@carlos82

I still have my vr2... I've played gt7 on it most days since launch. With my fanatec wheel, I've had a great time... so wouldnt call it wasted.

Other games I tried briefly were ok, but generally not good enough to make me want to sit there with a headset on. Particularly when I have massive of backlog of top tier pancake games to catchup on.

I bought meta 3 few months back. Much prefer the sharper/clearer lenses, I've started playing automobilista 2, and with vr and wheel... it puts gt7 to shame imo, for ffb, proper racing v AI, clarity, sound. It may not have career mode (not that gt7 truely does) but racing is so visceral and real, I can't see me returning to gt7... or vr2. Gt7 ai is shamefully still like moving bollards, and it detracts massively from feeling generated Imo. I'm not interested in racing online on any platform, for various reasons.

Not just meta games either, pretty much anything In steam that has vr... official or unofficial. Just feels like a totally different galaxy/stratosphere to what's on offer in vr2, which is a shame really. So ill likely be selling mine soon.

@lazarus11

Yes, may not be best example but im getting feeling (as someone who played kcd1 for 20 mins on ps5 for 20 mins couple of years back), that playing the first game before deciding to purchase the second, would be like playing witcher 1 as litmus test before buying the vastly superior an in many people's eyes 'must plays' witcher 3.

Whereas if question was should I play GOW 2018, to get insight into purchasing ragnorok...

**yes, I know some may say 'well, as it's now on ps plus...' but I'm sure you the idea of my point

Gt7 alone is worth it... for me.

I have a fanatec wheel setup, and tbh had drifted away, bored of gt7 until vr2 landed.

Pretty much since vr2 was released I've played gt7 everyday. It levels the game up a couple of tiers imo. Level of immersion, with a decent wheel is sublime.

Suddenly feels like you're using your real driving sense/perception. Used to hate Nordschleife, now I'm on it near enough every day. Trying out all the cars.

Difficult to explain how good it is, cocooned in your car, vr2, headphones, wheel setup. Spa 1 hour race in particular. Driving through the night, isolated, with darkness, rain, sounds all around you etc.

It's so so good. No longer feels like playing a game so much, but an experience.

I can't touch driving cars that aren't vr anymore. Tried a couple since, uninstalled them after giving them a quick try.

Barely touched any other vr game. I recently started re4. But very intermittent, as I tend to play gt7... along with a top tier pancake game. Completed rdr2 recently.

Must admit I find session on gt7 enough. Something slightly off-putting about wearing a headset fir hours a day. Nice laid out on couch playing on tv. Feels more relaxing, less arduous and feel less 'frazzled' after compared to vr games... silly as that may sound.

A lot of the catalogue doesn't appeal at all. Looks like a load of junk, that people entertain due lack of options and that I dont have inclination to want to try. I'd rather play a top tier pancake game tbh.

This game is unbelievably good in vr2 with a wheel (I have the fanatec wheel).
It's not longer just a game but an experience imo.

Happy just driving random cars for peanuts or hot lapping.

Always hated Nordschleife all my life in games. I reckon I've probably spent 80% of my game time on that track since getting vr.

So much easier to judge turns. Becomes much closer to real driving, using similar senses, judgement etc.

I have forza Ms 8, acc etc, motorfest installed, but can't bring myself to boot them since gt7 went vr in Feb.

Barely touched any other game tbh. So, so good imo. Can play for hours each day, and still always feels like more I want to do in a session. Despite all its imperfections/flaws. Immersion and feeling it generates is unreal imo.

If you like cars and wondered about vr, abd have funds. Go get it. I had stopped playing it a month or 2 before vr2, as it had ran its course.

And things are about to get even better it seems.

@Qwerty1234 Not for me, no, For example Im playing Witcher3 and around 50 hours in and no feelings of tedium that I had with TLOU2. Same with games like Skyrim, various Final Fantasy' over the years etc.

I personally had no issues playing as Abbie at all and empathized with her. It was just the gameplay loop - just grew tiresome for me, may be not for others.

Re: The Last of Us 2 Was the Most Downloaded PS4 Game in February

B80

Gameplay better than the 1st and I didn't mind the story, like many seemed to.

Pacing was off though. Just dragged on and on annnnnddd on... by about the halfway point I was willing it to end, but it just kept going!.

Length of 1st game was perfect, 2nd one was way too long imo.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy on PS5 Supports 30fps, 60fps, and VRR

B80

I always elect for 60ps (therefore taking hit on graphic), but on a uk gaming podcast recently they mentioned that they prefer some games in lower fps for reasons I can't recall. No doubt culmination of features being enabled/ disabled in the various modes. I think spiderman may have been mentioned as one that they preferred the look/feel of the game, atmosphere etc using lower fps iirc. Less crucial for it to be ultra fluid/liquid compared to fps, racing games perhaps, particularly if not playing online.

Re: Poll: Have You Completed Elden Ring?

B80

@Panic_Attache
Cheers, feel I shoukd play this, as can't avoid the (deserved) hype from all quarters of the gaming world. Amd will always wonder I've missed out on when it comes up. I have zero shame in 'cheesing' it tbh, then If I get the fromsoft bug, like many do, start playing it without any/so much hand holding I future.

Impulse purchased sekrio too yesterday as on rare half price sake. Apparently tougher, ficus on parry more, but once you 'get it' the fluidity, intensity of combat is top tier. Lunacy I know .n ever played fromsoft title before...

I may boot it for a 'laugh' and quick go today, to see how tough it is before getting into ER.

appeal of sekiro is top tier combat, plus as no upgrades to equipment there's no time for thinking, 'do I need to improve/change equipment or character build. Yiu know it's purely on your gaming ability,so much more focused, plus want to experience this top tier combat... After a lot of pain, I think I'm ready/up for the challenge:D

Re: Poll: Have You Completed Elden Ring?

B80

@Pokemaniacal
That's what appeals actually. Proper dark, brooding, menacing atmosphere.

I Just need to get going as limited time and so much other stuff I like too...

Re: It's Happening! PSVR2 Games Can Now Be Wishlisted on PS Store

B80

Never used one apart from a qust I thibk, that someone brought into the office 3 years or so ago. Was impressed at how immersive it was.

Really looking forward to this and will definitely be pre ordering... hopefully won't have same sourcing issues as tge console.

See this as a potential game changer for video games as the tech develops. Adds another dimension in terms of immersion, enjoyment I imagine.

Would be great if gt7 supports this, but there's no news on that front, so I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Soapbox: I Tried So Hard to Like Elden Ring, But I Just Couldn’t Do It

B80

I bought it a couple of months, dipped in for probably on a few hours total, which is probably not the way to get into fromsoft games... from what I've read you really need to immerse yourself.

In all honesty didn't appeal to me that much due to fromsoft rep of making purposefully tough games, but got caught up in in the hype.

I found a yiutube video series that apparently teaches you fiundations of these games, rsther than purely levelling up to make an overpowered build, so will give that a go.

Kind of intrigued by it and the high marks, but can't say it's grabbed me so far, but need to give it a proper go before writing it off.

Gt7 has got its hooks, so I've been playing that when I have the odd hour or 2 free for games.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium Now Live in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand

B80

Hi all, I'm on and want ps + premium. Are there cheaper options outside of going direct via Sony?
Can't see anything for premium on shopto, cdkeys, amazon etc?
If not I'll keep paying monthly with a view to getting longer once/if black Friday deals emerge...

Or sounds like I could get 6 months now via Sony, then bolt on a year on top once/if black Friday deals emerge??

Re: The Last of Us 2 Has Sold an Impressive 10 Million Copies on PS4

B80

@jrt87 lol! @ actively cheer

It drag on for sure, should have been half the length it was and no one would have complained. In particular for 2nd half, was hoping it was the final chapter/scene most the time. Still thought it was a good game overall. Just went on waaaayyy too long.

Re: The Last of Us 2 Has Sold an Impressive 10 Million Copies on PS4

B80

@Oscarjpc wow, surprised the 1st game outsold it by that much tbh...

Yes, must admit, a 3rd game doesn't fill me with excitement. In fact almost a mild sense of dread, unless they revamp the gameplay. Sneaking around over and over i different locations for 40 hours just got tiresome for me.

Re: The Last of Us 2 Has Sold an Impressive 10 Million Copies on PS4

B80

@kcarnes9051

Yes, I 'liked' the way they weren't afraid to bring some of the 'shocks' to the story line, rather than usual cookie cutter, predictable stuff you see in most games an TV shows where tge outcomes are predictable almost right from the start. Bit like when I read the whole 'song of fire and ice' series after watching the 1st game of thrones season. Part of the appeal was the whole 'grey area' and the potential that anything could happen to the main characters.

Overall I enjoyed it, but the last 10-15 hours did drag on for me. I was enjoying it, but just wanted it to end and move onto something else.not that I disliked the characters or story, just seemed to drag on and on...

I'm not exactly part of the 'woke' crowd, more Conservative views on subjects involved, but it didn't really bother me tbh.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 (PS5) - The Real Driving Simulator Makes Its Grand Return

B80

Yeah I wouldn't bother for now mate. It's a good game, in the driving sense (although many hate the snap oversteer I'm rwds), but they've really screwed up the economy.

They're nerfing the highest paid race in the latest update (and that happens to be on dirt..), you can't sell cars and tve highest priced cars are 20 mill. Someone worked it out and to say its a grind would be an understatement.

It's more like a gt prologue in its current state. A Shane really after such a long wait. Luckily plenty of other top games to turn to, but a lot of p1ssed off people on gtplanet. Servers down nearly 15 hours now!

Re: Gran Turismo 7 (PS5) - The Real Driving Simulator Makes Its Grand Return

B80

@RubyCarbuncle I can see your point mate, but I just don;t think its a big deal like some make out. tI know it will annoy, effect some, but reality is it will only effect a tiny % of people out there. In 10 years time or however long until they close the servers (if they even close them after that time), even less people won;t have access to some kind of connection at home.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 (PS5) - The Real Driving Simulator Makes Its Grand Return

B80

Being online all the time doesn't bother me. Surely 99% of people have some kind of Internet connection in their home now? Maybe I'm overlooking something.

Graphics look sharp, but if I'm honest aren't as spectacular as I was hoping/expecting. Maybe once actually playing the game for myself, I'll appreciate them.

I'm hoping the sound effects are as good as indicated in some reviews, as has been underwhelming in previous versions (although I never played gt sport). Sound makes a massive difference for me, particularly car games, where roaring engines really add to the occasion/immersion. A bit like in real life, loud, deep sound is a big part of it for car lovers. Flat, relatively quietish sound can spoil things a bit, particularly when hammering a high performance car with more than 4 cylinders.

Re: Call of Duty Will Take Time Off Next Year

B80

@Jacko11 yeah I can't stop playing vanguard, love it.

Have a back log of quality games building, but always find myself wanting to play vanguard each day!

Well and truly hooked in.

My mate persuaded me to trial bf2042 but just didn't click with me at all, but got me in the mood for a decent online fps. So bought cod a month or 2 back and haven't put it down since.

Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Makes Ubisoft More Than $1 Billion

B80

Loved the original series up to black flag when I then had few years away from gaming.

Reading some reddit subs and this site, seems split down middle about tge change of style and recent 3 games..boring, repetitive, world too big and sparse etc. The 1st assasins creed I enjoyed as was new, but recall it being very repetitive in terms of climb x tower, climb y tower, actuvate mission etc. But tge world, story, graphics were great.

I know of 2 chaps who love valhalla so will give them a go at some point. Seems mixed views on which 1 of 3 is best. But valhalla appealing as more 'next gen' in terms of graphics.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5?

B80

@BritneyfR_ee yeah feel I need to revisit it. Bit clunky/slow feeling, but maybe just needs getting used to. Didn't like when first returned to base at beginning and how it slow it felt wandering about the house thing, opening drawers and piking up a load of crap. Maybe need to do some searches and see how essential it is searching every drawer, cupboard nook and cranny. I completed rdr1 when it first came out.

Yeah do wonder how much of GTA popularity is due to earlier versions and hype/advertising. Don't mean to offend people on here who love it, as imagine most are more than casual gamers and people have different tastes, but to me it's a series that casual gamers see as a must buy as they don't know better or know about/have any interest in many other games. A chap last week was talking about games and he hasn't played anything for years, but said he'd buy a ps5 when gta6 is released. Also mentioned cod, which is another series that casual gamers heavily lean towards, same as fifa... I have and like both of those games.

I imagine the new horizon games won't sell anywhere near as many units as gta, despite probably being a better game in most areas as its not as 'mainstream' despite still having big budget, aaa etc. Casual gamers don't tend to 'scratch below the surface' and just go for the usual established, popular titles, even if they're just average to above average overall.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5?

B80

@BritneyfR_ee

Beat me to it. Played most the gta's, getting sucked in by the hype, but just not my sort of game I think. Get around halfway through and realize I'm not really hooked in or enjoying myself so drift away onto something else.

Need to revisit rdr2 but didn't particularly like that after a couple of hours either.
