game feels more modern in full 3D with camera control, rather then fixed camera sprites
2. The story is completely standalone, makes almost no reference to any preceding Trails game; Trails from Zero may be its own arc but the Bright family story arc continues here and it wouldn't bring a greater sentimental value if this is your entry game
3. Most of it is grounded to realityβif this is your first foray into the series, the supernatural part feels like a mystique and not taken as something for granted
4. Trails to Azure spoils major events and shocking twists happening in Cold Steel, taking the winds out of its sail
tl;dr: Finish Cold Steel first, but then hold off from playing Cold Steel II, tempting as it is. Go back from Sky FC and then play the series chronologically.
If this is a Japanese event, then I wouldn't expect a major localization. What teased me is NISAmerica Twitter account retweeted the NGPX post with πππππ¦π¦π¦π¦π¦ emojis, so maybe it warrants an expectation. Whatever the announcements are, Nihon Falcom jdk produced some of the best tracks in video game so seeing the band perform live virtually will be a huge treat.
It's great that they resolved the issue, but there's still problem with the DLCs. At least 3 items that are meant to be free for everyone are locked behind digital version only.

Re: The Next, Next, Next Trails Game Gets a September Release Date in Japan as the West Continues to Wait
I don't mind the wait as long the games eventually comes. After Reverie, all I ask is a decent localization and that it comes bug-free on release.
