Re: Poll: What Do You Expect from Retro PlayStation Games on PS5, PS4?

FatallyYours117

Why would we get trophies?
Sony don't make the trophy lists, the dev's do?

I very much doubt that games upto nearly 30 years old are getting looked at by individual devs, some who may not be even around now, or as they were known then, on engines that havnt been used in god knows how long, on an emulator thats private to sony, and will stay private for as long as possible to stop home brewers an easy way to backhack into the ps5

The devs would have to go through so many hoops, IF they are still around as devs, ask Sony nicely to allow them to use their emulator to hack back into old code or roms, then arbitrarily put trophies into random places into games, then play test that game to make sure the new code and systems isn't messing anything up, providing that rom back to sony to certify, patching and ongoing support for anything that a very, very small team of testers didn't get round too ....for each old game...? That would potentially take months and months, per game, per dev

Or, sony just use the roms that are readily available and are known to be working, complete, stable, relatively bug free, for years and years, on their emulator, and call it a day

Re: Sony Ships Secret PlayStation Console Prototypes Overseas

FatallyYours117

@Dubbicakes OK, do you know how I know this isn't a pro or slim model, it's simple and logical.
Remember way back ago, around 2/3 years ago, when we first got leaks of the ps5 faceplate, and then Chinese factories producing the consoles, we had a bunch of "insiders" claiming things, the rumor mill started up. It was a hive of activity and information on a highly prized and wanted electronic device.

Where are the pretend insiders, the leaks design documents, the blurry factory photos? No rumours. No news. Because it isn't happening. The pretend insiders are still just about arguing whether there's going to be a state if play in the near future, and because a few boxes of presumably psvr2 dev kits have been sent for testing and distribution in America, some people have jumped to the conclusion that its a pro or slim model, when there is nothing backing that up. At all. The psvr2 connection is at least remotely possible as there is eventualy some info and traction around that product, so they will be sending test versions out to various people around the world. We knew that psvr2 was a thing, we had info, we had design mock ups, we had leaked photos of various icons and packaging for ages, so that could possibly be tied to this, at a stretch. Most likely it's dev kits.

The pro and slim are not in development. Planning? Possibly. On paper and a few technicians heads. If the rumours start mounting up, and dodgy evidence starts popping up and points to things in that direction, I'll believe the possibility. Until then, they are having enough issues getting the base versions of PS5's being made, in a post covid world, current war setting Europe, and price hikes across the board.

Imagine splitting up your player base even further, with a product that can barely be made? It's laughable

Re: Sony Ships Secret PlayStation Console Prototypes Overseas

FatallyYours117

@Dubbicakes there is no way a pro and a ps6 is "well into development" 😂

And the pro and slim models of ps4 or ps3 happened during a time of plenty and of excess. We are in a total gridlock for certain tech right now, let alone a worldwide major pandemic and now a major conflict in the centre of Europe, driving prices of everything upwards

Re: Sony Ships Secret PlayStation Console Prototypes Overseas

FatallyYours117

@sanderson72 there is no way, everyone is waiting on certain chips, but Sony will not have just sat around waiting for them to turn up, they will be making the shells and the rest of the innards for the standard ps5 ready for the missing parts. They will have warehouses full of them that they'll want to shift before they change the design of the playstation. Internal revisions will happen constantly. Major redesigns and "pro" consoles will not happen for years if at all. The ps5 has been out for just over a year and it can't get to retail stores, they are not going to bother trying to figure out slim or pro versions to ship around the world during a pandemic, a war and a chip shortage

Re: No Auto Trophies for Cyberpunk 2077 Owners Switching from PS4 to PS5

FatallyYours117

@TBubs311 I'm also getting major drift in the right stick. I've turned the dead zone settings up to max in settings and it's helped to minimise the issue by about 75%, but I've decided to drop the game again for another patch or two and go back to Farcry 6

As an edit, I do admit to probably destroying my controller a little though, my playstation roundup said I played for 2200 hours last year and I had the ps5 from launch, so it could just be on the way out

Re: Microsoft Says Call of Duty and Activision Games Will Keep Releasing on PlayStation Beyond Current Deals

FatallyYours117

@Jaz007 Microsoft obviously feel they can support the price of taking NEW Bethesda games from other systems at a relatively low $7billion, whilst still supporting current games like FO76 still slowly bringing in money from everywhere and rereleasing skyrim every other year, that's their call if they want to do that. MS would swallow the potential loss easily for Bethesda games not being multi plat

ActBliz is a much larger and expensive purchase (though very, very, very over priced for what they are actually getting), that they need to make money from ASAP. They know gamepass doesn't make enough money, there isn't enough xboxs' to support exclusivity for CoD (and likely never will be), and legally, Sony would have had years worth of negotiated contracts for CoD, where they probably didn't care enough to bother with future Bethesda games, either assuming Bethesda would come to Sony asking to be on PS4/5, or Sony would do a game to game deal with them at time of release. That's sony's issue

It's just logical and obvious. You buy something as a company, you want to see a return on it, as quickly and safely as possible. Without paying A LOT for canceling contracts or losing the ensuing court cases, on top of a massive acquisition, losing a massive base for your owned product, and having the inferior amount of consoles out in the world, this all adds up to putting CoD on playstation

Re: Microsoft Says Call of Duty and Activision Games Will Keep Releasing on PlayStation Beyond Current Deals

FatallyYours117

It's strange that anyone thought otherwise to be fair?

CoD makes money, stick it everywhere and reap the rewards
Microsoft does not have the desired amount of Xboxs' out to make it viable to have it exclusive

Anyone who doom posted about it was over reacting to a non story about MS over paying for a list that mainly included dead IP or PC/mobile only games

Re: Call of Duty Will Seemingly Continue to Release on PS5, PS4 Through 2023

FatallyYours117

Can we all calm down with the speculation now then please?
It was pretty obvious that any and all Activision/Blizzard games will be on PS4&5 for the next few years. Why? As reported almost everywhere, chip shortages are still rife, meaning MS won't be able to get xbox's out to the masses, so needs to sell games everywhere to make money from this purchase, that and the existing contracts already in place that are legally binding anyway
Once MS feels happy with the amount of xboxes out in the world, then it may possibly make some changes, but we're talking 2 years minimum

FatallyYours117

@Alan_cartridge_
If you're paying 70 quid for a game then you are doing it wrong. Even if you're stuck on a digital only console, there is ALWAYS deals on credit, that brings prices down to, or less than £60

Ps plus is more expensive for less content? They are both £49.99?? But again, if you're paying more than ~£30 for PS+ then you are not shopping around. Content wise;

Sony ps plus total for 2021: $1,424.60
Average score: 73.8
Average MSRP: $35.62
Average age: 1.4 years
5 self published games + 3 day 1 releases

Microsoft gwg total $1,074.51
Average score: 73
Average MSRP: $21.93
Average age: 7.13 years
3 self published games

Re: These Are the Franchises PS5, PS4 May Lose to Activision Blizzard Buyout

FatallyYours117

I understand that people are upset about this, but there are some silly statements are being thrown about without really thinking about things. Clickbait titles and random statements dont help anyone, will only lead to fanboy-ism and extreme views/opinions

For example, how will sony will lose access to candy crush, a mobile game? Will Microsoft somehow stop Sony (and apple!) phones from installing Candy Crush?
World of warcraft, a PC game, not allowed on all of the Sony laptops/computers specifically?

Can we calm down with the "fake" news and think things out with logic?

Re: PS5, PS4 Users Are Still the Biggest W*nkers in Gaming

FatallyYours117

@WallyWest a few reasons I guess, because of porn access probably, and, don't quote me, but isn't the browser a weak point for security? Reverse engineering back into the console to open it up for piracy and emulators. I used it a bit briefly as on the ps5 you can pin it to one side as you're playing, I think I had a a walk through for a specific part of some game up? Or YouTube? Something like that

Re: Mini Review: Terminator: Resistance Annihilation Line (PS5) – Mediocre Future Fighting Is Still One for the Fans

FatallyYours117

@fR_eeBritney I understand that some games get a pass, even if I hate it, but games websites are either producing paid for reviews, or are trying to keep the developers on their good side. But that's usually AAA Dev's/games

The first paragraph of this review is just....made up or wrong??

"Glorified bit of fan service", this was an ambitious, fully LICENSED project from an almost indie dev, that seems to nail the look, sound and feel of the original terminator films from what I can tell. I wouldn't say it's fan service at all. Was alien isolation glorified fan service? The Spider-Man games and marvel games? I'd like to know what metric this reviewer is using to determine this

"Hampered by lack of time and money" is just wrong. There was plenty of time and money (for an indie Dev). They made a PS5 version on top of the initial release for both Xbox and PS4, and a PC port, taking both time and money, they delayed the enhanced edition to make sure it was polished, they added a free mode, again presumably costing time and money, and lastly, what this review is based on, a fully fleshed out, unannounced at initial release, DLC, again, costing the Dev time and money....

"it left a lot to be desired compared to other blockbuster single player first-person shooters on the block" where on the entire internet does the Dev say this was a AAA fps that wants to go up against the likes of CoD, BF, Halo, Doom?? That's an unfair and untrue statement. It's not a blockbuster game. The reviewer even goes on to say it's a B-movie, campy type shooter. That's completely different from a blockbuster AAA fps developed by thousands of people, with nearly unlimited money and the best tools available on the planet, backed by powerful, recognisable publishers with marketing

That fist paragraph is just terrible to be honest. Then marking the game down for being too-terminator-like. Very reminiscent of IGN marking down that Pokémon game based on islands and water, for having too much water

Re: Mini Review: Terminator: Resistance Annihilation Line (PS5) – Mediocre Future Fighting Is Still One for the Fans

FatallyYours117

"Not much here for non-Terminator fans"
I don't understand this as part of the review or score?

A terminator DLC for a terminator game, gets marked down because people who don't like the terminator won't like the fact its based around the terminator films?

Is this going to continue with other reviews? The new AC dlc next year for example, if you don't like AC, vikings or viking mythology, you won't find it interesting so best knock a point or two off? How about the next Cod? People who don't like CoD won't like the next CoD because its still CoD, not a perfect game then I suppose?

Re: Cities: Skylines Airports DLC Pack Touches Down on PS4 in January

FatallyYours117

I love Cities skylines, I just wish that they allowed you to build any sized road from the get go (in normal play, sandbox mode you can do from what I remember, but trophies are disabled). Thousands of cars and trucks coming off the highway/freeway into a small one lane road causes havoc, and I end up demolishing half the city once I've got full roads and starting from scratch with a decent road system

Oh, also I wish they had in game settings to let me dim the HUD, it's a constant burn in scare

The music is awesome, and I love the stellaris track that they added lyrics too. Wish they had version in stellaris.

Does this play better on the PS5 does anyone know, it got a bit laggy if you had a massive city towards the end on my PS4pro?

Re: Mobster XCOM Empire of Sin Makes It Count with Massive Content Drop

FatallyYours117

@FuriousMachine thats one thing that annoyed me about xcom haha, they were super soldiers with all these augmentations and still couldn't hit a thing half the time! And save scumming with the loading screens wasn't worth it half the time!! I still loved it though, just infuriating.

EoS has the same issue to begin with, the early ranged weapons are terrible with RNG, you're better off playing close range and be aggressive, sub machine guns and shotguns are my go to. Shotguns are OK for mid range fighting too. Once you have enough money and fame mid game, you can hire much better gangsters with amazing rifles and sniper rifles, and where as they do miss sometimes, I feel its much fairer than xcom, plus if you're role-playing a bit, I guess these are all normal guys who have just picked up guns, they are bound to miss occasionally with no future tech military training!

Re: Mobster XCOM Empire of Sin Makes It Count with Massive Content Drop

FatallyYours117

@TeapotBuddha I'm a big fan of most paradox games, so I bought it day one, even with the mixed reviews, and the game did deserve those reviews. I'm not sugar coating it, the game was buggy and broke in some ways, but I still enjoyed it. I know that I'm going to get stupid amounts of gameplay hours from paradox games, so it's always worth the price.

The new free update massively helps the base game, and the dlc adds more ways to win, more things to build, new boss and new gangsters. Overall just a much better game now then when it arrived. If you can get it on a sale, and like xcom fighting with lite empire building, it's worth a go, but like said, after a hour or so with the game, start manually saving before anything important, I assume there is a memory leak bug somewhere in the game, the longer you play, the more things you load into and then out of, the more likely it is that the game will crash and load to the ps5/ps4 home screen

Re: Mobster XCOM Empire of Sin Makes It Count with Massive Content Drop

FatallyYours117

@Deadhunter @Flurpsel
It's better, but CAN still hard crash after ~2hrs or so, or after a big change, like taking over other gangsters empires, I've started to manually save before I do anything that requires a loading screen

Bug wise, they've squashed a load, but there are still some

But, its a better game with the free update, and the dlc. Adding different
ways to make money, using your money for diplomatic actions, much easier to look after your empire with the precinct
and neighborhood views. Just get into a routine of saving manually

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Your PS Plus Games for October 2021?

FatallyYours117

@Martsmall wait... Are you going off this comment...
"To that end, this is what Game Pass is helping to grow, and as a result, Spencer says Xbox as a business is profitable"

You are reading that as "Spencer says Xbox as a business is profitable" not "gamepass is profitable" ?? Surely. It's in black and white. I'm not distorting that quote. It's there on the page. You understand that right?

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Your PS Plus Games for October 2021?

FatallyYours117

@Martsmall so using your example of farcry 6 then, on my ps5 the price is £59.99, checking the store in Xbox for the series X version, £59.99. next fact?

I've also checked that link, thanks, quickly reading through, not a single mention in the text of gamepass or profitability. I can check out the actual 1 hour long podcast gladly, but I'd want to be shouting from the rooftops that gamepass was profitable...strange how there is nothing about it in the article

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Your PS Plus Games for October 2021?

FatallyYours117

@Martsmall you get free upgrades to the new Xbox consoles, so like most cross gen PS4/5 games then?
And yes, the prices have gone up. I have just looked now on the Xbox store, for FIFA and Battlefield. Guess what, they are not £40

You started by stating, and I quote directly from your post "I'm not arguing I'm stating facts", and instantly I pointed out that Xbox has tried to change the price of things just in the last year... Your opinions are not facts.

I'd love to see the Phil spencer interview about how gamepass is profitable too, if you could link that to me please.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Your PS Plus Games for October 2021?

FatallyYours117

@Martsmall Do you not remember that just this year, Xbox were going to DOUBLE the price of Xbox live? That was a massive change. The only reason they didn't get away with it, massive outcry. So much so that they changed their policy and allowed certain features to be used for free online and not require Xbox live to spin the news cycle the other way

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Your PS Plus Games for October 2021?

FatallyYours117

@Olmaz
Your link does not work for me, https://www.reddit.com/r/PlayStationPlus/wiki/list/fulleu/ works fairly well though. That shows the difference In Euro up until the offerings aligned with US, but the US list is conveniently linked there
Firstly, yes the euro hasn't done as well as the $, I used it as an example. I'm happy to use €. I find it converts to €57.10 from 2010, but a few pence doesn't matter from your figure. So you are right, there is a discrepancy of €2.90. I concede that point to you. You are worse off by nearly €3. Thankfully most of Europe's pay rate in the last 11 years has also gone up at some stage to cover at least €3

The base price is RRP. Recommended. If Sony can get away with selling it at that price, it will. Like every other company under the sun. It is not dishonest, it is business. If you don't want to shop around for the same item at a lower price, that is your choice. If I search for Returnal on pricespy (for example) I get a range of prices from a range of sellers. Why wouldn't I choose the cheapest price for the same item? If I buy directly from Sony for their price, that is my bad choice. This has been the way of commerce for as long as commerce has been around? It's not something I just made up for this example

I am happy to think of the discounted price of games, they often go on sale I am sure throughout thier lifecycles, but even a decent discount of 75%, is still more than €0.00 when it lands on PS+. Even if I pretended to think that every game this year so far on PS+ has gone down in price by 75% at some stage (it hasnt), that price TOTAL, still far exceeds the price of PS+

like most of us, nostalgia and looking back through rose tinted glasses has skewed our perspective of how good the games were "back then". Looking at the list now, there is as much, if not more shovelware given away then, than there is now. Not forgetting that "back then" you had to have access to a PS3, PSP and a PS Vita (and eventually a PS4) to take advantage of having every single game on PS+. Where as now you only need 2 concoles. Some of the games back then were cross playable, but ALL games now on PS+ are cross playable between PS4 & 5. Going off your original point, if you are not happy with this year's selection, there is no way you were playing 100% of the games every month on 3/4 pieces of hardware in 2011/14

The reason we sometimes got 4-6 games a month is because they spread it across 3 or 4 consoles. So giving 5 terrible games away and 1 AAA game doesn't make the other 5 magically better all of a sudden.

If the loyal Sony users were happy to pay for PS+, how are they being coerced? IF they were unhappy, don't pay. For the loyal sony customers though, again, I fall back to getting much cheaper deals on PS+ than the RRP

Sony could give away 6 terrible games a month like it used to with PS+ in the early 2010's. The issue is Sony has a figure in their head as to how much they are willing to give away. Lets say is €50 a month. If you want 6 games, we get 6 terrible games that come to €50. Whereas we actually get 2 or 3 better games (whether you like the games is your taste) that equal around €50. I'd easily take the 2 games I can play on my 1 console in 2021, than having 6 games in 2014 where I had to own 4 consoles and got dubious games

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Your PS Plus Games for October 2021?

FatallyYours117

@Olmaz
I don't really understand your argument.
PS+ being $49.99 in 2010 = $62.72 in today's money, so in fact you're getting PS+ cheaper than what it is worth if going off 2010 values. Also, you should not be paying full price for PS+. At ANY time during the year there is some sort of discount on PS+, but the best deals are usually around black Friday, making the price even cheaper

Just this year, the price of Control OR Final Fantasy VII just about covers the price of PS+

But on top of that you've had, Maneater, Greedfall (free upgrade to PS5), Tomb Raider (with a ps5 patch), Destruction All Stars (day 1 free game), concrete genie, Marquette (day 1 free game), remnant from the ashes, Oddworld (day 1 free game), Days gone, Zombie army 4 (with os5 patch), wreckfest, Battlefield 5, Stranded Deep, Operation Tango (day 1 free game), Starwars Squadrons, Virtuafighter V (day 1 free game), Plague Tale (day 1 free game), CoD game, WWE game, Hunters arena legends (day 1 free game), Plants v Zombies, Tennis game, overcooked collection, predator game, Hitman 2 (free upgrade using HM3 demo)

Just one or two of those games would cover a $35/40 PS+ price, which is what you should be paying if taking advantage of PS+ sales and discounts. Not every game there is to my tastes, but there is a whole range of genres, exclusives, first party, AAA games in there, you just need to cherry pick a few and there's your PS+ price covered, then there is the extra discounts and free packs for games

Re: Police Raid Ukraine Warehouse Filled with 3,800 PS4 Consoles

FatallyYours117

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi It's not about the police stopping the farming of games, it's about proceeds of crime.
This activity generates money. Which in turn goes to find other criminal acts, big or small.
The police were likely not searching for playstations, they were following the money trail for something else or bigger, and came upon this warehouse. They want to make sure they crime doesn't pay, so they shut down any avenue they can that generates money for the group.
