A new Persona 5 Royal trailer for the upcoming PS5 remaster has been published today as part of an Atlus livestream, but it doesn't bring us any closer to official confirmation of what this updated version actually has to boast about. Clips from the game are out in full force, yet there's little in the way of details concerning what it's packing under the hood ahead of release on 21st October 2022.

The silver lining here is the gameplay footage looks considerably smoother than the PS4 original, suggesting we've at least got a framerate boost to look forward to. The game already runs at a native 4K resolution on PS5 via backwards compatibility, so there's only so much that can be done in the graphics department anyway. That's not stopping Atlus from charging full price, however, and there won't be a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade.

Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden are also on their way to PS4, but we'll need to wait until next year to play those. Still, at least this new trailer reminds us just how much of a masterpiece Persona 5 Royal still is — we're itching for another playthrough, to be honest. Will you be committing some time at the end of 2022 to a replay of Persona 5 Royal on Sony's latest machine? Hope for more improvements in the comments below.
