Re: Warner Bros Allegedly Looking to Offload NetherRealm, TT Games

ImGumbyDammit

@mrtennis1990 If MK IP is not part of Nether Realms Studio how does that help Sony? Plus I expect WB is still expecting more money than these studios are worth so it might be too much money for what Sony would get out of it. And Sony doesn't like to spend large sums of money on studios and like to have a long history with a studio at some level. The cost may be driven up especially if MS is actively seeking NR as well.

In contrast, it would help MS directly since they have Killer Instinct IP and no developer for it and fighting game developers are a breed among themselves (an art form that doesn't easily translate from other game genre devs) And ED Boone, MK co-creator and lead dev at NR, has been noted that he would love to make a KI game or even more a KI and MK cross over game.

@DertieBertie Totally believable. Have you seen some of the crap fanboys do on YouTube? This would not seem out of place for some of those wackos. I have seen a fanboy (full-grown man) cry in a car in their driveway (i.e. like the Brittney Spears fan - Leave Her Alone) all because some mag/video was not praising their love to his god, the PS. Then there is the one with the PS fan who gets all teary-eyed about Game Pass ruining the world and PS is the only one that can save us from that evil. Yeah, we know that guy is 25 year old virgin and prime for cult membership. Plenty more (Xbox and Nintendo have them too, but PS because it has more users so it has more wackos). So, yup. this is totally in the realm of possibilities. And let's not ignore that thousands signed a petition asking Sony to fire Jim Ryan (just as crazy as this petition). So, let's not think this is not possible.

Re: Reaction: Messy Ghost of Tsushima Upgrade Makes PS5 for the Payers

ImGumbyDammit

@thefourfoldroot You literally are example of the confused consumer who thinks he knows what is going on.

Here is the laydown of what it costs to go from PS4 to PS5. First you have to update your PS4 game to the PS4 Directors Cut for $20 Then to update to the DC on the PS5 (again the only way to update to the PS5 version) is to pay another $10 for PS5 DC. You can't get around having to pay for DLC it is required if you want to update to the PS5 version. People are not upset about the DLC. They are upset about the $30 that will actually cost PS4 gamers to get the PS5 version (not $10 or $20 like people are saying but $30). At the end of the day, many companies whether it is Xbox or a lot of third-party studios have offered game updates with a lot of next-gen features added over the previous-gen version for the cost of nothing. Again, people aren't upset about the DLC cost. They agree for paying for that. Rather is about Sony is tying it to the next-gen upgrade and not making the cost of DLC an option if you don't want it.

What Sony should had done is just updated the game with the next-gen features for free. I remember Sony said they don't believe in gens. Or are they going back on that after lying about it previously? I can't tell as they sure are showing how gens are separate now. Give that free next-gen update but then offer a DLC $20 that works on either PS4 or PS5. And people can buy it or not but are not forced in any way to buy it that it is now being done. You know Sony should handle it how most studios handle all this. At the end of the day, PS5 buying the game now get the DC for $70 (with DLC. etc). If you were a good little Sony PS4 owner and bought GOT for $60 on your PS4 at the end of the day it is going to cost $90 ($60 for the game, $20 for upgrade to the DC version, and $10 to upgrade tax for PS5 version of the DC game) all to get to that same content PS5 is charging $70. This is nickel and diming people. The loyal customer who was there from the beginning spending their money on the game a year ago. Then spent $500 on a console. And Sony doesn't say "thanks for sticking by us but truthfully we don't we care as we are going to charge you more for being loyal PS4 foot soldiers, just suck up and take it"

Re: Random: PlayStation Fans Start Petition to Cancel Hideo Kojima's Rumoured Xbox Game

ImGumbyDammit

@DertieBertie Have you seen some of the bat$hit crazy people on YouTube supporting PS? There are plenty of sane people but come on we all know there are some fanboys that PS console has that feel they are owed for their allegiance and just make us well-balanced people cringe in embarrassment with some of the things they do or say. I am talking super fanboys. Xbox doesn't seem to have them the way PS has. At least they don't post videos of themselves sitting in a car outside their house crying about their plastic box vs another plastic box. Heck, PS fanboys went all bat$hit crazy and created a fire Ryan petition, and thousands signed it. All because every moment of every news cycle wasn't about PS but Xbox for a few months and Ryan was not personally speaking to them about plans in motion. They wanted Sony to consult them first (sound familiar? Just like this Kojima expectation of what he owes them - the PS fanboy). And you think somehow this new one is beyond and obviously fake? Look around you woke cancel culture makes people think they have some power that they really don't have.

Re: Random: PlayStation Fans Start Petition to Cancel Hideo Kojima's Rumoured Xbox Game

ImGumbyDammit

@Ward_ting May not be official as of yet but lets not forget how it got here. Kojima pitched his idea (the same one he is most assuredly pitching MS) and they turned him down. Again, Sony turned him down. He then pitched it to Stadia and they put a green light on it. And that green light ended when Google closed all in-house development. So Kojima and MS started getting cozy.

Re: Is Half-Life: Alyx Coming to PSVR? Here's What Valve Had to Say

ImGumbyDammit

@andrewsqual McDonald's has more hamburgers sales then anything out there but that doesn't make them anywhere close to having the best hamburger. And that goes for Sony PSVR too.

By the way Google Cardboard has 5 times the numbers over PSVR. Yeah, I know not the same thing (Cardboard is meh). Well PSVR is "meh" compared to most other better performing VR headsets (like Index or Oculus).

Re: Is Half-Life: Alyx Coming to PSVR? Here's What Valve Had to Say

ImGumbyDammit

@GodGamer Probably for the same reason PS fans are not calling for Spider-Man, TLOUII and other games to be on the PC.

As for a business end of things Sony definitely make more money by such a move to PC then Valve would make by making HLA on the PSVR. I definitely would not affect their console sales like HLA would affect Valve's potential Index sales.

Re: PS5 Slogan Change Gives Weight to Massive Next-Gen Leak

ImGumbyDammit

There is a lot wrong with the list.

First, it is made of expectations already in play.

Secondly. is the talk about a competitor. Sony has no idea about the pricing of Series X. If both boxes are similarly powered, they will be similarly priced. Sony is not taking that big of a loss on the build or Microsoft is going to be that much more overpriced with similar specs. That alone should be a giveaway that this is another thirteen year old fanboy list. And god I hope the PS5 is more powerful then a Lockhart (which is not officially even known to exist - again talking about a competitor info as facts)

Third, unless the launch window is considered 6 months then MLB in October makes no sense as it usually arrives in Spring. And in 2021 the game is going multi-plat. So not exactly going to be exclusive at that point anyways.

Fourth, 4chan. Yup that is reliable. /s

Re: Feature: Which Studios Could Sony Realistically Acquire?

ImGumbyDammit

What you have to look at is how a studio benefits Sony's future goals. And according to Yoshida that will be service based priority. They need content that is continous. They are going to make a big push with PSNow next-gen and that takes content that differentiates yourself. This is what Microsoft is doing by buying smaller (but established teams) to bring out continous content (not just big AAA blockbuster games) all in order to support both Game Pass and their streaming aspirations and keep people in their ecosystem and paying to play.

If anything that is exactly what Sony wants as well (just look at Yoshida's comments on all this - he understands where the market is heading and he wants to be prepared to do battle there). They have a good stable of larger AAA games makers, they need the smaller content makers to differentiate and fill the void with those larger breaks between the times the AAA games appear and to avoid dry spells. Sony making moves about buying up developers is all about those similar plans of GAAS (streaming and game subscriptions) and keeping those people paying to play in a digital ecosystem. And less about supporting a console.

Re: Feature: Which Studios Could Sony Realistically Acquire?

ImGumbyDammit

@BAMozzy
Buying up studios does not mean the lack of independent studios next gen. More studios are always being created. People leave studios to start their own all the time. That is how many of these game studios being discussed started in the first place. The more you buy the more will pop up and replace them.
