Re: Reaction: Practicality and Power Paves Positive Start for PS4

Valky

It looks like I will need double investment, PS3 + PS4. Hopefully the former will receive a final price cut announced during the next E3. It's a pity for all those games to be blocked forever in the PS3 for the time being. And so I hope Sony will give me some incentives to go get one while it's still hot.

Re: Guerrilla: PS4 Development Isn't As Expensive As You Think

Valky

The games, starting from the most recent, critically acclaimed, finish to some older but still amazing title, are not exactly a cheap way of entertainment, unless some big discount. That's why used games have an importance, the rest is really about how much I can invest on a game I know it was made with excellent quality.
Problem is, PlayStation has LOTS of them, so it's always hard to choose which one to pick and buy.

Re: Feature: Here's Every PlayStation 4 Game We Know About

Valky

Sadly I can only vote once, so I mention here all the exclusives that are on my radar (Killzone, inFamous, Knack and Drive Club).

Among 3rd parties, I'm struggling between Deep Down and Watch_Dogs, in the end I choose the latter but just becase it's already around from quite some time, giving it advantage.

Re: Sony Officially Reveals the PlayStation 4, Launching Holiday 2013

Valky

New Killzone and Infamous are both really impressive (although my streaming quality made them look like utter crap), the cherry on the cake would be Watch Dogs or that new Capcom IP for some really strong starting titles. I have to say I don't fancy car games, they kind of bore me fast, but I'm still looking forward to this AutoClub thing.

Yes, as far as I've seen from tonight, there is pretty of material for a strong launch, of course it will be hard at start to be better than an already good PS3, for titles aspect (given that I do not have a PS3 atm).

Re: Live: Watch The PlayStation 2013 Meeting Right Here

Valky

@Snorky

I'm totally with you, I would have hated if they have reworked it from scratch. Love those new shapes of the analogues, now it should be more comfortable with FPS, the triggers seems ok now. I still don't get the touchpad thing, and I still need more time to understand the real purpouse of this coloured sensor bar attached.

Re: Live: Watch The PlayStation 2013 Meeting Right Here

Valky

@Squiggle55

Well, the thing about Gaikai...I always like to say it's something that is still starting...it is something that will enhance itself if given the right amount of time. It can do wonders, but that is still theoretical untill we will get our hands on it.

Right now I'm happy they confirmed those rumors about Gaikai being the next way to let you play older games.

Re: Live: Watch The PlayStation 2013 Meeting Right Here

Valky

Overall a great conference, almost all the hopes I had came true, starting from the specs ending to the enhanced support to the Vita, now being able to directly use a dedicated part of the PS4 engine to stream what we're playing. I enjoyed it throughly, they really learned a lesson or two from previous conferences.

And what is better than announcing new stuff even before E3? I don't know about you but I like those new IPs, especially the Capcom one.

Really, I can't thing about anything that went bad, and for such a long conference it's amazing. Only annoying stuff the streaming, sometimes it went off, or just keep going with no audio. I had to manually refresh the whole page two or three times, frustrating.

Re: Sony: PlayStation Vita's Going on the Offensive in 2013

Valky

@Sanquine
That's true, but this time around they have those proprietary memory cards, so while they can lower the price of the VITA (and I was expecting this), they can still earn a nice profit for every single memory card sold, even at the cost of being silly to their homeland people, who are still preferring a rather old system where you can use any 3rd party memory card.
VITA games are great, they will become even more, the handheld itself is state of art, but this comes at the cost that every game eats up the memory space, not mentioning additional downloads such as the apps or videos.
So it is not something based on the software alone.

Hopefully, those memory cards will become cheaper to produce and more capable, but I believe Sony will never allow 3rd parties.

Re: Rumour: PlayStation 4 Will Launch in November for $429

Valky

I think so too, announcing the price straight tomorrow is probably going to kill all the good mood, unless it is really that cheap as said in an older news, but then again, the price itself is usually one of the last things revealed, and it's still too early for it.
Thing is, we could get a realistic idea on how much the final price will be tomorrow.

Re: Review: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PlayStation 3)

Valky

Anthony Severino form PSLS has given 3 out of 10.
Here's the pros and cons:

Pros:
Zandatsu is cool and satisfying.
There are a few awesome action sequences.
The misery, I mean game, ends in five hours (lol)

Cons:
Where do I begin?
Awful parry system
Constantly obstructed camera and narrow rooms blocking view.
Enemies are overly difficult, and circle out of vision.
Bosses cannot be hit at times, adding to the ample frustration.
Bosses, grunts, even supporting characters are bland and forgettable.
Stealth and exploration are only partially done, and useless.
Story? What story? Oh, that mess.
VR Missions aren't worth playing. Offer no training opportunity.
Upgrades have little effect.
Did I mention how bad the parry and camera system are?
This game should have remained cancelled.

I'm amused beyond any normal thinking, so much that I'm actually laughing like I've read the most funny rant ever made on the Internet. This feels like a total attack to a game which yeah, it surely has its flaws, but it's like comparing it to a wast majority of total mess we get every now and then, easily forgotten.

I believe I won't return in that site ever again after this (plus the community really sucks).

Re: Sony's 20th February Countdown Continues with PS3

Valky

@Zenith Same for me, I mean I currently don't have a PS3, I had it for a month or so then I had to give it away since I'm studying for my degree, and I was hoping to fill the gap with the PSVita. I ended up jumping out of the train as soon as I understood UMDs were no longer supported. I'm still very disappointed but anyway, maybe it was for the good and I'm still wanting a PS3, it's bound to receive sweet offers from now on and lots of fresh end gen games are coming.
The Xbox is far behind the Playstation level, with only a few titles of some interest, the rest is pretty much lame.
I am sure another long year will pass before PS4 will arrive, and even more to it starting off with a good selection of games, so it is better to wait while playing what remains of this gen, plus pretending to get a fully functional backward compatibility while there is still market for the PS3 is just wrong imho.

Re: Talking Point: How Will the PS4's Controller Change the Way That We Play?

Valky

@rjejr If you look closely, the touchpad looks darker, I see some kind of reflection and the whole thing seems to take evident space with rough lines in the front and upper sides. The kind of edges I espect putting together one kind of material with another, in that case, plastic and display.
I wouldn't be surprised if that prototype is one or two years old, being nothing else but a very rough idea of the finished product.

It is true that a touchpad in the front would be difficult to reach without the need to move your hand a bit. I think the touchpad of the Vita is a good example on how to place a touchpad in a controller, that's because you don't need a constant visual contact with it.

Re: Talking Point: Why Gaikai Is Paramount to PlayStation's Future

Valky

Maybe, for now, the streaming thing could simply works in such a way it will seemingly transfer data in your HDD, allowing you to play once 1/4 of it is stored, with the feature to save what you have already got, and resume if you connection drops or you turn off the console (by that I mean plugging it off completely).
Of course you need to subscribe and create an account.
This could work even if you can't get a decent connection, I watch satellite TV shows this way, and believe me I have a very bad connection, all you need is to plan it so you know you can play the next day.
I go over and say this might be how we will get the backward compatibility.

Cloud gaming in itself is, simply put, still to be throughly tested, and a fiber connection needs to become a common thing before we will see anything worthy.

Re: Talking Point: How Important Are Motion Controls to the PS4?

Valky

So far I have tried the Kinect from a friend, in short, it's absolutely the most useless thing I have ever tried. It left me quite a bad feeling about those kind of devices. Still, I see what Nintendo did with their Wiimotes, and I understand those things can play a nice role, but I wouldn't say just "for casuals". Sony definitively needs to support motion devices more, (and by that I mean something not aimed for childrens like "Wonderbook"), there is space for improvement and their decision to bring motion devices straight with the PS4 could be a good thing.

As a core gamer I want to be surronded with devices for my core gaming needs, only then I can witness the success.
