Stellar Blade Devs Says 'Nothing Confirmed' Regarding Switch 2 Port Rumours 1

Korean developer Shift Up says “nothing has been confirmed” regarding rumours of a Switch 2 port of its PS5 and PC smash hit, Stellar Blade.

The studio celebrated its continued expansion earlier today by gifting all employees Nintendo’s new console. You may recall, it previously rewarded all of its staff with PS5 Pro systems and cash bonuses.

Earlier today, Play Forum.net reported that the Seoul-based studio was “considering” a conversion of its enormously popular character action outing for the Switch 2. The game, published by Sony, originally launched as a PS5 exclusive, and was ported to the PC last week. It’s sold over three million copies.

Interestingly, this game’s intellectual property is owned by Shift Up, so once its contract with PlayStation expires, it’ll be free to release it wherever it pleases. However, the source for this story simply states that the studio has acquired Switch 2 development kits, which doesn’t necessarily confirm a conversion of Stellar Blade.

In fact, the studio is also working on Project Spirits, which has been announced as a multiformat project from the outset.

By and large, Sony has been supportive of the original Switch, releasing titles like LEGO Horizon Adventures on the platform – and allowing Bandai Namco to license franchises like Freedom Wars and Patapon as well. Apparently the Japanese giant doesn’t see the Mario maker as competition, so it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility that Stellar Blade could end up on the system.

But for now the developer says it has nothing to announce on that front, and we suspect that’s how things will remain for the time being.
