Also, this one is coming out almost exactly two years after the initial release of D6 in Japan, which was on PS4 and Switch then. For some reason (likely money paid by Nintendo, since it was exactly a year after that PS4/5/PC versions released), they only localized the Switch version in the west in June of 2021. The Complete version released in the west came out in June 2022.
I love the Disgaea series, as it's one of my favorites and the games often lend themselves to a lot of hours of gameplay. Disgaea 6, while with some setbacks, was still a lot of fun to me. I just hope NISA doesn't pull the year timed exclusivity crap with this one in the west, since Disgaea 6 didn't run all too well on the Switch (I've still yet to play my PS4 copy of Disgaea 6).
The original game came out in 2019 and was exclusive to the PS4 at the time. I'm pretty sure no one at Sony is losing sleep over this coming to Game Pass on PC, especially since Sony has likely gotten all of the money they can out of it. Also, as mentioned in the update part of the article, the PC Game Pass version isn't the updated Director's Cut, so it's not the definitive edition of the game.
@truerbluer Sony didn't have a choice with MLB The Show, as it is a game with the MLB license. So, the MLB wanted the game on multiple systems, with a third party publishing it on non-Sony platforms. That means if they wanted to keep the MLB license, they didn't have a choice on which platforms it released on.
Yeah, the lack of the iconic voices/music from the get go definitely hurt the game a lot (a lack of budget, as I'm sure the people funding it just saw it as another cash grab licensed game), plus the fact you had to pay to play the game. Multiversus overshadowing the game didn't help any, especially since it is free to play. We will definitely see more smaller fighting games go free to play, most likely (League of Legends one announced they are).
@IonMagi Yeah, they're on such horrible terms, which is why Disgaea 6 was released on PS4 in Japan at launch, then the Complete version released on both PS4 and PS5 about one year after the Switch version released in the west...
Sometimes I feel like licenses should be issued out for a lot of things that don't otherwise have licenses. For example, there should probably be a license issued in order to use the internet, as well as have kids or even own a pet.
People need to realize that it's fine if you have some criticism of a project and offer something that is constructive towards it. However, threatening people and calling them all kinds of names isn't going to help, but the anonymity of the internet doesn't help with that.
@AdamNovice Yeah, he was talking about this last night on his stream. He does mention that games like Mortal Kombat wouldn't work, since they tend to sell very well, due to the name and everything (plus MK games tend to hold up value, as they offer a lot of content, like Story Mode or even the Krypt). Smaller titles, though, like maybe Virtua Fighter or the recent DNF Duel, could probably work as free-to-play. I do wonder if a lot of the criticisms that Street Fighter 5 faced at launch would've been lesser if it was free-to-play.
Former industry veteran leaves their old studio, goes on to form a new studio, then proceeds to boast they are "working on a game unlike anything you have ever played before."
You see this all the time from these people, then they eventually release their game and it's like every other game out there. I understand that he wants people to take notice of this new studio and everything, but don't start trying to hype a game you can't show yet (people will inevitably do this anyways).
@Americansamurai1 Resident Evil 4 Remake comes out like two months after this new date for Forspoken, so I doubt it will overshadow it much. Now, it might get slightly overshadowed by the Dead Space Remake, which comes out that same week.
@GADG3Tx87 The Switch was last reported at 107 million back in March, straight from Nintendo as a source. That was coming from 103 million previously, so a 4 million increase since the last report from them. They seem to do updates every quarter, so I highly doubt they sold almost 16 million consoles in a three month span. I imagine the Switch is probably somewhere close to 110 million right now. I see it easily passing the Game Boy, but I don't think it will dethrone either the DS or PS2.
I have a feeling we will see the Persona Dancing games coming to more platforms, instead of the actual RPGs. While I would love to see Persona 3 and 4 coming to PS4 and other platforms, Atlus has been weird with its ports.

Re: Sony Promises 1-Hour PS Plus Trial for Rollerdrome, Offers 35 Minutes
@hoffa007 That was never officially stated by Sony and was just a rumor going around via "insiders."

Re: PSP Remake Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness Levelling Up PS Plus Premium in Japan
This is an interesting choice, since Disgaea 1 Complete is already on the PS4 (not sure if that's on the PS+ service).
Re: MultiVersus Trophy List Looks Like a Massive Grind for the Platinum
This sounds like a trophy list that will be boosted a lot by trophy hunters.

Re: Mini Review: Tekken 2 (PS1) - Broken and Awkward, But Still a Classic Fighter
I've heard Tekken 3 might have some licensing issues, because of Gon being included in the game, but no one knows for sure.
Re: Disgaea 6 Complete Demo Is Out Now on PS5, PS4
I just hope this version of the game runs better than the Switch version, which was a bit underwhelming, in terms of performance.
