Switch: Animal Crossing New Horizons: I was originally going to put this game on hiatus after paying off the Harv's Island co-ops, but then I thought that with the new update coming out, I decided that now is actually the perfect time to dive back in for a few months. I've also let my younger sister play a bit with my supervision like we did a few times back in 2023 and 2024, and we've already increased the number of hours for ACNH on my profile by 10! Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: I recently completed my spirit collection (the last major thing I needed to do in the game), so now I have no particular reason to play this, but I might do a few online battles if I find the time to do so. Super Mario Maker 2: I'm going to be uploading another new level today after a two week break, most likely a short time after I post this comment. PS4: Super Neptunia RPG: This game has been taking up the bulk of my playtime lately. Since this was a library game and I have to return it soon, I purchased a digital copy on sale for $7.50. All of my party members are currently around level 30.
@ProfessorNiggle, yeah, I do agree that using GenAI is not the best way to do QA. I think we can both agree on that.
I'm just trying to avoid people getting the government involved in controlling what companies can do with AI, because that will only lead to more government control in the long run.
@Flaming_Kaiser, I was not advocating for a world without rules. But sometimes, there are a few too many, especially if a tyrannical / socialist government is involved.
"You say people like me and your other arguers annoy you."
Just to let you know, I did not use the word "annoy" even once in my comments 😃. You can reread them for proof if you want.
"So, I ask you, politely and genuinely, what's your dog in this fight?"
If you read my bio, I share that I'm a libertarian. If you don't know what that is, it's a political philosophy that's a lot more focused on liberty than conservativism or liberalism. That means I like having a lot of choices in life. I'm one of the people who thinks in a "the more options the better" way. So obviously, I love having the option to, if I ever wanted to someday, create a cool AI video off of a series I like, like Pokémon or something, and maybe even share it online. I don't want to make any money off of something like that though, since the Pokémon franchise belongs to the Pokémon Company, not me.
Also another thing that I've noticed is that the same people who talk about AI being copyright infringement, they never say the same thing about YouTube videos or online fanfiction.
Like I said in my previous comment, I have no issues with people stating they dislike AI. Good for them. They don't have to use AI if they don't want to, though I still want the option to do it. I also have no issue with people calling AI soul-less, because honestly, sometimes I think it is as well 🤣, as cool as it all is. What I do have an issue with is people saying stuff like "AI stuff needs regulated and obliterated", because if that ever does happen, it reduces my options, and I never like option reduction.
@Ainu20, let's think about things for a minute with a few more comparisons.
You say that the art is "stolen". One thing you might have noticed over the years is that books may have plot points that are very similar to other books. And why is this? Because there are only so many different plot points that can be used. Eventually, budding authors (like me) have to use plot points and character first and last names that have already been used before. And often, they use those plot points because they have read books with those plot points already, so they know about them. But what if all of those books with that plot point that the author read were from the library? What if they were Christmas presents? If that is the case, the author didn't purchase those books, yet they kind of used those books for their own book. Is that material "stolen", then?
And if you think about it, AI videos that borrow other series are no different from fanfiction that does the same thing. If a writer publishes a fanfiction story that is based off of a copyrighted series but doesn't make any profit off of it, should that fanfiction be taken down?
That's why I don't like people being like "AI needs to be regulated like this!" Those same people don't realize how similar that kind of thing is to things like fanfiction.
Another example: what about people who talk about their favorite series, make fan theories, and stuff like that in YouTube videos? Should all those YouTube videos be taken down? We'd be looking at a massive percentage of YouTube being wiped.
I have no issue with people stating their dislike of AI. What I do have an issue with is people saying that AI things need to regulated and obliterated and all that. Because if that kind of thing did happen, the consequences for YouTube, fanfiction, and even people drawing characters from the favorite series and sharing them online without making any money off of them would be dire.
I really don't want to spend all day arguing with someone on an internet forum, so this will be my final comment on this article even if you reply, though I will at least read your reply if you send one. Have a nice day. 😃
When people make cool AI videos for themselves, they are generally not selling them, right? Therefore, those people aren't making any profit at all on the franchises they use in their AI stuff.
People using other series that already exist for AI as long as they don't make any money off of it is no different from buying art and drawing materials at a grocery store, drawing a character from a series, and showing it to people who may be interested but not making any money off of it.
These do look good, but hopefully they aren't censored too much. I enjoyed the HD-2D Remake of 3 when I played it, but I heard they censored that one a bit compared to the original.
I'm definitely getting those Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth games, they're a high priority at the moment. I'll probably be getting the first one around Christmastime.
Those games are the reason I recently bought a used PS4 in the first place 🤣 (since they are no longer coming out on the Nintendo Switch in the States for some reason 🤬).
Switch: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: slightly fewer than 20 spirits to go (all of them but one involve summoning, the other enhancing), so I should have a complete spirit list by the end of the year. Animal Crossing New Horizons: I convinced myself to temporarily return to this game to check out my new fruit trees I planted several months ago 🤣 and to finish donating to all the Lloids at Harv's island that have been waiting for over two years that my island save has existed. I've already finished donating to... uh... one of them... 🤣. Thankfully, I make a ton of money from selling crops every three days, so it won't take too long. Super Mario Maker 2: I'll be uploading a new course today, probably somewhat soon after I post this comment. PS4: Super Neptunia RPG: I've already played this one for a few hours and am massively enjoying it. All of my party members (Neptune, Noire, Blank) are slightly above Level 10 and I'm currently heading toward the country of Lowee to find an archive of books in search of one of the seven tomes. Current number of trophies: 6 Mobile: Pokémon Sleep
As I've said in previous articles about AI in video game development, as long as it's used to just do things like generate ground to make game development cheaper and faster, I don't mind that. If they start using AI for things like character dialogue, I'll probably be concerned, though.
And if a AAA game was ever entirely made out of AI one day, I think that anyone who wants to play it should get to play it (assuming they pay for it), instead of it being obliterated by governments or whatever, because every game deserves a chance unless it's using a copyrighted name.
Obviously, if anyone wants to boycott a game that had AI use in development, go for it.
@Kidfunkadelic83, so Deku Deals has Playstation Store games as well? I've used that website to look at Switch games and I'll be getting my first Playstation console (PS4) very soon.
What is Sony talking about... there is clearly a distinguishable difference between Horizon and that other game. They're not using the same name or anything. This whole situation is stupid, just like the Pokémon / Palworld debate.
I'm going to be getting a PS4 to play a bunch of Neptunia / Hyperdimension Neptunia games, since the main platform I play on (Nintendo) is no longer getting them. In case you haven't heard, the Nintendo Switch releases of the first three mainline games were canceled because Nintendo of America is seemingly cracking down on games with the kind of content that those games have, if you get what I mean. Almost a year later, I'm still mad about it. Those three mainline games are getting PS4 releases at the end of this month, so I have the first one on my Christmas list for this year. I'm also considering getting Fantasy Life i on the PS4 instead of the Switch just to take a jab at Nintendo of America. They canceled game releases I'm interested in, so they'll get a bit less of my money in exchange 😃. Until I find other games I'm interested in (I will do some research involving that), my PS4 will mostly be a Neptunia machine.
As for the PS5 games that aren't on PS4 that I'm interested in, basically just Astro's Playroom, Astro Bot, and Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter (which is also on Switch, so I can just get it there, and it's not my highest priority at the moment because of Hyperdimension Neptunia). Not really enough to spend $550 on a PS5 in my opinion, especially since I still want to get a Switch 2 next year. Though the fifth mainline Hyperdimension Neptunia game is supposed to be announced by the end of this year, and I could see that being a PS5 exclusive, so maybe about 6-7 years from now, I'll get a used PS5 for that, since there will likely be more PS5 games not on PS4 that will interest me then 🤣.
I'm certainly not getting PS6 at launch, if ever. Very soon, I will be getting myself a PS4 since there are quite a few games on there that I'm interested in. Other than those, there are literally... uh... three games that I'm interested in that are on PS5 and not PS4, so at least for me, there is no point in getting a more expensive PS5, or an even more expensive PS6.
Kind of disappointing that physical copies are no longer complete (though they weren't complete to begin with because dlc), but the first person view looks interesting. 😃

Hello again, y'all! This weekend I'm playing:

Re: In Japan, Switch 2 Retail Sales Are Already Closing on PS5
As great as the Dragon Quest games are, if Game Key Cards keep selling like this, I worry for the future of gaming.

Re: Square Enix Wants 70% of Its QA and Debugging Work Done by Gen AI
Once again, more AI fearmongering. And in this case, AI could actually be super useful, especially if someone checks over the work of the AI.

I'm definitely looking forward to watching it in the theater, hopefully the shooting goes well.
