Re: Silent Hill 2's Overdue PS5 Pro Fixes Now in Konami's Hands

Vince_Virtua

When discussing about PS5 Pro issues in a game like Silent Hill 2 I think it’s important to be specific. It was patched within weeks when the original PSSR issues were talked about by places like Digital Foundry. The performance mode removed PSSR meaning there has been parity with the base console essentially since at least Christmas 2024. Except given the horsepower boost on Pro, the fps will be more consistent.

The quality mode has ‘never’ been addressed. It still features PSSR along with all the visual issues flagged on launch. The point here though is most people will play this in the other mode, so most people will have a fine experience.

Re: Talking Point: Is It Officially Game Over for PSVR2?

I picked up a PSVR2 on launch and have been impressed with all the experiences leading up to The Midnight Walk and Undead Citadel in recent weeks.

My issue is not with the headset or its ‘support’ but that people in general don’t seem to like VR that much in general. It’s a VR problem and reads like most people would prefer that it were not a product that existed in the Playstation lineup, which I find odd. It's like, if it’s not for you then it’s not for you. You don’t need to have an opinion of it, it’s fine! It’s a niche tech, but for those of us who have engaged with it and its growing library to a legitimate extent it’s amazing! Odd dodgy port aside the machine has had improved versions of Quest games from Max Mustard through Zombieland and then we got best in class versions of No Man’s Sky, Hitman World of Assassination, RE Village, RE4 Remake, paid for by Sony I would add, etc.

People want the headset to just fail. People who don’t then complain about lack of support whilst ignoring what we do have and are getting. Sure I think the headset’s in a lose-lose situation but it’s not down to “lack of support”. It’s VR apathy combined with supposed VR fans ready to complain about what they don’t have yet but ignore what they do.

Re: Sony Is Allegedly Pulling PSVR2 Funding, Report Claims

Thanks for citing the "anonymous sources". Honestly, there's been little support for the headset from media let alone here since launch. I've enjoyed the headset, don't play with it exclusively, but recognise it for the excellent tech it is. VR just isn't for everybody, and even Quest is barely "mainstream". I think the issue is people generally choosing to focus on what they don't have/can't have as opposed what is on the headset/what is coming to the headset.

If I were buying the headset on the basis of purely PlayStation Studios support I'd be more disappointed. Sony are barely announcing their plans for PS5 let alone their more niche accessory product. Frankly I have the headset for a growing VR library of which I've invested in a lot.

There's some fantastic best-in-platform experiences like No Man's Sky, GT7, RE4, Madison, RE Village, Song in the Smoke. THIS is what no one seems to want to focus on. Instead posting up hit pieces from anonymous sources. Another day, another chance to crap on hardware people love. Why bother? Support all VR platforms equally else the market as a whole only suffers with less competition.

@Triumph741 ok, in your opinion. Mura is obviously undesirable, but has not affected my personal enjoyment of any game, and most games I don't think or notice it, ever. There is going to be something to give if you have superior contrast and colours of an OLED display. Fresnel lenses work with OLED because it doesn't emit enough light to work at low persistence for pancake lenses.

"With a pc you can do EVERYTHING in VR. No need to elaborate further." That's great! I own a PS5 and VR2 headset to GAME and convenience of plug and go.
I don't want a productivity or app tool, thank you. I don't want to mess with drivers and set-up. Different hardware for different use cases. One is not a 'better' solution than the other because of EVERYTHING. No further elaboration needed I feel ...

@SgtTruth it is just untrue though, and bad faith. There 'are' patently many great games already out that suit any type of gamer. Of the ones that are ports, they are now as good or better than PCVR inc No Man's Sky, Star Wars, Red Matter, Saints & Sinners, etc. See my earlier post for some of the best one's. Obviously those coming to VR for the first time benefit the most, such as myself, but saying the library is lacking, and given we're only 8 months in is disingenuous at best. October as it happens is arguably the strongest month to date for PSVR2 releases. Those in the know just know.

Oh for heaven's sake, I know it's a headline maker but anyone who actually does own a PSVR2 and hasn't actually had their head buried in sand knows the library is not lacking. We're 8 months in and these are some of the best titles people can try:

1. Resident Evil 8
2. Gran Turismo 7
3. Saints and Sinners 2: Retribution
4. Walkabout Mini Golf
5. Demeo
6. Pistol Whip
7. Propagation: Paradise Hotel
8. Synapse
9. Red Matter 1 and 2
10. Moss 1 and 2
11. Pavlov
12. Horizon Call of the Mountain
