Lot's of articles around SE the last day, but I think most are missing the mark. Development costs have gone way up in the last 20 years and yet game prices haven't kept up. The end result is that AAA games don't get the return that they used to, and they are no longer going to be worth it. Expect SE to continue with Final Fantasy as their passion project, but other AAA entries will be axed. SE will shift to multiplatform smaller budget games going forward.
This really isn't going to be unique to SE though. Expect the entire industry to shift in that direction. AAA games are going to go out of style and become few and far between.
I don't trust Square/Enix that it will be a quality product. I bought some mugs from them that were a bit expensive but I thought would be great long term. They turned out to be plastic, not dishwasher safe, and can't have hot liquids in them. All that while costing 5x more than a typical ceramic mug.
I couldn't wait, ended up importing EDF 6 a year ago. Logged 200+ hours and beat it on Inferno, but wish I hadn't so that I could play it again with the western release. Great game!
Buggy, and poorly designed both physically and in the UI. On the UI side the landing page is filled with ads (same with Xbox), navigation takes too many steps, and DLC management between accounts on the same console is poorly implemented. Physically the white plates on the console make the console larger than necessary, but also block access to the disc drive when laid horizontally. Using two controllers on the same PS5 is still buggy where if you turn on both controllers while the console is off the console will pull up the account selection for the first controller, but never the second. On shutting down the console with two players sometimes one of the controllers won't get the shut down command, and will turn the console back on. Just a few of the design issues, but there's more.
Games wise it's a mixed bag. The exclusives have been great, I just wish they weren't exclusive.
I couldn't wait for the Western release. Been playing it for the last 9 months, and finally just finished inferno. To those that haven't played the game yet, it's definitely worth playing.
As for framerate, it's solid. I think there were just 2 missions where I noticed some slowdown on split screen co op. Much better than past games.
Yes, monsters level up with you on a 1 to 1 ratio. This means no matter how much you level up you never get stronger. Levels are meaningless outside of giving skill/paragon points. A monster takes 6 basic hits to kill at level 1, and that exact same monster still takes 6 hits to kill at level 50. This along with a number of other similar design issues make this game very boring to me. It needs a full difficulty and system overhaul to become a better game.
I'll never be ok with these weird big head small body facial models, but they look fine when the helmets are on. Looking forward to this game. Hopefully it will be close enough to Blitz the League. I miss that series so much...
Unfortunately D4 is boring, and they would need to reset all character progression to fix it. The top 5 issues are 1) Difficutly is too easy. Even starting at world tier 2 the game is a complete breeze. Instead of being cautious in each battle you just press a button until everything is beaten, then do it again a few steps later. No challenge = Boring. 2) Monsters level with you, making leveling up pointless. At level 5 it takes 6 basic hits to defeat a monster, and at level 50 it still takes 6 hits. There is no progression at all. 3) Stat values are too high and jump too much with each level, which makes the smaller stat increases from weapons/armor worthless. 4) Too many attributes. When you have distant damage, near damage, cold, fire, dark, poison, knockdown, etc.. you end up with most drops being for things you don't want. Just a lot of trash that you have to sift through 5) The amount of drops are way way too high. Go through one dungeon and your inventory becomes full of 'Rare' equipment that isn't rare at all. Combine that with the amount of attributes and you are doing trash clearing inventory work every half hour.
One of the best shows ever made. Drummer is possibly the best character too, and that's saying something as all of the characters in that show are amazing. I would love for them to make a non-canon spin off of Drummer and Klaes Ashford bounty hunting around the universe.

Re: Final Fantasy 16 Patch 1.31 Brings Big Damage Buffs for Clive, Better Side Quests, and Much More
Great list to an already great game. Makes me want to start up a new FF playthrough.

Re: A Final Fantasy 6 Remake Would Take 20 Years to Make, Says Square Enix Producer
Well, better get to it then. FF6 is possibly the greatest game ever made. A remake could be even better.
