May not be a popular opinion, but to me this is another indicator that the JRPG genre (both action and turn based) has not evolved enough over the years, in general at least. Based on reviews, and some purchases, many still use the same generic plots, lame dialog, and unimaginative combat mechanics. Not all, but too many. Just my opinion. Too each our own.

I enjoyed Okami for the most part back in the day. However, even though it was innovative, I remember not totally digging the combat. Will have to see how the sequel turns out.

Intergalactic definitely has my attention. I generally don't play Mature rated games, so will depend on the reviews, and why it is rated Mature.

Horizon FW and ZDR both look great to me on my LG C4 OLED in HDR. I would probably notice the difference if the two consoles were running on identical TVs side by side. But for now I am very satisfied with the graphics of my setup. And when I am sticking and moving in a big machine battle, don't really have time to count blades of grass anyway.

I skipped the PS4, so didn't play HZD, but HFW was one of the first games I played when I 'finally' found a PS5 a couple of years ago. Finished the main game, as well as the DLC, and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to playing HZD now.

@LiamCroft Haven't purchased or played the game yet. Although this article is informative, hopefully Push Square can update the review after this series of patches is complete.

Didn't read the review in detail, but a quick page search did not find a refence to Playstation Plus. However, a quick web search clarified that PS Plus is required. Might have been interested in trying it otherwise, but not subscribing just to play this.

Not generally a fan of Amazon the company, but may try this for the right price down the road if the reviews on console are good.

Played and enjoyed Airship games Battle Chasers: Nightwar, Darksiders: Genesis, and Ruined King, so will probably give Wayfinder a go if it reviews well and the gameplay is appealing.

Although a different art style, it's nice to see graphics approaching Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

Thanks for the update on the ... er, update! If the game sounds ready after Title Update 4, and the Black Friday price is right, I might give it a try.

Probably won't play, but I got a chuckle out of this review title.

Even though it is relatively short, saw another review on a popular site that said they may have dropped the ball in the last few hours. I'm still interested, but with Zelda coming out in a week, will probably hold off for a sale on this.

I don't do betas, but may give it a try once it is out, if the reviews are good.

What about stability improvements?

May pick up Cat Quest 3. Played most of the first, but skipped the second. Like the fact that 3 is actually a smaller time commitment. Played some of the demo, and think I will get my money's worth.

Historically, it seems like 'pro' versions of existing consoles don't do that well since developers are hesitant to code to the higher specs, given the number of 'standard' consoles that have already sold. Requiring 'pro' specs could obviously limit game sales. I'm sure Sony is aware of this, so maybe this won't be a problem for PS5 Pro.

Considering how many blatant Zelda clones are out there, not even trying to be different, not surprised by this.

I played a couple of AW games in the past, and remember generally enjoying them, but haven't been motivated to buy the reboot on Switch.

However, for the right price and reviews, would give this a try.

Was interested in this until I read some other reviews a couple of days ago. As others have said, maybe on sale in the future.

Picked up Crypt Custodian instead, and have been enjoying it.

Really dug Forbidden West, but have struggled to get into the Lego gameplay. Bailed on recent Star Wars. If this reviews well enough, maybe.

This is what puts me off of games like Mana, Tales, etc.

Would like to see these graphics in a single 'hero' type action RPG.

Been playing another game for a while, so this looks like a good alternative to take a break with. Especially since Star Wars Outlaws reviews have been mixed. Will probably grab it today.

Don't plan to play the game, but this article reminds me of the old phrase "Crying all the way to the bank".

Was aware of this update coming, and just read a review on another site. In there opinion, although improved, they still have issues with the combat. Maybe on a deep sale at some point.

@PuppetMaster I know that you can switch the player controlled party member at any time, but unless I am missing something, the AI still has to control the other two party members.

Played the demo for about an hour. Looks great, but just don't enjoy RPGs with computer controlled party members. Combat too chaotic for my taste, and boss battles in other similar games that I've played usually ended up being more of a battle to keep party members alive.

However, for those who like this kind of game, enjoy!

I'm an older gamer who doesn't play M rated games, so that takes a lot of current AAA titles off the table.

A recent surprise (to me) was V Rising. Not particularly a vampire fan, but so far have been enjoying the game play loop through around 20 bosses.

Have only played Vesperia on 360 and Arise on PS5. Started strong but ran out of gas on both.
IMO, it would be nice if developer could figure out how to fix frustrating party AI in boss battles.

Horizon Forbidden West was one of the first games that I played after buying a PS5 a year and a half ago. Also finished the DLC. Really enjoyed it.

I have tried playing a couple of Lego games, including most recently Star Wars Skywalker Saga, but the gameplay just didn't grab me. Depending on how Lego Horizon reviews, may give it a shot.

Played parts of a couple of VW games in the past. Bought and played some of Unicorn Overlord, but took a break once it started to feel a bit like a slog. May pick it up again. Have kind of lost interest in SRPGs in general.

However, I do enjoy their art style in general (other than the ridiculous). An action RPG could be interesting.

A couple of other reviews that I saw weren't bad, but not as enthusiastic. Will probably wait for a sale.

Played the first couple of Suikodens back in the day, but at this point not willing to invest the time and energy into this type of game anymore.

Maybe the developers of DD2 and RotR can patch their games to make them look and play more like Princess Peach.

Looks good. Hopefully the 'AI' control of the team members is better than Trials of Mana. I got tired of trying to keep them alive and bailed. If any RPG has gotten party AI control right, I haven't played it. My experience with Tales of Arise was ultimately frustrating, and the combat in the demo for Granblue Fantasy Relink was so chaotic that I passed on buying the game.

Started the demo on Switch, and then restarted and played longer on PS5. The 'automatic' combat is obviously different that the FE games, but I think that will be enough 'load out' and unit decisions to be made to keep it interesting. Unless the reviews contain anything off putting to me, I plan on purchasing.

Played story mode for about 15 minutes yesterday. Per some of the other comments, I think that the graphics are nice and the combat control is fluid, but just not a fan of Tales type chaotic, computer controlled party members. I also think that the voice acting and dialogue is geared towards a younger audience than me. Depending on how it reviews, may give it a try on sale in the future.

Played some of the demo. Like some other comments, I found it decent but not compelling. After 10 minutes started to feel repetitive. Ori games on Switch look better than this on PS5. May give it a go down the road at a discount.

Don't care about WH 40k universe, but enjoy the occasional deck builder. Maybe on sale down the road.

The environment looks great. I think that 'Will of the Wisps' is the best looking Switch game that I have played.

However, it also looks like a lot of other grimdark games where you just run around killing everything. Maybe it will contain some depth and/or a non-generic plot and writing. I really enjoyed Horizons: FW.

Beautiful game, but after the pain of trying to keep my computer controlled party members alive (to no avail) in the boss battles of Trials of Mana, I hope that SE comes up with better AI for this one.

Looks interesting. Being an older gamer, reminds me of the work of an artist named Peter Maxx, as well as the Beatles animated movie Yellow Submarine.

I don't generally play city builders, but enjoyed DQ Builders 2. Also enjoyed the other Steamworld games.

I like the fact that this sounds more accessible and not punishing. When I read that a game is brutally difficult (whatever genre) or frustrating, pass.

I'll probably give this a go at some point.

Not my cup of tea, but sounds like an enjoyable game for fans of the genre. For some reason I am getting a 'future movie' vibe.

This looks potentially great to me. Hopefully it ends up being a lot of fun.

What about stability?

I'm an older gamer who sold off or donated most of my game collection (~150) in the last year. My current systems are Switch (sold most of my physicals and buy digital) and PS5 Digital Edition.
I read a number of these comments, and see that many gamers are passionate about wanting to continue to have the option to buy physical.
Not sure if this was already mentioned, as I didn't read all of the comments, but ultimately it will come down to money, and digital distribution is likely much cheaper than physical.
