Re: Hardware Review: Sony INZONE H9 II - The Perfect Gaming Headset?

Aquariusjive

Beware- any of the Sony cans or earbuds are prone to repeated audio cuts and quirky glitches. I've dropped cash on the current H9's, the Inzone earbuds, and the previous generation PS4 'Gold' headset and after having my wallet repeatedly emptied, can confidently say that I won't be falling for the next iteration of Sony's top tier Playstation audio. No matter where I sit, or how I position the consoles (avoiding any potential external devices that could be causing interference) there are always cuts and momentary glitches that just ruin the immersion that these headsets are supposed to be delivering on. Also, it's insane that the headphones all require a USB dongle that awkwardly sticks out of the front or back of the console and could easily be accidentally snapped off by a kid or pet. I absolutely love my Sony XM3 headset even after 4 years of owning them and am baffled by how Sony could fail to deliver that same level of depth and clarity to these other top notch Playstation-centric headsets. Sure, I have the option of plugging the XM3's directly into the dualsense with a 3.5mm audio cable but that's not why I paid up for wireless gear. Hard pass for me on the H9 II's.

Stick drift is flipping awful and inexcusable with it being so dang widespread across all mainstream consoles BUT I will say that I’ve fixed multiple controllers for myself and friends incredibly easily with nothing but a 25 cent potentiometer! You can pick up a pack of ten of them for under $5 usually with free shipping if you look around a bit! Let me know if you have questions and I’ll try and help. I’ve only fixed dualsense, not Xbox controllers but I think it’s a nearly identical process.

Re: Poll: Is PS Portal the Biggest Surprise Hit of the PS5 Generation?

Aquariusjive

I love my Portal for what it is and nothing more. It's got a gorgeous screen, great weighting, feels perfect in your hand, has decent battery life, and doesn't tie you to any particular TV in the house. I will say that I'm not super pumped about the ability to stream your library being locked behind the PS+ Premium paywall but I'm hopeful that someday that will change. It does get a little finicky outside of the house but probably 90% of the time I have zero issue with lag by just leveraging my cell's hotspot. We do have 1gb upload and 1gb download speed fiber service in the house and 6E mesh routers so that may play a big part in my praise for the Portal. I just love sitting in front of the fireplace while the fam uses the main TV and I can mash away at my own game while still hanging out with them.

Re: Poll: 15 Years of PS Plus - What Do You Think of Sony's Subscription Service?

If I’m interested enough in a game, I’ll buy it. Don’t try and feed me nonsense “free” games that I wasn’t considering playing in the first place. I hate paying for an ISP’s exorbitant fees while at the same time being FORCED to pay for ‘essential’ when I hardly ever play online/multiplayer games. I’m sad that single player/immersive games are disappearing.

33 is a flipping gorgeous game on all fronts. I keep considering picking it up but..... I just can't seem to get into turn based RPG's no matter how many times I try to dive in. I'm definitely in the minority here.
