I was on the fence for a long time but I just bought 13 Sentinels this morning.
Vanillaware is one of my favourite Devs, but I felt the combat looked kind of dull in footage I'd seen. Decided to go for it as the critical reception has been very good.

If they weren't maintaining the art style, what was even the point of remaking it. XIII is basically known for that art style.
