Re: Hogwarts Legacy's PS5 Platinum Is a Pain in the Ass

@naruball “ Hogwarts Legacy, the open world Harry Potter game from Avalanche, throws out all recent learning for one of the most irritating Platinums from a major mainstream game in quite some time”

Sorry but that’s just not true. I can name a bunch of mainstream games from last few years that are harder / more frustrating than this

@Ambassador_Kong mate go look at the reviews for GoW and tell me that every critic isn’t praising the writing just like Tlou 2 . You’re pretty much proving my point in your first sentence. Especially because almost every time the last of us 2 is mentioned someone (usually a random commenter) talks about how “laughable” or “dreadful” the story is. There are very few people that pick apart every “coincidence” or plot hole in gow or ragnarok even though (In my opinion) they are very average in terms of their writing and story telling

And sorry but the fact that you’re saying that TLoU 2 has an issue because it’s trying to “humanize a psychopath” makes it sound like you didn’t play the final chapter of Tlou 1

@LN78 I get what you’re saying I’m just not explaining well. If you remember from part 1 the moment they kill Robert Marlene shows up. And there just also happens to be a war between Fedra and fireflies. All these events together are what means Marlene needs Joel to smuggle Ellie for her. Take any one of these one things away and the following events wouldn’t happen. Same as how they all end up at the lodge in part 2 imo. You can think it’s bad writing all you want but it’s just your opinion. I just find it funny that I constantly see people try to dismantle the story in part 2 but you never hear it about part 1. I thought gow ragnarok was really bad writing but people don’t go on and on about it, complaining, picking apart plot holes and coincidences even though it doesn’t come close to the level of writing in Tlou part 2. I find that really strange

@LN78 I respect your opinion and to some extent agree but also you could say that about pretty much any piece of fiction including part 1 ?? If Robert hadn’t sold Joel and Tess’s guns to the fireflies would any of the proceeding events take place??

Also the reason they leave Ellie and Joel alive does NOT come down to “they screwed up because they are dumb“. Abby and co have a long argument about wether to kill them or not but you don’t hear that dialogue until you play as Abby later in the game

@LN78 I think you’re reading too much into it tbh. You could say that about how Joel happens to walk in the right direction to find Ellie in the David/Hunters section of Tlou 1 or the fact that Henry Happens to find Ellie and Joel again. And they literally say why they leave Tommy and Ellie alive. They have a long discussion/fight about it which you find out later in the story
