Re: Soapbox: I No Longer Think Subscriptions Like PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass Are the Future of Gaming

Well said, Sammy. I do think subscription services provide great value for a lot of gamers, and will have a place for the foreseeable future. On the other hand, they are not exactly friendly to many publishers, at least at current price points.

What makes the most sense to me is a Netflix-style library of older titles that can be downloaded / streamed and which are always available to enjoy, rather than the current "rotation" of games that come and go.

I started playing this in 60fps mode on launch day in December, expecting it to keep me occupied until a certain game comes out next month... and I'm still going at it, 100 hours in and enjoying every minute of it.

I still experience occasional weirdness and brief crashes but it is what it is. I'm loving the game regardless. This is only my second play-through, and first in several years, so I'm having a blast.

FIFA is a deeply corrupt, hopelessly inept organization run by absolute buffoons who assume any game with "FIFA" in its title will sell millions of copies. I suppose they will try to develop the game themselves, thinking they can keep all of the profits instead of only getting a big licensing deal from 2K or Konami, and the result will be an absolute dumpster fire.

I'm probably wrong but it will be fun to see what happens!

Re: Xbox Series X|S Is Getting Trounced by PS5, Microsoft Weirdly Reveals

For all intents and purposes, Nintendo doesn't really compete with Sony and Microsoft anymore. The Switch is largely in a market of its own, somewhere between hardcore gamers, casuals, and kids / families who want something more substantive than mobile games.

I would guess there are far more people who own a PS5 and Switch or Xbox and Switch than who own both a PS5 and an Xbox.

The real question is why Microsoft conveniently ignored PC gaming, the vast majority of which is played on Windows machines.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy God of War Ragnarok?

I definitely want the game for PS5 and I will get it at some point. $70 is a lot of money, so I have to budget for it alongside other games I am interested in. Also, I rarely buy games at launch anymore; I wait for all the bugs and subsequent patches to be worked out.

Day-one buyers are the biggest QA for most developers.
