Honestly if it's like a PVE open world multiplayer game with quests, big new robots to take down with friends, clans etc it could be really good.

It's not for me but it sounds like something that could be good, rather than just another overwatch ripoff

@PloverNutter I suspect they will have to do this as a sort of make good.

They still don't have dragons dogma 2 running at 60fps on a base PS5 and announced a pro patch for it.

I imagine that based on the fact it's also an open world game on the RE engine, it will also struggle to meet 60 on the base

@MrPeanutbutterz Off the top of my head, Shinobi, Jeff Grubb, Colin Moriarty. It's hard to retain all of their names honestly, because a lot of them go by aliases like "duskgolem", "danielKPK"etc.

I'll say outright, there are voices in the space that I do trust. Jason Schrier, Jez Corden, Tom Henderson are all good voices and have been proven time and time again to have sources on the inside.

But a lot of these anonymous sources just cater in pure guess work based on existing knowledge.

For five quid I'll tel you that Activision are working on a new call of duty, there'll be a new Uncharted eventually and there'll be a new god of war. It's just a guess but it'll all come to fruition.

I cant tell you anything about the setting, protag or anything on the above games, because they're guesses. But I'll be proven right on my initial statement in the next 5 years. So I guess I'm a leaker now, I better start up a Patreon and start tweeting

@MrPeanutbutterz If someone told me they knew they were working on a ghosts of tshshima sequel but didn't know fundamentals such as a new protag, a time jump etc, I think it's correct to assume they just guessed. They didn't have any insider knowledge at all.

@Kelrics90 yup. The leakers who all have no knowledge were just guessing as Sony have remastered every game that has a film/TV show in the making (until dawn, horizon, tlou)

There was rumblings from your grubbs and other oracles that there was a Ghosts of Tsushima 2 in production. But literally none of them pertained to the change of the name, the massive time jump,the female protag or the fact they were moving the series to be a Japanese history anthology rather than an ongoing story.

You just have to conclude from this that all those leakers were just guessing (because of course you'd expect a sequel from a massive game that sold like hotcakes) because there's no way you don't find out some of these details with insider knowledge

Vampyr is a great mid budget title and didn't find the audience at the time.

So wonder if Banishers will be propping up their profits as it finds an audience in 5 years time as their new game bombs

If you're interested in Epic Mickey and Warren Spectre, definitely read Jason Schreiers book "Press Reset", it has a whole chapter on how the game came about and the difficult dev cycle, as well as the rise and fall of Spector's Junction Point studio.

Resources should be used on new games.

It's literally insane to intentionally make your console modular to save money and then not offer face plates for existing owners

And the fps story genre is practically dead and buried.

God of war you could argue was the exception to the rule but id argue they vastly changed the tone, gameplay and story depth of those games when they did the soft reboot.

If they dont drop a 60FPS patch soon, I'm going to start to worry about Capcoms upcoming titles.

Hastely promoted as mentioned here, I actually think that although Guerilla have a very good technical team, their games have always been pretty poor in the character, dialogue and story department. Something that Hulst never managed to turn around in his time in charge.

And then he was promoted over and over again, in spite of this. I'm sure you can point to guerillas sales as being a good team with a good leader but I just don't think they make very good creative decisions. Both of their major franchises just chase current trends (first person shooters, then open world games) but never perfected the genres they were chasing.

And now, Concord fails, a game pushed by Hulst...a game that fails in the character department, is chasing current trends in 2024 (live service hero shooter) and has a poor story. Sound familiar?

It boils down to ratings boards. Getting an AO rating is tied to in-game behaviour deemed damaging to society. Remember Hatred? You could argue it's the same as GTA and if you're simplistic it is, but it's not the same. The game rewards the player and its story is to massacre innocent civilians as much as possible.

The points for Erotica in this game used to not really be much of a thought in 2006. But now, this action is a crime in real life. When this game gets to the censor board, it will be pulled up that the game features a mechanic where the player is rewarded for taking creep shots of unsuspecting women and judged on that.

And when a game gets rated AO, Walmart wont stock it and a lot of countires (including the UK) have rules about publicly advertisting it.

It's an ass covering exercise by Capcom. Thats it

Capcom dont want the game to reward you for this behaviour as its now considered to be a crime. It wasn't when the game came out. You can still still do these things, you just wont get 100PP every time you do it. In the same way that you can still run over pedestrians in GTA but you dont get rewarded for it.

You're still free to do it.

@DeepEyes GTA has missions where you have to kill an innocent civilian who does not at all challenge you, doesn't not pull out a weapon and fight back and in no way in construed to be a bad person in the game?

@DeepEyes It's the act of reward for killing that needs to be considered.

If you shoot civilians in COD, the mission fails. Killing civilians in GTA doesnt reward you with extra guns or trophies or anything.

You can still take photos of women in this game. You can still kill women, take a photo up their skirts and then stroke your stuff to your hearts content.

It's the act of giving you Prestige Points and rewarding you for doing it thats problematic and why they've disabled this in the remaster.

if you whip out a camera and start taking photos so you can check them out later, its a crime.

you do need to tell people that upskirting is illegal unfortunately. it happens too often, even in spite of it now being illegal.

Now it is literally a crime in the majority of countries around the world.

It is not surprising that Capcom would want to remove the gameplay function that goes "NICE 100 POINTS " every time you commit what is considered to be a sex crime.
