DW:O was so sick koei is cooking fire lesgoo
Sword of Play seems more appropriate based on the games shown.
Days Gone obvs 😏
@colonelkilgore you’re not wrong. It was gone from the stream…
@Yousef- … for Days
So Days Gone Remaster was false, which I honestly would have paid the $10 for because I would legitimately go back and do a new game plus for it.
Horizon though..... Nah. I just don't see the replay value there. It was so boring, better than forbidden west by a long shot but it was still a bit of a slog with all the busy work to clear the map.
The only thing interesting was ghost. It'll probably come out November 2025. I hope they have something else lined up.
And Hitman PSVR2, the show was worth it for that.
£9 or 10 buckaroos.
Out in December and trust me to have just plugged in my PSVR1 and started it this last week.
@Kelrics90 I kind of figured they weren't going to make a remake. Sony was pretty direct with the creator when he wanted to make a part two on not funding it. Remastering a game they had no interest in making a continuation. It seems like they just don't like IP.
@mountain_spider I think Ghost will be April - July. Won't be January - March because of Hiroki Totoki's comments back in February meanwhile Fall/Holiday would mean competing with GTA6 which sounds unwise.
I can’t be the only one excited for Dino Crisis?
Ghost of Tsushima 2: Return of the Sausages!
@ChopperCampbell I was also very excited to see the PSOne game coming!
@Grumblevolcano you're right. I forgot about grand theft auto six.
Dude you missed the Lunar remasters. I am very excited about those!
AC Shadows who?
When you put it in a list like that it's a bit underwhelming.
Lots of the filler games all looked the same with the fight huge monsters.
To many remasters and not enough actual remakes from the ground up types. I think I'm just over the whole 4k lick of paint remasters and want full blown resi demon soul remakes at this point, alot of these deserve that treatment.
Dino Crisis I'm excited to play again that was an amazing game, but it's 1 game in which I think they should of done a resi style remake of, the modern engine would make this game amazing and breath new life into that series.
Ghost was a surprise but I just don't know maybe it's because I know what I'm getting or the fact isn't Jin. That I wasn't that blown away by it,
Maybe if I see a 4k trailer of it and a deep dive.
Also the ps5 pro montage what the actual.
6 games on repeat to make it look like they have loads of titles being given the enhanced treatment. It's not a good look for an expensive console. It doesn't shout out you need this.
Oh dear. Looks like that concord money should have been spent on some single player reboots of old forgotten PlayStation properties. The problem with keeping the investors happy is that you're ignoring what made PlayStation great, CaliforniaStation just isn't doing it for me. Very poor.
Please add Towers of Aghasba. That looked very intruiging!
Edit: Also The Midnight Walk
@TheBigK Probably my favorite reveal. I missed Lunar back in my PS1 days.
A lil bum on no days gone (Boo me all you want but I had a good time!).
At least we finally got Ghost 2!! Day one for sure!!
@Yousef- are these games any good, I have never played them
@KillerBoy I’d say so yeah. DW8 is a great starting point. And DW:O is just gonna be so fun.
@Kelrics90 yup. The leakers who all have no knowledge were just guessing as Sony have remastered every game that has a film/TV show in the making (until dawn, horizon, tlou)
And they guessed wrong
Nice! Lunar, GoY and the Horizon remaster have my interest. While I will get Lego Horizon on Switch and hope Lunar goes the same, defo getting the other two on PS5 (as opposed to waiting on PC which is a step up for me).
Edit: will get Lunar on Switch.
Overall it was good, everything in there is fresh for me until I step into current-gen.
I'm excited and terrified at the same time for the coming year.
Have mercy on those exclusives lurking in the shadows 🙏
Here low-key wishing for Mirror's Edge Raymastered or the next entry🤞
Happy about Ghost but these State of Plays are the same thing every time… Weird indie games, check. Retro/Megadrive-looking games, check. PSVR games, check. Medieval/fantasy games, check. JRPG’s, check. One good game at the end that people actually want, check. I suppose we have a Remasters category now too, check.
I know they’re trying to cover all of their bases but I could do without the Retro games and PSVR games every time.
It all just feels very stale.
Here I am at 43, still waiting for my Dark Cloud 3. Nothing else matters… EVER!!!
@MrMeeeseeeks it’s variety though. Pretty much everything you’ve listed will appeal to someone one way or another. But honestly, gamers will always gripe about whatever’s not there. It’s pretty much always a lose/lose for any company putting these things on.
@MrMeeeseeeks @AhmadSumadi
Indeed very weird to be complaining about PlayStation ticking all the boxes.
Ah, did I miss something or is there no mention above of the PSVR2 content?
Hitman, midnight walk and Metro aren't mentioned here.
Either way pretty solid for a SoP in general
VR stuff was excellent 👍
@maybemaybemaybe yep, the midnight walk looked awesome, hitman should be fun and metro looked solid
@The_Wailing_Doom it’s not ticking all the boxes exactly. It’s ticking the same handful of boxes every SoP.
lol at some guy who complaints for the sake of complaining.
But thanks for the recap @Liam Croft
So, Jeff Grubb said "less exciting remaster" and turns out it's Lunar and Soul Reaver remaster which is a very exciting news for me and a lot of people.
Lunar series has been dead for 19 years (last game was Dragon Song for NDS back in 2005) and Legacy of Kain has been dead for 21 years (last game was Defiance for PS2 back in 2003). It's nice to see old and niche IP like Lunar and Soul Reaver got a revival in 2024.
Hell is us & ghosts of yotei were my faves.
@Kelrics90 They weren't ever going to do a remaster of a game the Sony suits hated and most people who have zero taste also hated especially when the game graphically stands up.
Nothing worth mentioning then - at least for me. But that's ok; plenty of games to keep me going and I HAVE been wanting to replay Zero Dawn again.. so i'll probably do that 10 euro upgrade path that they're offering
Ugh, it was utterly depressing for me, arthouse indie games, dark souls clones, remasters and then they cap it all off by retiring one of the most interesting characters Sony has ever created and bringing out a ghost 2 without him.
Sony just seems to be doing its best to make sure I'm not spending money.
I was pretty excited throughout. Most games shown in the first 20-25 minutes looked good and made me want to play them
I´m surprised that the Legacy Of Kain remaster actually exists, but that´s pretty cool. Considering what they showed and that it´s only a remaster, I doubt we´re going to see big changes to the game, which is a shame. The original Soul Reaver is a real tragedy when it comes to cut content.
I´m really happy the Stellar Blade OST is finally available in good quality. No idea why it took this long, but here we are
The Midnight Walk looked amazing. Such a cool artstyle
ArcheAge 2 also looked crazy. I´m sure that´ll get downgraded to hell and back before we see anything resembling actual gameplay
I'm a simple man, very excited for the Astro Bot DLC 😊
Ghost of Yotei, Lunar and Monster Hunter. 🥳
Was Dino Crisis just for PS+/Now or was it a regular release for PS4/5?
Edit: Freebie for PS+
Few good bits in there for me. Monster hunter, Ghost, Stellar blade photo mode and Legacy of Kain. Disappointed that Dino c isnt getting a Resi 4 remake or atleast the Tomb raider treatment and will get a shoddy PS1 port. It deserves better than that.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Absolutly agree. I guess Capcom don't have much faith in the Dino Crisis IP and wants to test the waters and have a look at the metrics/userbase with this "release" before they commit to something with more substance.
How many titles were VR2?
thought it was an average show just more remakes again
No PC announcements so it's all good.
@CyborgToaster
Why not put the negative attitude to bed, it's draining.
I'm interested in the Hitman 3 PSVR2 update. Does anyone know if it's a free update or do we have to pay?
Only interested in 2.
Horizon and Lego Horizon.
Pretty mid, tbh
@CyborgToaster this.
@Kidfunkadelic83 I think Capcom knows really well that people are asking for a new Dino Crisis game including remake. Their own survey showed Dino Crisis at top 10 for Capcom games that people want to see for a remake / new game. It's an easy money for Capcom since their RE remake are very popular and well received.
The only problem is RE team already busy with their current projects (possibly RE 9 & Code Veronica / 0 / 5 remake) to the point they can't afford to split the team for Dino Crisis remake / new game.
But i'm not surprise if Capcom already greenlight Dino Crisis remake after they got the results from their survey. They probably gonna wait until RE team finished one of RE game and then they'll start pre-production for Dino Crisis.
@tinCAT-zero just went to the official website, they have the vr2 update priced at $9.99/€9.99/£8.99
So not free but a good price!
@Medic_alert
Hi, thanks. I'm looking forward to playing it, it looks like it could be good.
Soul reaver and new ghosts is excellent, as is Dino crisis although I rather play that on emulation like duck station which is alot better than the PS emulation but at least capcom knows it exists.
Don't care about the rest personally but 🤷
More excited about old games than new ones except for Ghost. Ghost and DS2, provided they both launch next year, is pretty solid on the first party front for me. Both are more exciting that GTA6 in my estimation.
Really surprised we saw nothing of the Live Service line-up, perhaps Sony is cutting their losses there. The overall showcase was ok, but Dino Crisis and Blood Omen being more exciting to me than most new games sort of shows where I’m at.
Solid showing for PSVR2, all things considered. Still no 1st party Sony AAA PSVR2 exclusives because they never existed. But also, a whopping one AAA PS5 exclusive coming at some point next year. Guess the PS5 is dead, too (sarcastic comment).
For me it was more boring and dull then watching paint try and dry in a high humidity. Only one reasonable new game, Ghost of someone, and that's not out till next year.
Meanwhile all the other studios are just making completely unwanted remasters, questioning why I've got a PS5...
@S1ayeR74 take it with a grain of salt but , news is that there are more unannounced 2025 exclusives to be announced. also one take away from the state of play is that nixxies is handling the horizon remaster/upgrade , which takes care of remasters/pc ports of games, which isn't really taking anything away from other games. i'm guessing they'll be doing days gone as well.
Very excited for The Midnight Walk! That looks amazing!
More Astro Bot and Alan Wake are also both very exciting. Hell Is Us looked interesting and Ghost of Yotei looks great but I need to play Tsushima still.
£10 to upgrade horizon zero dawn but does that apply to.the free copy everyone got
@S1ayeR74 totally agree with you as this console generation has been piss poor for exclusive games.i don't want horizon zero dawn and the 2 soul reaver games.its a PS1 game so what could the possibly do to it apart from the frame rate and add a bit of sheen to the visuAls
Hitman VR & Ghost 2 were the only games that peaked my interest.
@Rocky1972 yes! it does include the free copy
I thought generally it was a good State of Play. Delighted with the PSVR2 showing. Needs mentioned more on here🤷♂️
@Discol76 having a psvr2 headset im pretty happy to see some announcements , it feels like its actually getting a 2nd wind
@twitchtvpat
I agree. There really is a good catalogue of games for it now especially if you haven't given it a go yet, granted not the amount of 1st party stuff i was hoping for when I bought it at launch but now more than enough to keep me busy and new stuff coming out soon or in the pipeline. PushSquare should be doing a better job sharing the positives of it😊
It is clear that I have finally outgrown the PlayStation brand. I've been a gamer across many platforms since '82, and the state of modern gaming, especially within the linear limited console market, it's has had its day for me. I'm not the target audience now looking at that dire list. I stopped buying first party games back during the PS3 era. A return to PC is now where I shall use my disposable income, for the gaming experiences I want, that consoles will always be unable to offer.
Dont wanna complain too much. I know its hard to cover something like this and its a lot of work. But you still forgot about Towers of Aghasba. I mentioned it earlier in the comments. Its a PS5 console exclusive if im not mistaken
