When is the PS5 coming out? What is the PlayStation 5's release date, and will that day differ between territories? It's one of the most important questions Sony will have to answer, alongside the price of the system itself, but we actually already have a pretty good idea of when we should expect the PS5 to hit store shelves. In this article, we're going to look at the latest rumours and leaks and consider when the PlayStation 5 will launch.
When Is PS5 Coming Out?
Sony has confirmed that the PS5 will launch in the holiday 2020 season. This means it will release between the months of October and December, but a November launch is the most likely. This falls in line with when the PlayStation 4 launched too.
Will the PS5 Have Different Release Dates in the US and Europe?
Sony has not confirmed differing release dates for the PS5 in varying territories, so we don't yet know if one region will have to wait a little longer than others. If we take a look back through history, however, it becomes apparent that Sony has never launched a console across multiple territories on the same day.
The PS4 launched in the US on 15th November 2013 and came to Europe two weeks later. The PS3 hit US store shelves on 17th November 2006, and Europe had to wait a whopping four months to get its hands on the console. Because of this, we expect the PS5 to release on different dates in the US and Europe. It'll be a very short gap, nothing more than two weeks we're sure, but it does look like those in Europe and the UK will have to wait a little longer if history repeats itself.

Guide? Just wow.
Nah. US and Europe will be on the same day this time. If we base our expectations on anything, until official info, we should base it on release trends. PS2 US-EU relase gap vs. PS3 gap v.s PS4 gap (8 months, 4 months, 2 weeks).
Im going to end up waiting anyway before I buy the new console I like to try to get a special edition ps5 like FF7 themed PlayStation. That'd be nice
My Cat like instincts and curiosity tell me that I'm going to pre-order a PS5 (as I did with PS4). Excuse me now, I'm off to take a crap in next door's flowerpot.
@Neolit
I'm still waiting for my Trolling-Fu medals you promised me dude
@Jab187 you're trying too hard. 😎
Actually it may release in Europe first.
I am more than happy with my Pro, but I have to admit I am getting pretty excited at the prospect of a new console. That for me is my favourite thing about videogames, there is always something to look forward to.
I can't believe we had another 7-year console gen but that's what Pro and X were designed to do, extend this gen. I will say, and I don't know if it's because I'm older now, but I'm not pining for a new console as much as I was at the end of the last cycle. There's no doubt the PS4 and Xbox One feel dated, but even the base models for those consoles don't feel as ancient as PS3 and 360 did in 2011, forget about 2013.
I'm guessing 2021. The 2020 release date seems too soon to have a little library of PS5 exclusive titles ready to go for launch time.
Ms announced 2020 hol and next gen consoles have very similar hardware. 1+1
Who from sony said "holiday 2020" I can't find the quote or any reference to the quote anywhere.

@Neolit Yes. Thanks.
I decided to check out Eurogamer for more info and found the same link there. The Wired piece could have been written better. I came back here to comment and found your reply.
Appreciated anyway.
I'll get a PS5 in 2 years so i'm more excited about several ps4 games becoming dirt cheap.
