All this time and money spent on a game nobody really needed and they could have instead spent a fraction of the money making a new Legacy of Kain game instead.
@Carck what has the last 4 years brought though? Fan-led remakes that have nothing to do with the original developers, Atlus who are outside Sammy’s conservative business culture and the western launch of an 8-year-old MMORPG that lacks the simplicity of its forebear.
Look at the franchises section of Sega’s website: all aquisitions and nothing internally developed bar Yakuza which itself was an offshoot of Shenmue.
It’s not been all bad. Sega’s relationship with indie devs is fantastic and they’ve done a great job of updating some of their most beloved franchises. Their merchandise operation is fantastic.
But you can put your fingers in to ears as much as you want because bar Yakuza the last truly great internally-developed Sega game that really stood out was the original Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3 in 2008.
@Carck Sega have had a few successes with stalwarts like Total War and Football manager, Atlus and Yakuza but all the best ‘Sega’ games of recent years (Sonic Mania, Wonderboy, Streets of Rage 4, the forthcoming Alex Kidd) have been made by external teams of fans.
Sammy just aren’t interested in pushing Sega as far as they can. They’ve been limping along for the last 2 decades and it’s a massive shame because Sega helped build the games industry. They showed that Nintendo were not invincible and they created over the years some of the greatest video games ever developed. They were a big part of my childhood and many others.
@TheFrenchiestFry Sony won’t buy Sega after Shenmue 3 didn’t turn out to be the investment they hoped. Sega at this point are really only worth it for their back catalog. Their management of their own franchises has been abysmal.
On one hand games price rises have been coming for a while. I paid £50 for Perfect Dark and Majoras Mask on N64 in 2000. PS2 games were all £40 each. That was 20 years ago. This is why we have DLC and IAP: devs need to recoup the costs of development.
On the other a £70 cover price is very off-putting. £50 for the game plus £20 for DLC is a little easier to swallow.

Re: PS Store Is Integrated into PS5, Means Instantaneous Access
I’m being sarcastic but it’s nice for Sony to finally add my favourite feature from the Xbox 360.

Re: Sony Launching New PS Store on Web and Mobile This Month
For the 2-3 Vita owners who haven’t succumbed to just downloading roms this must be a shock.
