Re: Review: Sonic Forces (PS4)

Kosmo

@kyleforrester87 I don't know. I find it's a good iteration, even if it's not great by any means. The levels are short, but to the point, I loved the avatar thing, the story is typical Sonic nonsense, the OST is very cool, there are multiple pathways in the levels if you have the righ Wispon or if your skill is high enough... Overall, as I said it's enjoyable.
I feel like it's the Sonic name that drags it down because people will expect something great, not something average. But I'd take this over Sonic Boom any day.
The downpoint I found is the physic of the jumps, which was very heavy and sometimes just weird, making side scrolling sections obnoxious sometimes.

A very harsh review... It's not stellar by any means, but it's serviceable and very fun. Oh well... I guess it's fashionable to say Sonic games are bad.

Re: Wait, Dissidia Final Fantasy Is Confirmed for PS4?

@Tsurii Looking at the videos, yes, they are building all characters from scratch and majorly changing some. Vaan, for example, has nothing to do with his 012 iteration.

The only thing that bothers me is how they butchered some of the music in the trailers. That reindition of Dancing Mad makes me cry...

Re: Review: Resident Evil 6 (PS4)

@themcnoisy And yet, despite obvious flaws, people love Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Sonic Rush 1 and 2, Sonic Colors, and Sonic Generations. Those have received praise, and they are overall good games. I liked the others too, except for 2006, Unleashed and Boom.

I think it's like @Ambient_Malice is saying: the games receive bad press because it's not what people want them to be. The develop try new things and they're not received well. It's all the more absurd when games like the New Mario Bros series get criticized for always being the same...

Looking at the fun factor, though, RE6 is a very fun game, action-packed and challenging. I guess you just have to get RE4 out of your head before playing.

Woaw, I can't believe the hate on this game. I did it from A to Z in co-op with my girlfriend, and I enjoyed it immensely. The action-gameplay was fun, if certainly not scary, and gross enemies made us want to shoot them. The story was good B-movie stuff, and we had a lot of fun acing the game twice.
Maybe it's like Sonic games. RE games can be as good as they want: they'll still get flak.

@Grawlog My thought exactly. I'd love the pretty C4codemon skin for Ymir, but I'm not about to dish out yet another 30€ just for it, knowing that I have so many skins and voice packs on PC. Until the accounts are properly merged, I feel Smite PS4 will wait.

I'm glad to see so many comments backing up my thoughts: this is an absolutly horrible game. It looks like crap, controls worse, and even sounds awful. I deleted it very, very, very fast.

@JesWood13 I'm ashamed to say I have turned to the internet for the Illhyl Chalice materials, but at least I was close.
The Defiled Chalice's bosses are a royal pain in the butt though.

Here's help:

  • getting Loran's Bastard is easy when you see where it's from
  • Arcane Haze is extractable from any material if you have the right tool. And that tool turns out not to be in Yharnam.
  • Students are fond of Red Jelly
The Living String is held by a unique enemy hidden in the blackest nightmare

The first I was sent here, I was surprised by just how much damage the Kidnappers and the Hags can do! The Hags can grip you and lengthily cut your throat, and the Kidnappers are strong and fast.
I explored the outside area by running like crazy, and was face to face with Giant Boars... Taking them out was out of the question and I couldn't find a single open door. By the time I actually came back to the Church and found the lamp, I was mentally exhausted.
