Between this and those PC updates, I think Sony's new goal is pretty clear: release their games on PC (and possibly other systems) but lock SOMETHING to the PS5/PS account requirement. Can't be big enough for people to complain, but it can't be too small so that completionists won't want it.
Almost like how Marvel Rivals has an exclusive PS5 skin.
I'm really looking forward to this but the only game I've beaten so far is YLAD and I'm 40 hours into Infinite Wealth. Still gotta hit Gaiden on ps plus, then this.
I think we're definitely seeing it in 2027, heck go ahead and release it January 31st. 30th anniversary, and they typically like to release these early in the year.
The price cut and the PC adapter turned it from "why would you waste money on this" to "wow this is incredible." Lots of cool features and it works pretty much plug and play on PC.
@somnambulance I read somewhere that without including DLC, its ~110 characters not including forms/transformations. Now, I don't know if that's saying there is one Goku counted, or if it is a couple Gokus, like Z, Super, and Ultra Instinct counted as three because they can't transform into each other.
Wow, Gaiden AND Ragnarok?? Dang I was gonna cancel this month if the Extra games sucked but never mind. Haven't played a GOW game but Ragnarok definitely looks interesting. Still need to beat Infinite Wealth but I skipped Gaiden. Little disappointed that there's no PSVR2 in Premium but oh well
I'm not entirely sure on the specs, but even though I know the PS5 is more than capable of PS3 emulation, Sony COULD make actual PS3 emulation an exclusive PS5 Pro feature. That extra oomf might make it easier to run and offers a needed actual reason to purchase one.
Continuing the Hard mode run of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the 30th Pro, probably with a little bit of Stellar Blade or Persona 4 Golden on the Steam Deck Oled in there.
I'm gonna stick with all my 30th Anniversary stuff but the black earbuds look pretty cool. Definitely not worth $200 though, I picked up my pair for $120.
I think that PCs actually get too much hate regarding simplicity and price. I've never had to "tweak" much of anything with my games, just install on Steam and play, occasionally I need a mod or a patch for 32:9 resolution but that's different. And right now you can get a prebuilt PC with about the same power of a PS5 Pro for a little over $1,000, yes it's more money but it's upgradable and can be used for work/school.
I don't personally think we'll see a PS7, the PS5 Pro is dipping its toes in 8k so I think we'll see that more prominently in the PS6, but at that point the budgets for these games is going to go into the billions and the TVs will cost thousands.
If anything, I think the PS6 will feature upgradable parts, essentially making it a PC in a way. But now that Sony has gone and put pretty much all their PS exclusives on PC, they've definitely lost a large chunk of console supporters in exchange for sales of software on PC.
It's very funny to me that these things were in stock pretty much everywhere with the release of the PS5 Slim, but the moment the Pro was announced to not include one, they sold out instantly.
I love my 30th Portal but for me it's like buying a $200 mp3 player.
Yes it plays your music good but you need a constant internet connection to your $500-$800 music box, or you need to pay a $160 yearly subscription to stream the greatest songs of four years ago without the $500 box. It also doesn't have bluetooth and you need to spend $200 again on earbuds that work wirelessly.
Oh and your phone can do the exact same thing with an app.
Imma be honest, even with all the content and stuff I preferred the first Like a Dragon (7). The bonds and stories between the characters felt real and likable, now they separated the cast and made Ichiban and Saeko less likable.
I'm surprised that this even made the list at all, let alone third place of all things (4 spots ahead of Rebirth)
I think the PS6 will be the last true "console" generation we'll see, from Sony and Microsoft at least.
The PS5 Pro does 4k 60/120 fps and even pushes 8k 30/60 fps, depending on the game. If we see a graphical jump even higher than this, without the base PS5 to hold it back, the level of power and detail will just become unsustainable for game devs to truly maximize while also not dumping hundreds of millions, if not billions of dollars into a single game.
I think my 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro is going to stay relevant for a LONG time
Jeez, just how many updates did this game get already? There was that summer update, the boss update, the Nier DLC, now a Christmas update. Gotta play it sometime soon
Debating between PC or PS5 Pro on this as my only headset is the psvr2, if they've got eye tracking or cool adaptive rigger stuff I'll probably go with the PS5 version
Dang, I haven't even gotten my 30th Pro set up yet and it's already got a PC port.
On the site it mentions how the team is optimizing the game for Steam Deck which is INSANE. Rebirth barely runs on a base PS5, and Remake barely holds 30 on the Deck. If they can seriously release Rebirth in a fully playable, 150+ gb state on the Deck then I might disappear for weeks.
Haven't gotten around to 16 yet as I'm still playing through the pixel remasters, but this is pretty sick. Honestly "cooler" than Tifa though I can't say I prefer him over her.
I'd rather have one big "real" level than 5 speedrun levels. They were cool to play once a week, but there was just no exploration.
I'm guessing this is where we'll see some of the other rumored bots, but it sucks that the wording here is that this is the last Astro Bot update and we still don't have any Final Fantasy/Nier/Kingdom Hearts characters.
I'm guessing that this update's been planned out since before the game's launch, and that we might see some more later on if the game really did exceed Sony's expectations.
Good changes, not many buffs but it looks pretty good all around. I loved using the All I Need is Five Seconds so that's a cool buff to see.
Easily the best thing here though is more stages in local versus, really changes the game. I'm on PC so I've got a mod for it (and a 32:9 monitor to boot) but it'll be nice to have it natively implemented by the devs.
@Flaming_Kaiser I just commented about it right after you lol but Squenix completely "rereleased" (updated) Chocobo GP to include all the content without micro-transactions, including Cloud who was famously Season 1 Pass exclusive and really difficult to unlock. Great music, great gameplay, cool FF representation, easily worth the $20 whenever it goes on sale.
@PuppetMaster Tbf, nowadays Chocobo GP is actually a decent pick up for Final Fantasy fans. They added back in all the content (even Cloud, who was Season 1 "exclusive") that can easily be unlocked just by playing and removed all the micro-transactions. It's got a ton of really good arrangements from older FF titles, the gameplay obviously isn't Mario Kart level but it's got lots of polish and Final Fantasy charm.
My only complaint is that it's a little "kiddy" and it lacks more modern FF representation but if you like old Final Fantasy and Mario Kart it's a seriously great buy at $20 on sale.
Yeah it's definitely Tifa. I don't think there's ever been a guest fighting game character that's so universally agreed upon that has to be in the game.
If anyone can back me up on this it'd be appreciated, but I could've SWORE that FF7 Rebirth wasn't in the Best Soundtrack or Best Story category, and now it is. Even in story, it's at the bottom of the list even though they're all in alphabetical order.
It'd be pretty funny if Rebirth got so many write-ins that they added it to the nominations for some of the categories.
My 30th Anniversary Portal gets here soon and I'm looking forward to using it, but I'm not exactly sure why I wouldn't just stream the games of my PS5 instead. I mean I get the reasons, but they certainly don't outweigh the fact that I'd rather the games just be played on my PS5, then streamed.
I'm looking forward to my 30th Pro. The difference in FF7 Rebirth is noticeable even on a small phone screen. Cannot wait to see how big the glowup is on my 4K tv.
I got lucky and I've got my 30th Pro and 30th Portal on the way, and you bet I'm gonna crack that thing open and play Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for days
@Max_the_German Ugh It's "only" an extra $200 but a whole grand at least would've been about MSRP considering it comes with an edge controller, plus the disc drive. Oh well
Is it bad that I had little to no interest in the PS5 Pro before this but now I want one? Really sick and the PS4 20th is still crazy expensive. Betting $1,000 but I won't pay any more than that.
No disc drive at a $700 price point is insanity, and there's not even an option to buy one with the console. All of my favorite PS5 games are physical discs and you're telling me I can't play them??
Rather ironic that the subtitle is Mango Sentinel when the iconic color was actually modded into the game and isn't included in this release (though it was included in UMVC3).
