Re: Gamers Still Pick Consoles for Exclusives, New Data Finds

Click bait

It's funny how this article links to an article that links to yet another article that only mentions the survey with no actual link to a real survey.

What you find on Circanas website, the company to have allegedly ran the survey, is only a link to summwries with no source or statistics.

Re: 'The Solution Is to Get Rid of Consoles': Analyst Predicts $1,000 PS6 and a Transition to Game Streaming

Consoles are likely to remain as a niche market for years to come. However, traditional consoles are already shifting toward hybrid portables. Like it or not, streaming will take over as the primary market.

GeForce is already an amazing service. MS is pushing heavy into streaming, even if they killed off the "everything is an Xbox" campaign, they know streaming is coming.

Sony doubling down on console will only work if gamers can afford new consoles. To do so, Sony will have to either subsidize consoles harder or sell them at a loss. The economics speaks for itself.

Re: Fans Reckon PS Studios Website Adjustments Hint at Sony's Move Away from PC

@TrollOfWar yeah, I'd argue they need PC. Build the following now before the cut point becomes too painful (economically).

Sony is facing a tough scenario if they want to do more than sell consoles. Death from a thousand tiny cuts. They do make profit on console after launch but it's not a lot. Exclusive game sales aren't enough to sustain them.

If they want to maintain market dominance, they need more than exclusives. Ironically, X games coming to PS helps Sony sell consoles but MS is making bank on the game sales, so from a business stance it still ends up short.

If Steam is indeed available on the new X console, it's another cut.

I honestly think Sony is big mad MS is making a Pc/console hybrid they would allow PS titles to hit Xbox as soon as the PC port goes live. They knew the PC side would make less but give new life to exclusives once the console fervor for a given game wears off. Now that MS could eat into that, they are freaking out.

The market economics is moving away from exclusivity for all but the biggest titles. Sony may see some short term gains but the writing is on the wall.

Re: In Destiny 2's Darkest Moment, Bungie Is Betting on Star Wars to Bring Players Back

They turned a great game into a disaster. Instead of building new content, they just keep regurgitating the same bad guys with different colors and the occasional new skill. They had an opportunity when the main story arc closed to go to D3 and start a new one. Nope, more regurgitation.

The game is mostly a tedious chore now. They know this but it's too late. They are desperate to milk it for all its worth. It can't die soon enough IMO.

Re: Video Game Industry 'Doesn't Want a Game Pass', Says Market Analyst

I guess those 35+ million current MS GP subscribers don't count. 😂

I'm sure some want to go back to charging ridiculous prices for games, but many of us enjoy having GP. Besides the obvious benefits, being able to try some games I'd otherwise never buy has doubled my purchased content library. I doubt subscription services are going away anytime soon.

Re: Rumour: Gears of War, Hellblade 2 Both Set for PS5 This Year

Cross play and multi-platform are good for gamers. Dev costs are skyrocketing. Only the biggest titles can possibly afford to be console specific now. Why do you think Sony is slowly pumping more games out for PC?

@Jay767 bless your heart. Xbox isn't done or dead. 😂 MS sees the market shifting away from consoles as a primary access to games and is adapting. Considering they lose money on consoles, they ain't mad bro.

Loved the game. The style was very engaging, even though some lamented the story driven cut scenes. The game has plenty of action but it's spaced in a way so you don't feel overwhelmed. Yeah it has some tedious parts but what game doesn't? If you played thru to the second map, you know exactly what I mean.

I replayed thru on the Xbox release focusing on achievements and found so much more to the game than I did the first time. Eagerly excited for the next one.

Time will push Sony to do the same. Money talks and more 3rd party game devs are abandoning the idea of exclusives, especially for multiplayer. Sonys' already trickling out more of their games to PC.

MS is already on record from multiple sources stating they are actively working on a next gen console and potentially a handheld as well. I'm more excited for a native handheld. They've learned a lot from the surface so it's definitely possible to be a hit.
