Well said sir. There's nothing wrong with a remake. There's thousands of games out there and plenty for anyone seeking good entertainment. There's also a whole generation of gamers that started gaming over the last ten years that never got a chance to play some of the classic titles. As the technology changes I enjoy the occasional remake like RE 2 & 3. And for those that don't like it, play something else and stop complaining. It makes you look spoilt.
I think a game inspired by IT or Stranger Things would be interesting. Playing as kids or young teens against some monster that the adults don't believe in could add some scary stakes.
@PegasusActual93 The load times are dramatically faster too. I couldn't play Metro Exodus on the PS4. The load times were atrocious. It's a different story on the PS5. Huge difference to me. Same with Shadow of the Tomb Raider, NMS, ESO, KOA: ReReckoning etc. All of the free upgrades made a huge difference to me.
After playing through it 3 times, the game never ceases to bring a tear to my eye. I highly recomend it to anyone who hasn't played it yet. It can ben beaten in just a few hours, so give it a go for those who are on the fence.
I loved the game. It had some of the most memorable side quests of any rpg in recent memory. The ps4 version was rough, but the PS5 version fixed just about everything. So, I will happily purchase the expansion when it comes out.
I'm not opposed to playing it again someday, but I never felt the need to revisit it after playing it on the PS3. And for now, I have so many other things to play that Last of Us is not a priority. But I am happy for those who are enjoying it. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
I hope some of the developers of PSVR games either offer free PS5 upgrades to some current PS4 VR games and/or reasonably priced upgrades. It would help give the gamer more choices early in PSVR 2 release window when there are traditionaly a limited amount of games to choose from. And it would also be great for gamers new to VR to get a chance to play Walking Dead Saints and Sinners, Resident Evil 7, No Man's Sky etc. Either way I am pumped for PSVR2.
Finishing up House of Ashes PS5--so far the best Dark Anthology Pictures game I've played.
Persona 5 Royal--absolute masterpiece. (My first persona game)
My friend persuaded me to get Red Dead Redemption 2, and so far I am really impressed. The single player game starts out a bit slow paced, but the immersion factor is amazing. I have been having a blast terrorizing the West in multiplayer.
I sincerely hope everyone (especially the folks at pushsquare) has a safe and wonderful weekend.
I just bought PS5R this summer and am about 40 hrs in, so I have no interest in upgrading unless it's small upgrade fee. The game is brilliant as it is.
I'm a big fan of this game. It's so much better now that the developers have had time to make it more like Elders Scrolls and less like WOW. Some of the story lines are epic ( like year of the dragon) and the best part is you can play the majority of the game solo. It's pretty daunting if you're brand new, but there's plenty of online guides out there to walk you through it. I'm excited for the new card game too. It's a welcome addition.
As some have said I don't get the harsh reaction over live service games. Maybe it's because a lot of people do not like fortnite and associate live service games with that. But GTA V, ESO, and even No Man's Sky all have dedicated followings and are good games. I recently got sucked into ESO and there's literally hundreds of hours of content that comes with the base game. I like how No Man's Sky doesn't charge for anything and just keeps releasing content. That's live service done right.
I'm not concerned yet. If Sony is no longer the industry leader, that doesn't necessarily affect my gaming habits. It's not as if Sony is disappearing.
When the Wii U was a niche console, I still owned it and enjoyed it for what it was, and Nintendo bounced back. Microsoft may have won the round, but the fight is far from over.
I own a few of these, but it's still a fantastic month. I'm excited to finally play the persistence. People whining about this being a poor selection because it doesn't apply to them is the epitome of solipsism.
I haven't left on a comment on here in at least three years. But bravo on this review. So many gamers think having good graphics, sound and story make a good game. Game design, synthesis and gameplay are the most important elements of a good game, and I would say most gamers do not understand this. This site does a better job than most in understanding that when it reviews games and gets a lot of undo hate for it. And by any objective metric this is a mediocre game. This review is spot on and exactly almost word for word how I feel about Alan Wake. Thank you Mr. McCormick.
Trump card? "a return to slavery, a resurgence of the KKK, and Nazis colonising space. Parts feel like pure fantasy, while others, not so much." WTF? There is no resurgence of the KKK and no return to slavery on any level here in the USA. Where's the evidence of this besides hysterical SJW journalists who just can't accept that they lost the election?
So, SJW's have converged here too. It's hard to escape the hysterical propagandists these days. The only answer to it is to boycott the site. Been coming here for years. I'm never coming back.
This may be a bit late, but here it goes. Just bought this on Amazon for $6 after owning the PS3 and Vita editions. I love this game and look forward to double dipping. I disagree with this review entirely. Since this has been out for a while and no one is likely to read this, I won't go point by point. It's my favorite top down shooter of all time, and the replay value is high, because you never have enough funds to buy and/or upgrade all of the weapons, making multiple play throughs not only fun, but very different experiences.
My ex girlfriend wasn't into games, but she liked watching me play the GoT game, because it reminded her of the show and I let her help me make the decisions, which made her feel involved. I enjoyed the game on the PS3, but it ran terribly, especially in the last chapter, borderline unplayable. So, I am looking forward to playing the PS4 version, which I've heard runs much better.
@Fight_Teza_Fight Sony's on one hell of a run right now. The PS3 got a lot of flack in the beginning, but it came through in the end as my favorite Sony system, which is being outdone by the PS4. I too believe the PS4 has a lot of life left in it. I'm completely satisfied with this generation--with the inclusion of the awesome Switch, I'm in no rush to move on to a new system--let the good times roll.
Super excited for this. I'm currently going through the game right now and I love everything about this game: the graphics, the abilities, the setting, the weapons, multi-player, loot and more than anything the numerous easter eggs.
While the formula is growing stale I didn't think this season was as bad as some are making it out to be. Clem being interested in that whiny kid isn't that unbelievable when you consider the fact that she missed out on her childhood completely and the fact that there aren't many kids her own age hanging around. Having a friend that's less mature could have made her feel young again.
My main problem with this series is that they kill off everyone and it doesn't serve any purpose for the story. Even the TV show has managed to keep some of the first season characters around, while the video game series only has Clementine, which makes forming connections with characters next to impossible. All that being said I was entertained with Season 3 for the most part. I like Javier as a protagonist. And I could relate with the dynamic of having a very difficult relationship with an angry brother.
@xMEADx LIS is worth a look. I think the gameplay and overall setup feels a lot fresher than the telltale games. Speaking for myself, I thought the story became very derivative later in the game, which left me a little underwhelmed, but that shouldn't stop anyone from giving it a go. One thing I like about telltale style games is that they play really well on the Vita using remote play. It's kind of fun for me to play them in my bed before I go to sleep. If you have access to remote play I would try playing it that way
@xMEADx Do you not generally like Telltale games or was it just Borderlands in particular? Because in my opinion Tales from Borderlands was the best of the bunch; it got so good as it progressed. So, if you didn't get very far, I would stick with it and at least complete episode 2 if you haven't already.
Looks interesting. I haven't played anything like this since Stardew Valley, so I am really feeling the itch. Games like this are a nice change of pace from guns, swords, mechs and magic spells.

@Hego I had the exact same problem, and I have not changed my internal drive. The update would not complete and kept restarting. I thought my system was corrupted, but I just kept trying and eventually the update completed.
