Re: PS Portal Will Allow Cloud Streaming in New Beta Update

Gator_Rican

I would've gotten a portal had it not been for the fact that every time I turned it on to 'remote play' my PS5 would turn my TV/monitor on. The PS4 (on remote play iOS app) did not do this even if HDMI-CEC was on - which I will not be turning off. The PS5 needs a code update whereby it knows it is remote playing and not send an HDMI-out signal.

Re: Metro Awakening Will Be a Reason to Own PSVR2 This Holiday

I'm probably in the minority here. I have a PSVR2. If I could use the DualSense controller instead of the PSVR2 Sense controllers with most games, I would use the headset a lot more. That's how I play GT7. The idea of having to 'learn' new controllers/buttons and needing the arm space for them - puts me off (looking at you RE Village). Just give me the option (I'm sure it's harder to give me that option than I think).

Re: Stealth Issues Still the Focus of Star Wars Outlaws PS5 Patches

70 hrs in - could be my SW fan bias, but this game got a bad rap from the get-go and IMO is a bit over the top. No other game captures the SW feeling like Outlaws. Yes, the stealth could be better. Yes, the combat could be better. But the planets, the vistas, the towns all of it just oozes SW-love and for that it's an 8 for me. A mini-map would be much welcomed.

Re: Hardware Review: PS Portal Is the Perfect PS5 Companion (For Some)

Gator_Rican

Haven't read the article, but please answer me this - Currently when I play remotely via my iPad, when I turn my PS5 on remotely, my monitor on my desk also turns on and mirrors my iPad screen. This never happened when I played remotely on my PS4. So, if I'm using the Portal remotely, will my monitor also come on? This is a deal breaker for me and I'm not going to disable CEC-HDMI for it.

Re: PS5, PS4 Remote Play Now Enabled for More Android Devices

Gator_Rican

Just tried remote play on Remote Play app on my iPad - GoW Rag. Playable? Yes. Smooth? No. Enjoyable? Not really due to lag. PS5 is not hardwired, but I do have Fiber 1G speeds.

Interestingly enough, when I remote play, my PS5 turns on my monitor and anyone can see what I'm playing live on the monitor (for me this is a deal breaker). The PS4 did not used to do this (it 'knew' when remote playing to disable HDMI signal). Quick search seems to reveal is a Sony 'error/afterthought'.

Re: Fortnite Is Now Officially an Olympic eSport

@GamingFan4Lyf I feel ya. However, I'd argue (and I've told my kids this) - once you do something for work/money things begin to change. For me personally it would turn it from an enjoyable hobby to a must do chore to put food on the table. But yeah, I can see those who have a job so fun and fulfilling that it doesn't feel like a job/work. In my 45 years on this planet, I've found that latter group to be the large minority. However, I haven't traveled much, so perhaps I'm wrong.

Re: Just an FYI, PS5 VRR Doesn't Work on PS4 Games

Gator_Rican

Please enlighten me. Seems like SONY purposely made the HDMI 2.1 requirement for VRR in order to sell more TVs. To my knowledge VRR does not require HDMI 2.1 and I've read the XSX actually functions well on HDMI 2.0 w/ VRR. My monitor is 2.0 and as such VRR on my PS5 is greyed out.
