The RE Engine has clearly hit its limit now then. Up to now it has really only been used for contained, focused experiences like DMC 5 and all the RE games we've had out of it so far, this is an unprecedented game for it in terms of scope. No wonder they've had to begin development on RE Engine 2. Been a really good run, easily been one of the best in-house engines developed by any games developer. I can forgive the 30fps here because of this. I'm not going to deny myself the chance to play what I think will be 2024s GOTY.
@UltimateOtaku91 May have a point there. Can't for the life of me remember what won best racing/sports game last year. Must have been extremely forgettable.
Played 5 hours of this on Xbox and loving it. Decided to go after some cheat completion requirements early, 3 missions in and I'm now equipped with an infinire ammo sticky grenade launcher, infinite stamina and infinite cloaking 😁 But this is just a really fun, old school, balls to the wall shooter with great, tense set pieces,, extremely satisfying gameplay, brutal boss and elite encounters (on higher difficulties especially), gloriously gory action and (in my opinion as it could divide opinion) frenetic, snappy story telling, driven by some very charismatic villains (Jorvik Castle comes to mind) which I think makes the game exhilarating to play from a moment to moment standpoint. This was a steal for £12, but I can say based on what I've played is an easy recommend at full price to FPS afficionados.
1) I can't see the Court Of Appeals entertaining this, I expect them to laugh this appeal out of eye and earshot.
2) I don't expect the Court Of Appeals to make a public announcement on their decision to entertain the appeal (or not) in the next 1 and a bit business days left to go this week, prior to the deal supposedly closing on Monday, and possibly first thing Monday morning.
In short: last gasp posturing from FTC. I expect the deal to close as planned, request to appeal notwithstanding.
Dead Space, Ishin, Atomic Heart and Hogwarts Legacy seem like better bets over the next month (and that's without factoring Resi 4 Remake in March!), and personally, my pre orders for those four games were locked in a long time ago. Though I predict if Atomic Heart misses it's mark even slightly, that could very well end up a worst game of the year contender in the eyes of many and completely overshadow the reception Forspoken has got. Forspoken though was an absolute avoid since it was unveiled as Project Athia, and for me was a rare example of a game that looked progressively worse with each successive trailer it got. Never been interested in Forspoken in the slightest.
@Relygon Apparently a false alarm. It's still aiming for 60fps on consoles.Twistedvoxel.com states this has been confirmed by other people who have early access to it.
Edit: Apparently the 60fps though isn't stable, and this is supposedly with a day 1 patch installed. Remains to be seen then how good day 1 performance is for the rest of us.
@UltimateOtaku91 Yeah, that statement came from a concept artist at Rocksteady, so 1) he's not actually a dev, and 2) he hasn't been involved with the game. Wouldn't have put much stock into any statement from him.
I've also heard now he's come out again and now said he doesn't know for real if it is the Series S to blame for 30fps only. Chatter is the studio were just too lazy to implement a 60fps feature for launch. I'll echo the sentiments of a few on here and hope it's something we see in a future patch.
@Would_you_kindly I never played the 2015 one tbh, but you're right actually. 2015 did look Underground-ish. The car list did seem a bit barren, and yes, I think the online focus was one of the main reasons why I never purchased it. I will be giving Unbound a go in November, a 10 hpur trial will be made available on Game Pass via EA Play. Thinking it best to get hands on with it and give it a proper bash before I properly make up my mind on it.
I want to like this. Feel like it's going back to the Underground days and those games were absolute bangers! But I'm not convinced just yet. I'll reserve judgment until we get some extended gameplay, but I'm really not a fan of the art style and I outright hate A$AP's cameo.
I only said yesterday this game looked like it was shaping up well after that last trailer they put out. Definitely looking like it plays much better but I'm not sure how I feel about the game being put together this way. It all looks a bit incoherent and cobbled together for the sake of having multiple elements from multiple games lumped into it. Not sure about it now, but that's just me though.
@anoyonmus I do think it'll hit consoles eventually. I remember reading about this game months ago (albeit on Wiki when I was reading up on what games Masafumi Takada had composed post-killer7 and No More Heroes 1 & 2 funnily enough) and initially it was described along the lines as "releasing on games consoles". The wording on the games page has since changed to state it's releasing on Switch next year, but I'm still assuming PS and Xbox will get this down the line.
@Ssimsim Reading a bit more in depth into the articles I've semi-referenced, it sounds like it is at least definitely a launch exclusive on PS5 next year, so maybe it is timed? Ahh we'll see with time, I'll amend my last comment to avoid misleading anyone.
@Ssimsim I'm assuming PS will have some kind of exclusivity window for this game. It would be extremely smart business to lock it down in some way. As someone who doesn't own a PS5, I'm seriously thinking this is the game that will make me run out and try and get one.
Edit: Scanning over some outlets that have reported on Stellar Blade, including Game Rant, Destructoid and Escapist, this is being labelled a launch exclusive for PS5 next year. The wording suggests there is some kind of exclusivity window.
@AndyKazama Different strokes for different folks, eh? For me it was Raincode that was the standout. Interested in how they're switching up the Danganronpa formula here. Hearing some new Masafumi Takada music was the cherry on the icing on the cake
I'm gutted I slept on this showcase! Caught up with the highlights today and must say, this was a great show. Expected to see Pragmata, but the Tekken 8 and Ishin reveals were awesome, and so good to see Stellar Blade. Interesting to see Sony are involved here, making me wonder if some kind of exclusivity will be involved with Stellar Blade. Might be time to go seek out a PS5!
@AndyKazama Sorry mate, but the Nintendo showcase wasn't better, I don't think. It had its highlights (Resi on cloud, Raincode and Goldeneye) but the main takeaways from that showcase were 1) Square Enix is ridiculously desperate, and 2) Nintendo needs to work on some updated hardware ASAP - games cannot run like that in 2022 imo. This showcase was tight, focused and bought out some heavy hitters, pretty much just a 20 minute onslaught of high quality titles. I'm not a huge fan of Sony or Nintendo, but I just need to be real here. If you enjoyed the Nintendo showcase though, more power to you. I just didn't think it was all that great. This SoP though? It could be argued it was even better than the last one. Wasn't expecting SoP to be this great.

Re: Horror Hit Alan Wake 2 Is Getting a Retail PS5 Release Because You Wouldn't Shut Up About It
@dskatter US version? Remedy were making that available on Best Buy I think. I checked 5 hours ago and the Best Buy link hadn't popped up.
Amazon links provided on the Alan Wake website were predominantly for us in the UK and EU territories.
